Always loved the Ridgeline. I know some people don't recognize it as a real truck, but i suppose it all depends on what you're using it for.
It's 2024 baby, it can identify as a truck if it wants
Thanks for the complete review have been waiting months for a review of the Black Edition, Thanks for showing all the equipment, especially the ventilated front seats and rear A/C vents very much needed for southern buyers, 90 + heat 8 months of the year. Downsizing from a 2010 F150 with 172k miles will be ordering this same Truck this April. Thanks for your help. From South Ga. UPDATE 2/23/24 just purchased this same Ridgeline from Langdale Honda in Valdosta Ga for $500 under MSRP
I wont buy a car in florida without ventilated seats. Its a deal breaker. Ive had cars with em and without. Without is brutal
I bought the same truck in Indiana for 1500.00 under msrp. Great truck. I do wish the ventilated seats worked a little better.
Very nice review. The pearl white looks great in the sun.
Just got mine today. Thanks for the review. You forgot to mention the bed speakers. 😊
Love my 2018 RLT-T Ridgeline. The V6 is very snappy, plenty of power to handle the payload and tow weights. You didn't mention the AWD system on the truck, it's phenomenal. It can climb any grade the other trucks can and maintain better control on wet and snowy surfaces.
Amazing review Will.
Awesome review!
Not a bad truck for the money. Good review Wil.
Great video. I’m loving the ridgeline black edition in white. The naturally aspirated v6 along with Hondas reliability has really convinced me this is the right vehicle for me. Probably going to get one in the summer.
I just bought the same truck. It is really nice!
damn nice review bro, nice job and thank you
Hopefully later this year! One feature I really like is the drop or swing out tailgate.
I love what you said about the upper rpm range! This is where the turbo 4s lack, making their peak torque early. I have a pic of a 23 Ridgeline parked beside a 23 Frontier. From the rear view, the Ridgeline is significantly larger. Against other 5' bed competition, the only regret is the bed depth, but then there's the in bed trunk.
Maybe one day, I will be able to buy this truck.
In 20 years. Start saving 😂
Me too... I like the 24 ridgeline... it has the best design compared to the previous ones. I wonder if they are going to introduce a newer body design for next year. There are a few things I wish this truck had, maybe a longer bed, better mpg, a little bit better tow option and lastly, if they could flatten out the back floor when the seats are lifted up. But, even the way it is now, I really like these new ridgelines!
How do you get the parking lights to flash like they are in the video?
Does anyone know if the 9-speed transmission is still having failures?
thank goodness a quiet start up . i laugh how many truck buyers /drivers have to put on the"hey look at me, mr. wanna- b bad A.. growly mufflers."
Love my 2017 Honda Ridgeline Canadian Touring Model - Same as the Black Edition, but White - Canadian edition had heated and vented seats, and a CD player (never used). Hoping the 2025 will have a significant update so I can trade in for an update - only have 52,000 miles.
Finally, The 2024 Ridgeline has the new infotainment system compared to the previous model year whom has the old Honda infotainment system
$46K is insane!
Okay now I need to go out, find some open highway and take my '23 into Sport mode and see what it's really got.
A truck for people that don’t want a truck that need a truck.
You didn't mention the dual swing tail gate (maybe I missed it?) or did they eliminate that feature for 2024?
Think it still has it
Still has it
That was missed.
You’ve mentioned dual pane windows here and in the Tundra review. Does any manufacturer use dual pane windows?
My Mazda CX5 has double pane windows and it really makes a difference. Inside my horn sounds weak but outside it’s pretty loud.
This is such an upgrade from the 2023 but unfortunately missing rain sensing wipers which have been available on Canadian spec Ridgelines for several years. Would be nice to have an integrated brake controller for towing a trailer but at least its still prewired for it. Kind of wish the in bed speakers weren't ditched even if most didn't use them. It's also an odd omission to not put in a conversation mirror on the sunglass holder when it seems clearly designed to have one and it's gotta be a super cheap feature.
I'd like to know how the braking performance is on this truck. You briefly mentioned it but is the braking solid or a little lacking?
It has solid braking especially when compared to competitors who use body on frame construction.
It brakes pretty well, if you’re used to driving sedans or coupes it jerks a little when braking at a light, other than that it has prevented me from rear ending a couple of times. I would always recommend slamming the brakes on any vehicle you test drive.
I plan to get a new Ridgeline for the ability to haul 3 shoes in the glove compartment
Me too but I’m getting to store 11 license plates 😂
Ole Boy weaving in and out of traffic 😂
Didn't show the dual opening tailgate.
I purchased a loaded Frontier Pro4X last year and I'm disappointed overall. I really didn't need that level of capability and transmission programming and payload capacity are terrible. I should have looked at the Ridgeline because it has over 400 pounds more payload, so now I'm considering trading the P4X for a Ridgeline BE.
Don’t see the black edition 46,000 in my area in New York. Going for around 48,000 Maybe the trail sport is around that price of 46,000
Same here in CA, the MSRP on every Black Edition I've looked at has been $48,200 and then they load it up with another $5k in dealer add-ons.
Did this specific model take the place of my leased 2023 Honda Ridgeline " RTL-E " & by how much ?
Nope - I believe the four trim models for 2024 are the Sport, RT-L, Trailsport & top-o-the-line Black Edition (reviewed here). I’m currently leasing a 21 Sport & will either buy it @ lease end or lease a 24 Trailsport.
@@Ravenator You had the " RTL "..., I have the RTL-E "..., what's the difference & isn't the " RTL-E " the TOP of the line or 2nd from the TOP ?
I think in 24, the RT-L is just one step above the Sport, the Trailsport is 2nd highest trim level to the Black Edition - so I would think the RT-L is basically the same trim level you have now, with the Trailsport having more of the off-road upgrades like skid plate, knobby tires, different seat trim, all -weather floor mats, different grille, etc
@@Ravenator Thank-you
The only thing that makes me hesitate to buy one is the VCM, I wish it could be deactivated.
Kind crazy that the "top trim" level has very few extras. Really no incentive to get a top level. Nice video!
It’s more of an appearance package on top of the normal leather trimmed model. The fact that there isn’t a huge price gap is actually very nice to see in this market.
Honda needs to park that ridgeline engine in a full-size truck. All the full size trucks nowadays have 3.5ish v6 anyway.
9 speed transmission, is that the good one?
10 speed on the Pilot is their latest transmission. Bit smoother, quicker gear shifts I think..
Will, don’t know if was cut in the edit, but you completely missed the dual action tailgate (where it also opens out) - guessing at this point most folks know about the Ridge’s gate, but just have never seen this feature missed on a review
Everybody and their uncle already knows about that tailgate.
He also gave the said the trunk dimensions of CRV on his post edit.
Dampers for the tailgate on a ridgeline? 🤔
weak folks need dampers
Honda needs to update the interior and get rid of the gloss black trim. Nobody likes plastic that scratches and gets prints all over it. They also need to update the engine to the 6-cylinder DOHC in the Pilot with the 10-speed transmission. Maybe for 2025.
This older v6 is tried and true. The new one not so much as of yet and the 10 speed transmission is no ZF9.
Won't be 2025, they aren't going to do a redesign right after a refresh. I went to the LA Auto Show and Honda rep told me the plans are to give the Pilot a hybrid first. Then they will the update the Passport to the Pilot's new design also with hybrid. After that, they will address the Ridgeline. The '24 refresh is intended to hold people over until then. You're probably looking at 2027 at the earliest.
@@pigxstix I'm fine without a major refresh, but that glossy black plastic is a deal-breaker. Sounds trivial, but having lived with it in another vehicle, never again. I'll look at other mid-size trucks next year if they just trot the same thing out for 25.
My 22 RTL-E has more of a matte carbon fiber look, rather than the gloss black.
@@JSmith-zr2ve I noticed the Trailsport does as well. Really wish they'd put it in the Black Edition.
Might want to skip the engine revving.
It's not under-rated, it just has a 4.33 axle ratio 👍
SAVE your money by a RLT almost the same as the Black Edition check it out that's what I bought
Dane, BMW does not make a pickup…
This is a compact pick up, for adults.
Some disappointing things about this truck are: in 2024 but no full LED light, the seats too thin for a truck.
The reflector LED's are perfectly fine, they don't blind the shit outta oncoming traffic like many of the projectors. The seat comfort is awesome. The steering wheel could be thicker and have 2 and 10 bolstering.
I recommend that you do not buy it. One month of use and the leather on the seats wrinkles and neither the Honda nor the dealer want to solve the problem.
The car's interior is supposed to be better for the price
0:27
The ridgeline is a half ton not a mid sized truck
No, it is a mid sized truck
The transmission in my 2023 rtl is crap hard down shifts And Honda thinks this is a good thi
Transmissions in these things are no count, whether 6AT or 9AT.
Still interior design is old.
Is that bed plastic ? 46k for a plastic bed 😒 l don't think so
Yes it is. Just like on the new Tacoma but for 10k less.
PS: I had 1st gen Ridgeline, that composite bed can handle some abuse.
Composite...
Very durable
@@deanvoss7098 composite = fancy word for plastic. l hope it holds up to direct sunlight
I put a magnet to various parts of the bed and I think some parts of the bed have some metal in the bed but the magnet is a bit weak but it is pretty durable and will not rust.
I recommend that you do not buy it. One month of use and the leather on the seats wrinkles and neither the Honda nor the dealer want to solve the problem.
Not to mention the timing belt requirement which is $2000 every 60-100k miles.
You move camera too much.
So the Honda genius engineers think that putting a spare under the bed of a pickup is a good idea 😂😂😂 so what happens if you have a flat and your bed is full of furniture or gravel etc? Just proof that is is just a glorified crossover....just more expensive than most 😂😂😂
Sounds like a sick very sick poor excuse for a man truck…NO THANKS!
i am sorry that ridgeline hurt your feelings
$46 for f-ing Honda. No thanks. I will stay with a BMW for the money. Tail gate is ugly
Show me a new loaded BMW for $46k 😆Not to mention they don't make a truck style so.....
Yeah, really dumb comment. BMW doesn't make a truck, and if they did, it would be over 100k and always breaking down.
STUPID COMMENT..........................please ...go bet a BMW and waste a lot of money

BMW makes crap vehicles.
