I have a question i’m trying to transfer my xr to another xr bc it’s cracked but when it says put in password it says it’s wrong. and i’m putting in my passcode I use yo get in my phone. is that the right code or am I supposed to be doing something different?
It sounds like you’re doing exactly correct it should just take your normal passcode unless they updated something or change some thing that I’m on aware of Apple does do a lot of updates but it sounds like you’re trying to do it correctly so I’m not sure what else might be wrong

Great help! In iOS 13.5.1 it is even easier! At 2:32 I was able to backup from old phone instead of iCloud. This transfers all data (and photos) to new phone.

if you need to factory reset the iphone do you log out of apple id before u reset it or can you just keep it logged in
you can just reset it, it's gonna log you out anyway and then you will need to log back in if you reset your phone so you will need your info to get logged back in

This was very helpful; thank you. I would tell people first off if their old phone is at 13.1 or higher they need to set the new iPhone 11 up as a new account, then do a reset so the iPhone 11 does the new update. Then you can do the Quick Setup transferring data from the old to the new phone. For my phone, I was attempting to pair the devices in lower light. As soon as the new phone was moved to brighter light, the syncing began. Switched from SE to 11 only because I needed it for work.

Jamie Wagner can you do it if your cloud is saturated??? I cant backup manually my mac has a problem with the usb ports... the cable wont connect... ive tried contacting apple support but i need to bring it in store but ive its out of warranty:(((
probably not unless you clean up your iCloud to make more room. You can log on to iCloud.com directly to manage stuff. You might need to purchase more storage just to get your stuff up in the iCloud so it''s safe at least. I WISH they would give us more FREE storage space.

It has been a bit frustrating to transfer data directly from my old 7 to new XS, using the LTE service on the old 7 as hotspot for new XS.
Over 3hrs gone and it's less than half was gone - something isn't right I guess...

I followed this key, updated my 6S running iOS 10.3 and THEN did a flawless transfer. Only thing I had to do was an iTunes music sync because the transfer only did 2500 of my 4500 songs. Hi, will I be able to use this when changing service plans too? I’m planning on going from iPhone SE with sprint to iPhone XR with visible (they use Verizon). I also see that with visible I’ll be having some activation steps with a visible SIM and such. Not sure how familiar you are with visible. Thank you!
do the transfer first then work on installing your sim card, that way you can activate your sim card in your new phone

Thanks 😊, I use google photos because it’s free if you set it to save that way I also save videos to google photos as well. Sometimes I will connect my iPhone to my computer and copy them to my backup hard drive. If iCloud was much cheaper I would just save everything to there because it would all save easy then and it would all be the highest resolution or whatever resolution you recorded at. Any way google photos works pretty good for me for now. I’ve used it for a while.

Pretty much yes if you just want to use the other phone it should work just moving the SIM card. I do that between my 11 max and note Plus

Hey Jamie, is there any other way to do this? My old phone is broken and my screen is unresponsive hence why I bought a new one
your gonna have to just set it up normally with the manual method, and then sign in to your icloud account and sync what data you have backed up from your old phone before it broke
Thanks Jamie for this tutorial. I just missed one part, after turning on WiFi and BlueTooth on your old device; what do you do on the new device? Do I just switch the device on and I will be prompted on the old device for the transfer? Sorry, to be of bother I am print disabled sand will be buying a new device shortly and wish to be prepared.

you can just move it over first or later
Just thought I’d say, my sister wanted to upgrade to an IPhone when she finishes her contract I believe it is for a galaxy S9, she said to me she will just copy it over to her computer and get her boyfriend to work out how to put it on the phone lol - but, just throwing it out there, say you only have the 5gb (free package) for ICloud, you can use a computer/Mac, using ITunes. The back-up/restore function works the exact same way.
I can’t say if it’s faster or slower. My phone took 40 - 50 minutes, despite me going from an IPhone 4 (oh, yeah, old-school) to the IPhone X. (Not the newer models the original)
I don’t know what took so long, but it did take that long for some reason through a wired connection.
So hopefully no one is in a hurry to get things done. Although, I think it may have been me transferring video, music and the lot in the backup. When it backs up to iTunes it does everything. It maybe that, and it converting it from the IPhone 4 back-up, to the IPhone X. Maybe. I should also disclose, didn’t have the iPhone 4 directly I handed that to another family member after formatting it.

When you put in the SIM card and it puts your old stuff into your new phone does it do the Apple ID also? I need to get a new Apple ID but don’t want the old one going to my new phone.
then you will have to set up your new phone as a new phone and don't copt the stuff over. The sim card don't copy you ID over

Yes you can as long as that SIM card fits in there but you can still do my video even without the SIM card

well they should all be in your iCloud account so it must have to do with icloud, maybe restart your phone and see if anymore show up, I know I did it and mine were okay

Question so if my iPhone 8 is broken and I have a old iPhone 7+ can I put the SIM card to the iPhone 7+ will it have the number and cell line as well also let’s say my 2 year contract with version is almost over would I hand the broken phone even it has warrenty

If your old phone is broken then you’re going to have to set up your new phone manually and as far as the Sim card goes just turn off both of your phones remove the Sim card from the old phone and if it’s the right size then you can just install it in the new phone and then you can turn your new phone on you can do that before you transfer data or after you set up your new phone just make sure your phone is turned off when removing and installing the Sim card

Oh gosh it’s really important to have that info anymore. You might have to call Apple or contact Apple support and try and reset it so you’re able to get in your account

yes I would use your google account if you have that, iCloud only gives us 5gb free and thats not enough at all

back your contacts up to your iCloud account first so they are saved and safe

I’ve smashed my iPhone 6s Plus, with the phone being bent also, can’t see the screen. I’ve got a spare iPhone, but to sign into iCloud a 6 digit authentication code is sent to the other device, but I can’t see the screen, any advice?
your gonna have to log into your icloud account or apple account from a desktop computer to change the device that is receiving the code. one that has a good screen.
So like when I move everything over, nothing will be left on the old phone including the Apple ID info right ?
How would you get rid of everything on the old phone?
Everything is left on your old phone, SO what you need to do is Go into settings and go to reset, then choose erase all data. That will ERASE everything and factory reset the iPhone. It will ask you if you want to back up first, that's up to you if you got everything already backed up and you got everything on your new phone then I would just skip the backup part and factory reset your iPhone.
So if I do the steps you provide everything will transfer to my new phone, like same apps, same photos etc.. Will it also have my music on how it was?

Either one because it doesn’t matter, I think if I remember correctly I moved it over to the new phone before I did the transfer but you can do it after the transfer also if you want
