      I mean, they have different sellers. It's like how youtube is struggling with spammes, and even ped0's. So many channels that it's difficult to keep everything in check. Amazon is struggling to keep these independent sellers in check. What a challenge. It's a real bummer, the worst of people and sellers combining to ruin it for everyone.

      As someone who worked in one of the distribution centers, they do actually repack most items which means that they do see what they are packing most of the time. The issue that leads to this is actually due to the fact that the distribution centers work on a disposable human model. They hire all workers temp, tell them they can only be hired fully if they can make impossible deadlines, and then strong-arm them into rushing quantity over quality. There is a system in place for reporting items that are listed as say a motherboard but are actually package hair ties, which would stop the egregious issues, but there is nowhere near enough time to report DDR 4 vs labeled DDR5 ram. If it looks generally like the right object and scans it will get shiped.

    As a former Amazon delivery guy in Germany, I can tell you from my experience that this happens because of the delivery guys. In their work scanners, they can see that your packet has an OTP(one time password) assigned by Amazon because the packet is expensive. The delivery guys usually know some tricks to open the boxes and change the products inside. Beware of this scam!!!

    Yup, this has been massive problem over the last few months. Amazon doesn't care if you get scammed. I was banned for a week because I did a review of what the seller did and Amazon said it was defamation of a small buisness and did the ban

      4 years ago I got banned forever from giving reviews and I don’t even know why, I asked Amazon several times, and they won’t tell me. I can buy whatever I want, I’m just banned from reviewing it. None of my reviews have been inflammatory I just tell of my true experience with the product. I guess a vendor complained? Who knows. I literally have no idea why.

      Ebay is actually so frightened of breaking this law that even a review spamming the N Word wouldn't be removed.

    As a former Amazon seller I can tell you that Amazon doesn't hold its vendors/sellers to any standard either. Amazon will tell you to dispute with the vendor/seller first, the vendor/seller will play run around with you, and if the vendor/seller keeps it up for more than 30-90 days Amazon just won't accept your refund or return because it's out of period.
    Be careful with Amazon.

      As a current seller on Amazon they definitely do hold the seller accountable. How you would be able to give the runaround for 30-90 is insane but that doesnt matter. People put in claims for items not showing up etc that are well over a year old and win.
      The change I've noticed is that Amazon used to give refunds without returning for any and all issues but that has been pissing sellers off enough to the point that they have left the platform and they are now trying to win them back by at least cutting off some of the scammers that do no return for a refund all the time.
      I used to sit at 40-50 open returns all the time and would seldom actually get a return but now it's down to about 15 due to this change and yet the percentage of people actually returning is about 3%. People don't get refunds if they don't return the item anymore and that's a good thing.

      If its is Not shipped or Fulfilled by Amazon, what theyw ould tell you is
      #1 Yes, dispute it with seller, agents can try to offer or you can ask them to contact seller on their behalf and you need to wait 1 -2 weeks.
      #2 Seller responds? , deal with them in a back and forth. They dont respond? Call amazon again to tell the agent about what happened and they will verify it. False? They try to contact seller again.
      True? They will file a claim against seller that will take their product down u til further notice but it wont be immediate so you can still see it for a while. STRICTLY DO NOT REPLY TO THE SELLER ANYMORE AT THIS POINT OR THE PROCESS WIL FAIL.
      #3 wait for contact by Amazon and it can take a while.
      #4 Either you get called by Amazon saying your refund is being processed and you can keep the item or send you an RMA or they screw you.
      If they screw you, call amazon again and immediately ask for a sup and repeat the process again. Supervisors can sometimes "SOMETIMES" do miracles.
      Note: This whole shebang is only for Non FBA and non SBA items, You wont have this issue if the Item is SBA as they have the item in stock in one of the warehouses and a refund or replacement is easier to do and just ask for a supervisor if you are pissed off already specially in the ber months as there will be a lot of contractuals during that time and the quality of agents is a hit or miss.

      In the UK I’ve never had issues, always helpful when we had problems and some were almost hard to believe yet we always got 100%, including returns after 45 days since we didn’t open the box and when we did we found the item inside was damaged. I know there’s always exceptions but for the UK side it’s always been a positive experience.

    This is exactly why I’ve started to use Amazon less and less. I’ve found that most stores around me have what I need more often than not. And it’s ALWAYS a pain with Amazon trying to find a non crap/cheap item for a good price. It’s just over saturated with really crappy products unless it’s something new and expensive (but then you have this issue).

      So you open the box , get the item out, put garbage in.
      Then put it back on porch and just open from bottom and are "suprised"? That's something easily faked. You need to tackle the Amazon driver and open it in front them all while recording the entire time. It's what I do.

Idk how it is for you but where I'm from, all Amazon items come in paper bags now with Amazon's own special tape that immediately just completely rips apart the bag if you try to remove it. You cannot fake those paper bags with the tape. The tape is completely unusable after being removed even once

    As an ICQA worker for an Amazon XL warehouse. What we do is deal with all customer returns, and yes we do see ur comments, and we also deal with a lot of inventory. A lot of the times we r so focused on hitting rate because that's all the managers care about, that we don't have the time to make sure we got everything correctly. I still tell them to get off my back and let me do my job. But it doesn't stop them from talking to me every day. The only reason they deal with me is because I'm actively trying to fix what I can when I can. Not to mention if outbound needs some people for out going deliveries, even tho they sent half their people home with voluntary time off, they could labor share us over and then there's no people to properly do the job in ICQA. It's honestly just a huge shit show in there and if I was getting an ok paycheck every week then I would've been gone long ago

    I usually play on my PC but when my husband and I had our daughter I stopped playing so much because I just never found the time to sit at my desk. So for Mother’s Day 2020 he bought me a switch lite to see if it was something I’d get any use out of before we got a full size switch. Anyway, Amazon delivered a dead empty box. It had the charger but no console. Its a switch lite so you could easily slip open the box and take the console and return the box and say you never opened it, and it’s only one piece so you don’t need to take out a billion pieces if it was someone at the warehouse. I don’t know but my husband builds PCs and does car audio so he has a lot of returns and they gave him some crap about the return as we actually had no product to return, just the box that, as far as they were concerned, we claimed was empty. So I guess they actually have some way of figuring it out by package weight. It’s not something that flags unless way off but I guess they confirmed it was delivered empty by the weight of the box/truck? I don’t remember all the details but it’s super interesting and maybe a route you could ask about it Amazon ever gives any of you a hard time about a return, especially something like having to file a return for an empty/undelivered package or a friggin hair tie.

      As a former Amazon employee Some third party vendor items still hit the warehouse that’s why you can find two of the same product with different barcodes the different barcodes it just a indicator for them to know who’s going to receive that money for that item sold

      Anything fulfilled by Amazon from 3rd party vendors gets mixed in with Amazon inventory. You can get scammed by buying something that says "sold by Amazon" just as easily as any 3rd party vendor, sometimes moreso.

      LPT: unbox item, swap out item, seal it back up, then start filming yourself unboxing item saying it's your first time.
      I know people believe that boxes hold a mysterious force field that prevent people from doing this. This is just a myth, as opening a box of camera is actually easier to do than on camera.

      LPT record yourself receiving it also, or even better, having a cctv to record you receiving it and unbox it infront of the cctv or camera (package have to not leave to view), make sure the label is visible to the camera before unboxing, show the phone order in you feel paranoid, have a few seller that tried to pull this off, caught them red handed when providing the evidence. So they just kept quiet until the vendor favour myside and gave me the refund

    Uber eats did this to me. I had a bunch of issues where I was getting only parts of my orders. Eventually they just refused to help... even though I ordered 4 smoothies and got two. The ticket on my smoothie order bag said 2 of 4 on it. Awkward time explaining to friends that they just weren't getting their smoothies.

    Those hair ties are actually vendor fraud. The vendor sends them to Amazon and they’re labeled as a product that’s usually a couple hundred bucks. I’m actually surprised you got one because they’re easily caught soon after the order for three customer is packed

    When you return something to Amazon on your account they ASK you why you're returning it and there is a comment section, so when you return something, they KNOW why you're returning it!!
    I ordered tea 6 times and 6 times they sent me decaf tea. I kept calling them about it and told me to keep the tea I received which ended up being 128 boxes of tea and I donated it. But I waited 4 months before trying to order my tea figuring they had the wrong tea in the wrong bin and I finally got what I ordered!!!

    I recently had this issue. I (almost) never return items so I was surprised to have so much trouble when my barbell set came in and was a giant TV stand, it was a massive pain and took weeks for them to schedule a pickup of the old item. They didn’t have anymore of that particular barbell set so I just wanted Amazon credit. Didn’t even want it charged back to the card. Very frustrating.

    As someone who worked at amazon, I have seen those Hair Ties disguised as GPU, Motherboard, DSLR Cameras, and more expensive items. I flagged them as defects and The quality department handles it

      At my return center we label those as fraud for example someone returned a 100$ controller but instead returned a dusty old og Xbox controller from gamestop. People do this all the time, another one returned earpods but put a flashdrive in the box.

    Here's a little tip, when you get a package from Amazon, get your phone and start recording, film all the side of the box and the seal to show it hasn't been opened then film the package and the item being opened. I got badly burned last year and since filming my packages, it's saved me three times. Once an item not even in the box, the second was the wrong item entirely and the third was clearly someone elses used and damaged return.

    As someone who works in Amazon Returns I can explain what happened.
    Sometimes we have lazy high school graduates who don’t care about their job so they won’t open a box to check and see if it’s the right item or if it’s missing anything so they pass it off as sellable but at the same time it can affect their quality rate. Usually we’re always told to report fraud if we get an item that doesn’t match the proper item that we were supposed to get so we send that fraud item to a problem solver then they send it to a supervisor that specializes in fraud activity so they can put a fraud note on the customer’s account.

      @jackhandsome9839 true but Amazon is so large it makes that 10% of quality stuff is easier to find just by making sure they actually work with them through prime shipping. It is quite misleading though that most of the "Amazon most recommend" are kinda overpriced overrated items where when you do read the 1,2,3 and 4 star reviews they always mention it being broken or not working or needing to be replaced or way to expensive for what it is. So yeah, Amazon suck and Kristofer Yee should know that.

    I would order around 50-100 items per month... anything from toilet paper to snacks to climbing gear and drone parts... among other stuff. Amazon music & amazon prime subscribed, Owning 2 alexa's as well.

      Absolutely don't do warehouse deals for expensive items. I've gotten really nice paint supplies with a slightly bent tin or no visible defect in warehouse deals but it's a risk because I've also received a completely different item. But I don't spend a lot so they do refund the wrong item purchases.

    I noticed today when requesting a return that the process has gotten stricter. They ask you questions about whether the package was open and whether it was used. Then they made me select the specific Kohls store I would return it to (super inconvenient because I never know where I'm going to be). I shop at Amazon because they make returns so simple. If they change that, I'll shop elsewhere. 🤷‍♀️

      Yeah the last return I had I had a choice between a return at Whole Foods or Kohls. No shipping label anymore. They have a camera at those locations and you have to put the items in a clear bag before putting them in the lock box. So I guess they're checking that way.

    This is one reason I always look for listings that are sold and shipped by Amazon. I very rarely ever have an issue with those items and when I do I’m on the phone for less then 5 min because they handle it very quickly. 3rd party sellers are where the issues always happen so I avoid them at all costs. The most I’ll do is sold by (insert company name) and shipped by Amazon. Because Amazon still holds returns and responsibility. If both shipping and sold are by 3rd party I just won’t buy it. Same thing with Walmart. Except Walmart is absolutely horrable to deal with.

    If you run into this issue, you are supposed to inform Amazon and attempt reconciliation from the seller, through Amazon.
    This way Amazon has a record of the seller being the issue and not you.

    I had a vaguely similar issue.
    People know Amazon will sort out stolen items. When Christmas time rolls around, all of a sudden when I get back from work. My packages are nowhere to be found.
    I live in some apartments, the entire year. Items are delivered either through the door or if it is too large, they will walk to your door and drop the item there. Most likely due to a spike in orders, packages begin to be left in the main hall, instead of at the doors.
    This means that Christmas time, I tend to be calling Amazon a bunch about this and then my account goes on watch even though they have pictures of the item clearly being left at the front of the building with no code on entry available to the public.

    I do Amazon returns, this is false. While we do get a lot (and I mean A LOT) of items that aren't the actual returned product we don't repackage that junk and sell it back to you. We quality control and what's sellable gets shipped back to the wearhouses where they resell it. Yes, sometimes wrong products and unsellable quality products get through (we have a constant inflow of new employees that are learning) but I call BS on the hair tie. Somebody at the actual wearhouse stole what you ordered and swapped it out

      Items both sold and fulfilled by Amazon, Items sold by 3rd party but shipped by Amazon and items both sold and shipped by 3rd party all have different return policies at hand I know that for a fact since I work at Amazon's Customer Service and that is what we keep telling customers not all items sold at Amazon have the same policy.
      Meaning of you return an item sold and fulfilled by Amazon and another item sold and fulfilled by a 3rd party seller. We either tell you to wait until the item gets process by the Amazon Return Center or if there any issue with the return and if the 3rd party seller has declined your refund because of some issues with your return or another. I don't want to spill the beans but there are also those who really do abuse Amazon's Return Policy as well as those issues with delivery saying they didn't receive the item they ordered.
      And I know for a fact spilling this information will get me reprimanded if they see this comment so I hope they don't.

    As an Amazon worker, when we scan items to pack, some vendors send us hair ties that incorrectly show up as graphic cards on our screens. We usually flag these items and send them back. However, some do slip through the cracks and get sent to the customers.

    Getting to the point of actually speaking to a live person in customer service for Amazon is a task in and of itself. Let alone trying to get them to understand that the package I was returning had arrived in 2 separate boxes and that I needed more than one return label generated as by default they only give you one. My gosh it stole 2 hours of my time just for that part alone.

    That's why I always record while opening any box , it is the best fix to this problem

    I smell class action lawsuit brewing if they are not verifying the equipment they are reselling and then denying returns for products that you didnt make a monetary agreement for.

    What really happens is that the return policy gets abused. So what they do is that they allow you to do x amount of returns and if you hit that mark you are marked as a scammer. You have to go to top stores to avoid problems

    I completely agree, but you're probably not receiving returned items.
    Returned items don't go back into circulation directly. They throw it out, send it to the distirbutor, or sell the item on a return pallet.
    It's your delivery people. They're switching out the items.

    I work at a amazon return center its crazy how many people return their orders cause it was a completely different item. But its hard to tell if there lying or being truthful about it.

    I actually read somewhere in the fine prints that the number of return one can make through one account is limited to 75 times. I read it one day while claiming a return.

    Because of this, getting used items or cheap knockoffs, tgings getting comple lost in transit and things getting delayed for days during shipping, I rarely use Amazon anymore.

    Quite a few of the returned items go straight to a liquidator. Amazon doesn't even touch millions of pounds of returns. It would be way too time consuming dealing with all the returns.

    Had this happen at sams club. I was new into pc gaming and bought a prebuilt that was suppose to have a 4070 graphics card and it ended up having a GTX 650 which was released in 2013. Being new I didn’t know the difference until I FaceTimed my buddy who wanted to see the unit out of excitement and he pointed out how the card didn’t look right . Sure enough someone did a swap. Everything was packaged normal and look unopened. Even the old graphics card was immaculate. Still dumbfounded to this day.

    The worst ones are sd cards. They loooove sending broken sd cards or ones with less than the listed capacity.

    This is why i always record me opening the amazon packages. I have hard proof that i received the wrong or damaged item literally every single time

    I had a driver deliver an unsealed, empty package the other day, and when I went into the order to get support, all of the options other than a straight up refund required the missing item to be returned, as if I could exchange something I had never received.

    Also if your account gets flagged you will have to be at the location of delivery and have a six digit one time password or the last two numbers of the phone number associated with your account.
    It is a huge inconvenience for the customer and driver but Amazon refuses to crackdown on their shady seller and continually punishes the customers and their own work staff.

    regardless of which online store you use, everytime I buy anything online I film the entire unboxing for proof of wrongly sent items.
    simply place phone on the edge of a table with the camera outside of the table, hit record, show any marks/signs of damage in the package, and repeat it layer by layer, check that the box contains everything it should contain.
    if there's anything wrong you will have irrefutable proof that you are the victim
