FINALLY a festival essentials video that speaks the truth and not from someone who's staying in a hotel the whole time showing off the 12 makeup pallets and 30 crop tops that you 'need'
Lol
Aw Helen, you didn't mention sunscreen! It's probably common knowledge but I'm really scared of sunburns. So yeah, I noticed it. Great vid babe, got a lot of extra tips out of it!
Oh poo I forgot to add that!!
I feel like no matter how many times you go to leeds/reading festival you'll never ever ever be prepared for the horrific toilets ahahha
Ductape is vital, theres so many uses for it! Just incase theres tears and what not and you can build awesome beer staffs with them XD Plasters/ first aid, AND A TORCH! for moving around when theres a bazillion tents in front of you in the pitch black dark, and bumbag to store all money/phone/I.D/cards/expensive shit (last year friends tent got robbed £200 in the first night). Also caffeine tablets because it gets exhausting camping and going to see bands, pillows/sleeping bag/cutlery/binbags/clothes/sunlotion, makeup and lastly a mini hair brush because my hair gets wild and knotted. Without this being too much of a list, DONT FORGET YOUR TICKET GUYS! Have fun!
Great list! I'd add chapstick, feminine supplies (tampax is so expensive at festivals) and a few bin bags - take one with you each day to sit on when the ground is wet.
Thats why we love you Helen! Your a real person who talks about poo x x
i always bring a lilo to sleep on, much better than sleeping on the hard floor, takes like 10 mins to blow it up and then you can just leave it there cos they're only cheap. i also buy one of those £2 pillows from tesco that come rolled up so its small and easy to pack, gotta love the extra comfort!!
Me too!!!
I've done a fair few festivals over the last three years and I'd say my biggest tip is take loads of cereal/breakfast bar things. Because they're made to substitute breakfast they keep you full for ages and you save so much money because you only have to eat once in the arena!
I agree! I could of shown you all the food I wa taking but it would of taken ages haha
This video was uploaded on my birthday and one of my presents were tickets to a music festival. I'll take this video as a personal gift from Helen.
(But seriously this will be very usefull :) Greetings from Lithuania!)
This video is so much better than the other festival essentials videos I have seen, thank you Helen I needed this, I'm going to my first festival in 20 days! Woohoo !
I always take super noodles and pot noodles and rice pots because they're really light to carry and quite filling and not bad tasting 👍😉😘
Loving the 5L of JD and coke. So much better than filling like 20 water bottles.
Would love it if you could do an updated one of these for this year. Just for some more ideas?🙃
Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo!! www.zerreau.com you will love it!
These essentials are also really useful for working at the renaissance faire haha. We camp at the faire site all weekend, no running water or proper bathrooms, its a smelly awesome experience.
I always bring makeup removal wipes, just to keep my face not feeling as oily or nasty. I don't shower but I always bring those removal wipes.. It makes me feel like I can actually survive the festival time. Love some of your tips!!! 😊 ❤
Bin Bags; bins get ridiculously overfull at festivals so when you're trying to pack away on the sunday it's a good idea to have a bin for yourself! Or if your clothes are wet, keeps them separate from your dry stuff, or muddy boots and they're SO USEFUL for putting on the base of your tent (like inside) incase it rains because nobody bringing a proper groundsheet to a festival. Plus they weigh NOTHING. Also string and pegs. Trust me, even if you don't end up using them they only weighed a tiny amount. Wine in boxes for cheap drinking and no decanting from glass (tesco do like white and rose I think in the same size cartons as juice so you don't need to buy a whole box of wine). And for food; cereal bars and dried fruit. Nutritious and energy filled and SUPER light (for when you get those famous 'drinking' munchies Helen mentioned ;) ) I had my first festival (Reading) last year but had a bloody load of camping experience that I incorporated, and I must say these are the must haves. And be prepared to pay 3 quid for a shit cup of tea.
Really relevant and helpful tips! A lot of the time these videos aren't that helpful - its all the sort of thing any festival rookie could figure out on their own but this was totally on point.
I thought I was pretty savvy when it comes to packing for festivals, but now I have realised I was just scraping the top when it comes to essentials! Holy moly, I am going to be prepared for festival season 2015!
Great tips Helen, but DON'T use paracetamol when you have been drinking! You can get serious liverdamage! If you have to use painkillers use ibuprofen instead! :)
Ooooh no! Most people I know take a paracetamol of needed with a hang over! But that's for saving me liver xxxx
@@helenanderz There were cases when people died after taking 10 tablets of paracetamol and later drinking 200ml of vodka. It damaged their liver so bad so it stopped working and they died few weeks after. Good video, but really should add it to the description since people literally can die from it.
NEEDED THIS!
Wow, this is such perfect timing! Going to a festival today and tomorrow.
Battery operated lanterns to hang whilst you sitting in the campsite! And loads of batteries from the pound shop haha.
Bug repellant too. You can get little bracelets that have bug repellant in the material :)
FemFresh this is why I love Helen 😂
What is FemFresh for?!
Really ?
To clean your lady parts
ChocoBlake to keep your girlygirly parts clean.
Pits & bits Festival kits are another amazing way of getting clean with no water needed ! Eco friendly too !
I advise to keep outfits as simple as possible because it is most likely that you will get beer or wee thrown at you and you obviously don't want to ruin an expensive outfit. If you're going to s festival this year have an amazing time 💘
I know the Compeed blister pads can be quite expensive, Tesco do their own variety that you can get more in for £1 and they stay on SO much better in my experience and come in 2 different sizes. Highly recommend :)
This video was so helpful & you posted it just in time because I'm going to bonnaroo this week!
Got here early haha :) ! I've never been to a festival but I think I'd really like to ! I've always been a little worried about showers etc but you've reassured me that everyone is just filthy and it's all part of the vibe! Thanks Helen, great products & tips about water and loos :) xxx
make sure that you check the particular festival that you are going to because every festival has different rules about allowed/prohibited items.
Another essential in my opinion is mouth wash!!! Sometimes brushing your teeth throughout the day isn't an option and wastes a lot of time,", so having a miniature mouthwash to take around with you can work wonders!
I'm still obsessed with your hair!
I have been waiting for this video for so long OUR so happy!
mate that blister....
I always take a bag of carrots to festivals because they give you a lot of nutrients and they're a nice healthy snack
So many good tips in this! (:
One year we took a tiny camping stove to Leeds Festival and cooked tinned spaghetti and stuff in the campsite, a lot less hassle than it sounds and was a fun way to pass time in a morning before the arena opened.
Going to my first festival this year, definitely going to be buying everything you spoke about!
The body splash sounds amazing!
i love how you're all about living the life and having fun but being safe and careful at the same time, great advice helen, can't wait to go to a couple of festivals this summer! xx
I try to compact EVERYTHING as much as possible because the walk in to download is a beast. I went as far to squeeze out portions of toothpast and put it in a tiny weed baggy lol. You could put your big bottle of spritzer in a tiny spray bottle you get from super drug the empty ones just so it's not so beefy. It was a godsend my rosewater spirtz with the heatwave.
Also Instead of a towel I bring a micro fibre one. BEcause they're so itty bitty tiny like the size of a tensi ball but absorbs all the water if you brave the showers. The showers really arn't that bad you just cant be shy about getting your hoohah and boobies out.
I make a hangover mix that I put into a smoothie (I have bought smoothies with me for the morning and they've lasted in intense heat without going funky) It's just crushed paracetamol, spirunela, ginger shavings, coconut oil in a bag for electrolytes and whatever else health stuff u can shove in there that wont go mouldy. Just my main issue when at festivals is staying awake with all the excersize and heat. So Kale crisps are good for staying awake too. (HAHA i sound like a right square there are OTHER Things people take to stay awake but you know)
Bring a camping chair especially if its a big group of you. If you have a chair your in the circle lol.
Oh and look up female urinal. not the sheewees they fucking suck they just make wee go everywhere but the flask type wee things are really good. The amount of beer you drink through the day makes you piss like anything, men can go to a bush but girls have to go to the porta potty every fucking 10 minutes. So just pee in that in your tent it wont spill and chuck it far away from any tents. My camp always camps far away froma ny porta potty so i'd miss half the night if I was going to be a lady about peeing. < If you can call the porta pottys lady like D: haha.
Absolutely amazing! I'm going to a festival called Brownstock on the 10th of July and didn't know what to take, I'm happy now you done this! Maybe do a festival lookbook? Or just like 'essential clothes to take to a festival' I reckon that'll help a lot of people!
this is the first of many videos I will see of you and now I love you ❤️❤️ you're such an enthusiastic person !! we need more people like you on CZcams
Great tips!! Loving your top in this
Man I cried all the way through this, can't go this year due to work and it's my prom. Have fun gal!
Love your fest essentials vids! And porta loos sounds way better than porta potties, lol.
Better than the last festival essential video i watched, nice job 👍
Ohh thanks Helen I'm off to shop for download essentials tomorrow so this as really helped thank you :D
Thank u for the tips Helen. This year I'm going to a festival (five days!) for the very first time in my life but it's also going to be my first time camping. Ever. I'm so nervous yet soooo excited about everything! I'm a bit worried about the food and what to eat because I have an illness and I never thought of the water bottle you mentioned. Thank u
Brilliant, adding this to favs
Cannot wait for download!! Don't forget sun-cream!! I was badly burnt last year! x
Just so you know I worked at Love Saves The Day festival the other week and selfie sticks were BANNED! I thought it was a ridiculous thing to have on contraband items (along with the usual illegal stuff and fireworks etc.) and I didn't think many people would bring selfie sticks to have them taken off them when they entered the site but unfortunately we did have a small collection by the end of each day! DON'T TAKE SELFIE STICKS (just in case!!)
totalH20 Graspop Metal Meeting is also banning selfiesticks this years
Love your hearts tee. Good festival Recs! I've been to quite. Few too and this is def a good packing list
In 2 weeks I'm going to my 5th festival and I've always used those John West lunches! I even had one of my guy friends take one because he thought it looked so good xD. Also I always bring my biggest summer scarf to use as a blanket to sit on in the festival grounds. You never know what went on that floor just hours before!
Can't wait! I think I've almost got everything.
A packing video would be great! I always struggle taking everything!
Best ways to sneak drink into a festival!
Yessss! I needed this video, you have no idea. I love you, Helen, you're the best! xx
i make sure to always have a spare pair of socks! in case it rains and you get all wet, you dont want to stay all day in wet and gross socks. it happened to me once and i never leave for a concert or festival without one more pair now cause i dont wanna live that nightmare again haha
I've never been to a festival, feel like im really missing out!!
Aw loved this Helen
Can't wait to start going to festivals😍
TAMPONS !! Just in case ;p
Helen! You should go to Roskilde Festival i Denmark! It's a festival with a lot of different Music:)
I know you live in England and Denmark is NOT that far away, so maybe you should go? ;)))
You're looking really healthy and happy! Keep up the hard work beaut it's paying off xx
I think this is TOTALLY needed at a festival!
Loved this video Helen! Please could you do a video on like tents and other things you may need. I'm going to Leeds festival this year :)
Love this vid cos it's so honest and true, I don't shower at festivals either! FUCK IT! who has the time?!
This video is so helpful! Definitely agree with the imodium, such a life saver! xxx
The water at Download is so dodge! I was a sufferer last year of that!
Sunscreen, and a hat are the only things I can think of that you left out. Great video! Awesome tips.
from a fellow festival gyal I think you've got it all covered! im going to three this summer, Nass, Boomtown and Bestival!!
Another thing not really festival essential, but sort of. Don't just bring one pair of jeans. Cause they may rip on a fun fair ride in the arena and then you have to walk around in ripped jeans cause your leggings were drying in your tent. Not like that happened to me or anything.. So, pro tip - more than one pair of trousers/ maybe even 3 pairs of trousers. And, remember to take babywipes into the arena, cause when a bottle of piss gets thrown at the stage and you are standing near the front, you will get splashed, and then smell of wee. So gross. D: yay festivals though! Need to go to some more next year. xx
Thanks,Helen! Such a useful video. Half of the things you mentioned i would totally forget if you hadn't talked about them. :D
I think your wonderful! And your festival videos are SO SO good and very helpful!
More festival themed videos in general please I love them 🦁
I never stay at festivals over night but if I were to I'd sleep in my car - safer than tents
this got me so excited for summer!! great video helen xx
Thanks Helen :D I was wondering what food to bring because last year I went to my first festival and only ate nachos! I'll have a look for those tuna things :D
My top tip is to bring something warm to wear in your sleeping bag. Even when I was in my sleeping bag I was still shivering at night and in the end I had to buy a monkey onsie xD Camping chairs are also great :)
Im with you on the immodium, i always take some to festivals. Bloody alcohol! Lol
Love it! The most real tips for festivals! Thanks hun!! Muuuuah!! :*
Have a good 'trip' ;)
I really wanted you to say 'shit happens' whilst talking about the diarrhoea pill😂
I'm going to V festival in August and it helped a lot. Thank you Helen 😍😙😋
I'm at the Isle of Wight festival right now !!!!! X

janellej11 i live on the isle of wight :)
Suncream! I went to Leeds last year and ended up getting really badly burnt because although it wasnt that hot it was really sunny :/
that giant jack n coke (water) bottle thing is amazing. I wonder if it's possible to buy something like that here in Denmark
I'm going to Camp Bestival with a group of friends and family! Very excited x
I'm going this year! Any tips? Xx
bring toilet paper! as weird as it sounds they never have enough! haha, just enjoy it, its so fun xx
+Izzy McCleave okAy thank you! Haha xx
DON'T FORGET SUNSCREEN PEOPLE! ❤️
Oh, and getting one of those silly little cheap plastic spray bottles that have the fan attached to 'em prob wouldn't be a bad idea too lol
I also will always have those Nauzene chewables from Walgreens on me because nothing's worse than being out having fun and nausea just randomly hits you.
Those chews work like a charm. 👌
I love how your just so realistic and genuine x
I'm going to a 3-day festival next weekend, so taking notes! thnx helen :)
I've harped on about Imodium for years too!!! The very mates that slag me for it usually sheepishly end up needing some lol suckas!! 😘💜
I'm going to a festival this weekend, thanks for the tips, love u, xox.
lovely as usual helen! Xx
This is making me want to go to a festival now oh dear

You're making me even more exited for the festival I'm going to with my friends damn
Crispieees! best advice ever.
Omg your so beautiful! I'm obsessing over your hair rn!!
Glatonbury next week. So excited!!!
aloe vera gel incase you get really bad sunburn! it's soooo soothing and an absolute life saver
the way British people say caprisun is so cute haha
Oh my god Helen I'd forgotten most of this stuff last year for kings of Leon. I only I knew then what I know now 😂💓
