- On Friday 6th May 2022, the Southern Downs Steam Railway based in Warwick conveyed Scott McGregor's "Borderlands Steam Adventure" tour group on their final day of the tour from Warwick Railway Station to the historic Toowoomba Railway Station.
After bidding farewell to the tour group, the locomotive was turned on the angle before rejoining the train for an empty transfer run back to Warwick. I joined the footplate crew with Drivers Stephen Shepherd and Adam Cole for the return journey where the train arrived just on dusk to complete what was a very enjoyable day.
Love it Paul, great work and we go on these sdsr trips all the time
Thanks Mark. FYI, 971 will be out of action during June for much needed maintenance to be carried out, so the DH45 will be used for all trips in June. Hopefully a return to steam services from July.
@@paul1089 Shame but these old girls must be safe and they are so great. The DH45 is another classic diesel. I will be going back on these in October. Always enjoys your videos and great to see your brother has a big passion for these too.
awesome video paul, from start to finish. i liked the sound of the exhaust at 42:41. that sounded good.
Pleased to hear you enjoyed watching.
I wanna do this
Another Stella effort boys! Love watching you work, you're very professional. Nice to see that part of the road, too. I never got to work passed Toowoomba and only worked the Warwick to Wallangarra Section. Did Adam have a cook up on the shovel? You'll have to get him trained right Stevo!!
Thanks Adrian. There was no cook up on the shovel on the return journey.
@@paul1089 I've already schooled up your brother about that. Best of luck on your up coming tests.
Great footage....is that engine limited to 40km/hr on the mainline. Just curious re the notice displayed prominently in front of the driver?
Management restricted the speed to 40 km/hr to save on wear and tear. Though the loco runs smoother above this speed.
@@paul1089 Thanks. Seems a bit excessive though....
