*I've seen a few people point this out, but the probability odds are SLIGHTLY different than pure fractions, like I list on this video.
The real formula for probability is "(1-(4095/4096)^[how many rng rolls you have])". Your end result on these formulas will be very similar to ([how many rng rolls you have/4096]), but the exact math formula accounts for the fact that you can't pull 2 shinies out of 1 spawn.

I don't have the game. But I'm still watching this video because I love Pokémon.
All I'm gonna say is that I hope Verlisify doesn't trash talk this video also.
Hey JWittz. Apparently just letting overworld pokemon despawn by themselves doesnt actually despawn them. They will just pop back up later, not shiny, because they are the same pokemon. In order to despawn them and get fresh spawns, you need to either run away from each of the pokemon or leave the route and come back. Otherwise your odds go way down because the actual number of pokemon you are encountering is much smaller than if you force the pokemon to despawn or refresh the route by leaving
One quite interesting thing you forgot to mention, is the possibility to actually build up a combo by encountering a bunch of the same Pokémon in the GO Park. Wich can help a lot with some of the rare spawns. :)
TheJWittz Did you seriously use a Masterball on a shiny? 🤦🏻♂️
To be clear: there have been MASIVE updates on how Shiny Hunting Works in this game. Shiny hunting catch combos only raise you chances of a shiny Pokémon for the next spawn, and that’s it. You can keep catching though, and each spawn from that point on will have those odds.
You know the NPC that gives you a Charmander at route 24? He gave me a free shiny Charmander. It is not always shiny. I got SO lucky!
Yup! Static encounter shinies are pretty crazy in this game. I wouldn't recommend hunting for the non-legendaries, but getting a shiny without even trying for one is awesome!
@@TheJWittz it was crazy. I got it on the day after I bought the game but didn't check it's stats or anything because I already had a Charizard from Pokemon go. I beat the game and then some without even knowing it was a shiny. I only found out by checking the pokedex to see what I do and don't have. I also ran across a shiny clefairy in Mount moon on the same day. No lures, catch combos, or the shiny charm. Shiny odds are crazy. Lol.
Congrats! Hope you have more shiny luck in the future ^_^
@@gecototodile thanks. I was chaining over 100 Pikachu to find a shiny metapod yesterday. Caught it and it's in the daycare for now.
The crazy things I have had in this game is while comboing for a shiny Ponyta a Doduo appeared right infront of my face and ran straight into me and it was shiny, talk about freebie! the second things was I entered bike road with NO combo, NO lure, no nothing and I hear the sound of Zapdos and there he was, a wild Zapdos flying in the sky at the top of Bike road. that was pretty insane to me
Insanely important note that was missed for 3.2 when it comes to Pokemon fleeing. All of the Pokemon in the game have multiple animations while trying to catch them, and a large number of them have a special animation that indicates when they are about to run. The easiest way to tell this is when a Pokemon's cry plays, and an animation goes off, but the circle for catching a Pokemon does NOT disappear. Certain Pokemon like Horsea do NOT have a special animation, but the circle does stay. If a Pokemon does this special animation, or the circle stays while it looks like they attack, RUN IMMEDIATELY to be as safe as possible. You will have roughly 5-10 seconds before a Pokemon that does this animation flees. A simple way to check the animation for each Pokemon is to open the Pokedex and play the Pokemon's animations, and look for the one that isn't the attacking animation (besides the select few that have their attack animation overlap with their flee animation).
Good luck, and happy hunting!
This whole time I thought that was some kind of bug hahaha thanks for that info
I am so glad I saw this before chaining chansey, thanks so much for the info. That's super important info, and I got both a shiny chansey and lickitung with this chain. Thanks!
Yeah, as soon as you see it's about to flee, don't even bother scrolling through the action menu, just press *B* to instantly pull up the "Do you wanna flee?" window. Much easier to quickly get off, since seeing that your combo is about to break can make it hard to not accidentally hit the wrong button on the little side menu.
If you run away is the shiny gonna respond instantly?
Late, but also when the circle slows down.

I've seen a few people point this out, but the probability odds are SLIGHTLY different than pure fractions, like I list on this video.

Trading in the game isn’t the only way to obtain normal alolan Raichu. You can also send over alolan Raichu from Pokémon GO. However they won’t be shiny.
TheJWittz One thing you should know how you can tell if they are about to run they awasy they do a special animation before they run At least a couple seconds after the animation
TheJWittz And standing in one place is a bad idea because it takes longer for the games memory to refresh the Pokémon because the game stores for a while what Pokémon were in the area and takes a while to refresh
catch combo 0-10 & shiny charm: 3/4096
Catch combo 0-10 & shiny charm w/ lure: 4/4096
Catch combo 11-20 & shiny charm w/ lure: 7/4096
I already found 2 shinies in the game. One was a shiny pidgy using the catch combo method and the other was a shiny raticate with random encounters not even shiny hunting!
I was chaining Caterpie and ended up with a shiny Bulbasaur. Needless to say I was not disappointed.
Literally this exact same thing happened to me, that's wild
i got 2 shiny caterpie :D
in 1 day
i was chaining bulbasaurs and ended up with a shiny caterpie after 10 hours. needless to say i was very disappointed.
lmao the same thing happened to me yesterday, except instead of Caterpie I was hunting Bellsprout
17:10 Just be mindful...EVERY TIME YOU LEAVE THE ROOM, YOU RISK A SHINY SPAWNING *THE MOMENT YOU LEAVE*
I have seen this happen a lot on Twitter.
I remember your x/y and oras shiny guide, those were the good times
I still use that video, it was very well made
Holy s***** this is a really in-depth video, thanks!
PSA! DO NOT USE 2 ULTRABALLS WHEN USING 2 JOYCONS. THE ONLY BALL THAT MATTERS IS THE BALL PLAYER ONE USES. i recommend making player 2 use pokeballs as they are cheeper
For real?
@@DylanPDB
yep
Tanks bru
How about 1 ultra and 1 poke?
Wish I'd known that while I was chaining Snorlax last night. At least now I know better.
Literally 15 minutes after watching this, I found a shiny Chansey, thank you so much!
Tip for anyone hunting charmander, I’ve had a lot of success in rock tunnel. Tons of charmander spawns with a lure on.
Shiny pokemon hunting in the main games has always felt like a nightmare to me. Just... grueling and not fun. But shiny hunting in Let's Go? with them in the overworld and catch comboing?
IT IS FUN TO SHINY HUNT!!!
This is amazing.
It's literally the same thing
@@cjgonzales7137 It's not even remotely the same thing.
@@Doctors_TARDIS shiny hunting is shiny hunting lmao and it still takes time
It's way to easy to find shinies now already have 30 different shinies in lets go
@@cjgonzales7137 There is a main difference: you can see the shiny right on the overworld map, without having to go battle it. You don't even have to move around that much from one spot to spot one once you've done all the steps.
And that is a major difference in one's perception of shiny hunting.
my first shiny in this game was a weedle on route 1 when i first started the game. he stayed on my team throughout the whole journey.
FINALLY!! Ive been catching the streams awaiting this!
Yess I've been waiting all day for this 🙏
9:30 You forgot to mention that the Pokemon does a special animation and still have the white circle around them when they're going to flee. Just want to point it out.
JWittz back with the great content! Keep up the great work!
Out of all the shiny hunting guides on YT rn, this is easily my favorite. Straight to the point, no BS, factually correct with enough personal experience to keep it fun to learn. Great vid man, keep up the great work!
The most cursed thumbnail
By the way, nice to see you again. Been watching since the original Shiny Pokémon video
"You could hunt with a friend, and have them join in your suffering.."
I'm dying 😂
It's ALWAYS good to hear your voice and input on these games! I been pretty sick aince I have gotten this game . (pre ordered it!) But i managed a day 1 chansey and brought it up to lvl 52 already!
Hands down the best shiny hunting guide out. Great to see someone talk about how anoying the rings around small and large pokemon make it harder to spot less obvious shines. Subbed for sure and will watch more videos in the future
Was waiting for this, seriously amazing job with this, such a comprehensive well put together guide ^_^
I've been watching the kero the wolf stuff all day and it's been making me sick to my stomach, so I really needed this video today
Jeez, I remember when all that crap with Kero was going on....fun times... >_>
Best shiny hunting video I've seen! Love the thorough, yet concise and clear explanations. Also, I LOVE the table of contents. Great video!
Such a great and well made video, Jwittz :D
Extremely in depth and informative. I've seen several other guides but this was the most fun.
I dont even have LGPE, but JWittz uploading will make me come running
Plus, if I DO get LGPE, shiny hunting will probably be the first thing I do
I literally started shiny hunting a pidgey before even arriving to the first town!!! XD eventually one ran away on me, but then i started hunting nidoran boys and ended up with a shiny weedle! 1badge! XD
0:19 this dude used a masterball on a chansey
Ayy! I've been waiting for this. You hyped it up on Twitter a lot and it didn't disappoint.
Shinies are so pretty in this game.
I'm very pleased you covered all bases! now i dont have to try making a guide. you're already far more popular than me too. XD and im SO GLAD you told other people about the pokemon growing easier to catch too!
I've only found 1 pure random shiny. it was a snorlax. no lure, no catch combo.
The second was an accident, spawning a Chansey shiny after 20 catches and lure boost. i was actually just grinding for XP.
I only cared to hunt ONE SPECIFIC shiny and that was my beloved Ninetales shiny. dont really care for others besides arbok and ponyta because they're nice colors. most of the time i just want that 4-5 IV. and when i was told about running before they did to save the combo i was super into the game again after being bummed out on broken chains.
1:22 OK THIS IS JUST TAUNTING ME AS I AM WATCHING THIS VIDEO BECAUSE I JUST HAD A SHINY PONYTA RUN!
That thumbnail though. Just wow.
I fell like its been forever since I saw a video from you. Glad to see everything is still going strong. :)
not only good to see a video from you but also a great comprehensive guide to something that most people don't know much about
Glad you’re back but that thumbnail is creepy imo lol

Thank you for being such an awesome guy, first off. I love both your videos and your streams, even if sometimes I can't make it to them.
Thank you for making this video guide. I'm sharing it with every Pokemon fan I know so they can have an easier time getting their own shinies. I hope your holidays are as great as you are.
I've been watching these videos since 2012 and somehow your videos are still such high quality. Thanks for making such in depth and quality content!
I'm about to start Shiny Hunting for Mewtwo. Wish me luck!
Good luck
did you find jt
lol My college courses had less work than this xD
Word, right?
Lucky
It was great watching this video come together on your live streams! Thanks for all the hard work Wittz
This is one of the most extensive and honestly best shiny hunting guide for Let’s Go out at the moment! I’ll be sure to use it for myself and my mom when we shiny hunt together! Thank you for this amazing guide! ❤️
It's here! Wish you hadn't forgotten to do one on sm and usum.
@@krutarthdave1938 what?
@@dayalasingh5853 sorry. Responded to the wrong thing.
Start the game in Spanish (or any language other than what you normally play with)
Get to Mount Hokulani
Catch a Ditto
Transfer it to an English game
That Ditto and the Shiny Charm gives you an easy 1/512 for anything that can breed.
@@krutarthdave1938 can't even remember what you said.
@@narusferree6506 I'll do French since I speak it, I have a German ditto anyways
So I can keep my combo if I run away before my target does? Very useful info, JWittz!
Yes. You still have your combo, even if you run away.
wow this is such a friendly way of explaining it. i had a good idea how it worked, but ur solid explanations solidified that in me. thank you so much!
So I finally caved and bought Let's Go. I am having a blast by not using my Eevee, mainly catching only new ded entries etc. Its the 1st main series game I've played since Ruby and Sapphire and then I skipped to Sun and Moon (which was a blur).
Anyway, for no real reason besides watching CZcams videos. I got stuck shiny hunting Vulpix on Route 6 before even completing the S.S Anne. After a few hours of hunting off and on, I set down my switch in sleep mode. I came back after an hour, opened it up. And there she was. A golden Vulpix. My 1st shiny in any main series game. Thanks to you and Adrives video's for keeping the faith of the odds!
I've found Bulbasaur and Charmander without building a catch combo or using lures.
Yeah, not very related to the topic, but being a *competitive Pokémon player,* breeding and EV training new competitive Pokémon has always an "exciting but boring" experience for me and so, whenever I'm doing it, I do it while watching videos/streams (I remember doing this a lot while watching JWittz shiny hunt in Pokémon Ultra Sun/Moon) and it has made competitive training much more fun and bareable IMO! :D
bro you put in a table on contents... you're my hero
This is the most comprehensive all you need to know guide for lets go and jwittz has done it again! kudos and thanks!
Ah, the one time I caught a Shiny Psyduck in the wild without hunting in LGE..
Of course, that doesn't mean I'm gonna stop there!
I really hope they bring these kind of shiny hunting techniques to Gen 8.
probably the best explanation of shiny hunting in these games that I've seen so far. Thank you for it. :)
I love how you explained this JWittz!!! Very well done. Thank you !
inb4 verlis says this is wrong
but really, its great to see you back josh :)
Some people say he will appear if you say his name 3 times, but I wouldn't risk it.
That isn't how math works when talking about odds and rolls. 15 rolls at 1 in 4096 odds is still 1 in 4096, you just get 14 extra tries. You can't really say it's 1 in 273. You're rolling 15 dice that have 4096 sides, not one die with 273 sides.
Thanks to your awesome tips I managed to find a Shiny Caterpie! I was watching your video while combing! Keep up the good work JWittz! :D
Great video! Thank you for the info, I have been searching around for sure.
"the shiny might never appear" yeah that is helping a lot
Your math is off in section 1, you just summed probability, where as you're supposed to calculate the inverse probability (the odds of not finding a shiny) then multiply that by itself 15 times (for the optimal calculation). This leaves you with an actual probability of 0.00365585743, 0.365% instead of the 0.366% that you had (1/273.5336 vs 1/273.06) which is such a small difference that I'm being ornery just bringing it up. Technically, you are including the chance that you might catch two shiny pokemon in one catch, which obviously shouldn't be included.
Thank you! I too was very confused when I saw the numbers in screen while he was talking about the 'additional rolls'. Two different things!
This was definitely a nice summary of the dozens of Let’s Go shiny hunting videos.
Great video JWittz! Really helpful
Ive been playing the games for 10 years and have not once ran into a shiny
Sometimes you just have to look.
They’re easy to find if you’re purposely looking. I’ve found I think at least 5 accidentally.
I found a full odd shiny tangela in hg
I was just trying to get trought mt.moon and accidentaly found a shiny clafairy
oh me too! how are some of yall so lucky to find a shiny, no less a whole team of them
Yay!! New Video!
Thanks for a really great guide. I like how you've taken the time to really get to know the game before releasing this. A lot of other videos were released quickly but contain wrong information. Thanks again
Amazing guide. Easily the best guide out there. Thank you.
Brooo I found 2 chansey while shiny hunting for gastly and I found three shiny tentacool while shiny hunting for horsea
The title picture of this video will give me nightmares
Such a brilliantly made piece of Pokémon content! Thank you. You have a new follower in me.
amazing video and especially the table of contents!!
Thumbnail lookin deviantart esk. In all seriousness, whoever made it I complement since it looks great
The thumbnail actually scares me...
Glad its not just me that thinks the thumbnail looks a bit off. I love the colors but the faces look iffy to me.
Looks like a furry artist i've seen before and it concerns me
It was his wife, I like it tbh
is it sad that I had a pen and paper and wrote down everything and drew out all the charts. ;-;
Great job man, perfectly wrapped up the important factors and i feel like shiny hunting for the first time! This game is easier and pretty straight forward, i might try it after i finish the game.
Long time no see J!
Keep up the best work!
Shiny Charizard=Black Dragon In Mope.io
Check out the CZcamsr NovoxGamer , he has a shiny Eevee companion but didn’t show how he got it. He could of hacked or whatever but he only speaks Spanish on his channel so I really can’t understand what he says 😅
Please like this so JWittz can see this!! 🙏🏻
Well I am not JWittz but I speak/understand Spanish and he explain how he got the "shiny" Eevee. When you watch the video carefully you can see that his Eevee hasn't a shiny indicator (the star in the menu or team view). With the help of some other guy he managed to manipulate the game data to change the color of his Eevee. It's more like a reskin. He just choose the shiny color for his shiny hunting series. So he could even change the color to pink/green/black.
Juan Antonio Jimenez Oh cool! Thanks for letting me know :) shame it’s not a real shiny tho
I watched this and about four hours later I caught two weedles, one caterpie, and one bulbasaur...all shinys by the way. Thanks for the guide, very very helpful!
Jwittz you don’t need to worry about not uploading too often. Your content has always been high quality stuff and we all enjoy it when it comes out. Put your heart into it and everyone will love it :)
I caught around 400+ bulbasaur. No shiny.
But!
I have 5 shiny caterpie xD
Before you tell me my catch combo doesn't matter.
I know but hey that perfect bulbasaur amarite.
I thought he was dead
He is more active on Twitch
His channel is mostly dead but his twitch stream is functioning.
I thought he's a dad.
Excellent guide! I've been super lucky with 4 full odds shinies. Metapod, Pidgey, and 2 Rattata. I'm planning on getting in on the shiny hunting as I've never been so lucky in any Pokemon game. With hundreds, possibly thousands, of hours in every generation and never catching a single shiny (apart from Gyarados), finding that Metapod was a rush. XD
By far... the best video period on let's go.. PERIOD
You really always have the most well executed videos, great work!
SO many useful tips! I knew some, but some i didn;t! Thank you.
I still have your 6th gen Ultimate Shiny Hunting guide bookmarked, but I haven't referred to it in a while. I forgot just how detailed your guides are!
wow even a table of contents, great video!
good luck on your raichu hunt! they shiny is so amazing. also interested in your next video, from what i've heard from renae it sounds pretty funny
Thanks for the really in depth video! This will really help when I get the game in 2 months! SUPER HYPED!
I learned that you can trade for the Alolan forms multiple times to shiny hunt them from this. I thought it was one and done like the last gens. Thank you TheJWittz!
You could have split this into 10 videos, like everyone else, but you didnt. You're a true hero.
Great video! Never really looked for shinies in any game, but it would be cool to try it sometime. I noticed the odds increased from the “olden days.”
I've missed you Jwittz. Glad you finally managed to finish this video. I know you do a lot of streaming nowadays, but that's just not my type of content. I just prefer scripted videos, and yours are right at the top for me. Always highly informative, professional, funny, and most importantly, fun to watch.
This video was very helpful I never knew about these till 7 generation, and now I got my very first Shiny it’s a Weedle and it’s all thanks to you. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL, AND THANK YOU!!!!
Good to have you back JWittz
Finally you are back!! Į thought that you were dead
hinting looks so fun in here. i cant wait to get this
Oh... So this was the video you mention of making yesterday. NICE.
Thank you, thank you and thank you again for this video, it was SO helpful! I've looked up a few videos on shiny hunting but this is the most comprehensive one yet and as always your work is insightful and has nice moments of humour sprinkled in as well. Great stuff.
