- It's been a while since I have talked about Project Moon's biggest blunders in terms of EGOs or IDs, and this EGO in particular needs to have more people talking about it, and specifically...calling it terrible, like it deserves.

@@aegisScale His S3 used to give him Tremor Count below 10 tremor, and he was almost useable, S3 into S2 for 10 tremor Count and 4 coin 11 rolling S1 was actually fine, then he got bugfixed and he gives himself tremor potency bruh.
@@rexofired I actually like that he gives himself tremor potentency. When I use him I play the long game of building up something like 8 tremor count, use their S3 to give them 10 tremor potency, then move on to build the rest of their tremor count. Next time I use their S3 the boss now has 20 or so counts of 10 tremor added to whatever they have. Though I will admit, I avoid their S1 like the plague.
Can't wait for poise hong lu to appear out of the nether, just so ESGOO can look in horror that soda becomes 0,1% more useful

I can't get over that the corrosion has 5 tremor potency. Hong Lu has no Tremor ID. Why did they have to dip into TWO STATUSES that he can't support.

I do use Soda Lu in Mirror Dungeons, but never for the healing. It's usually "Oh, I'm about to use an envy resonance effect, and need as much Envy this turn as possible. Time to pull out the worst EGO in the game to make all the others better."

My only source of healing for most of Railway 2 was Soda Hong Lu. Needless to say, my plan became "don't get hit at all" when I realized my poor situation.
ESGOO almost distorting at the mere mention of stew is just keeps getting better 11 minutes and the times stew is mentioned he displays twice as much hate in comparison to the ego of the video lol

It's definitly Soda Lu, at the very least soupclair heals 10 percent hp while Hong lu only gives 8 hp and only if his ego crits! (Although he is mainly used for SP recovery)
Consider. Soda hong lu has the best animations of any awakening ego. Therefore, it can not be the worst because it has a niche.

Thats a nice video, however there is many reasons why it doesnt matters for me,i will name 3.
First is that Hong Lu's ids are above average consistantly,if not one of the best ids,but egos are like below awerage.
Second is you can beat the game as long as you not crippling yourself and reading,if it works,it works.
And third is that my love for Hong Lu is undeniable,i will love all of Hong Lu's egos and ids no matter how bad those are for usual player they are,Praise be Hong Lu.

First Turn Start of an Encounter: all allies gain 4 Poise Potency and +4 Poise Count.
When activating Pride Absolute Resonance, all allies gain 2 Poise Potency and +2 Poise Count at Combat Start.
dont forget the GOAT ++ upgrade that makes the potency and count gain go to +3 AND makes the activation condition regular degular old Resonance instead of Absolute Resonance, so you dont even need to line up 3 pride skills in a row and can just have 2 period.
I mean if you count mirror dungeon stuff you can run literally anything and have it work with a little luck. We have to operate as if they're in 'normal' conditions until we know more about specific situation. I mean fuck, I've had W-corp BLEED teams because of ego gifts.

I thought this would be about 4th Match Flame Yi Sang. While I don't think Soda Lu is *good* by any means, I always thought about Soda Lu as a "Fluid Sac we have at home" and I still use Soda Lu in my envy res teams that include Ting Tang Hong Lu. The current Opportunity Cost for equipping Hong Lu with Soda also isn't really that bad at the moment, It's either Soda or Roseate Desires, neither of which are great. Roseate is very niche in what it can do, and while Soda realistically only either heals HP or SP in negligible amounts that is a lot less niche compared to what Roseate can do. The only thing FMF Yi sang has going for it is that it's a 5 attack weight on a TETH and Slash, and it's going up against Wishing Cairn. Who has a higher floor than fmf's ceiling, has 3 attack weight, and is usable for it's EGO passive alone

Change all [On Attack End] into [On Hit] effects and suddenly all healing gets multiplied by the effective Attack Weight, which can go as high as 3, becoming a 90 HP (or SP) heal.
Not to say it'll save it by any means, but if we are to explore options that don't involve bringing back the % sign...

Hello goo man, this is a bit late but I was thinking about Soda Hong Lu because of this video and I wanted to hear your thoughts about this idea I had to make the EGO better and more interesting. For the awakening, how about making it on hit instead of on attack end? This would make the healing notably better as with no crit it would be 45HP to 2 allies which is still below average but much better than it currently is, and with crit it would be 69HP to 2 allies which is actually quite average (I'd say average health is around 200HP, and Pursuance heals 30% so that'd be 60HP; with excellent HP (around 250HP), it'd be 75HP). However, what I'm interested in is the potential the SP healing would have. It could heal 45SP to 2 allies with no crit and 69SP to 2 allies with crit. Obviously, this is REALLY GOOD and would give this EGO a niche that hasn't been filled by anything else in the game, (relatively) single-target high SP healing. And because of its high SP healing along with its moderate cost, one might be inclined to use this in the beginning of fights to jumpstart their SP economy which would mean that the passive the EGO has would also become better due to a more cohesive design. The best part about all of this is that it's so simple, it's just changing the on attack end to on hit, nothing is drastically changing in what the EGO itself does, it's just effectively making the numbers better in a more roundabout way. Also, we have nothing that gives allies SP on hit so it'll make Soda Hong Lu more unique as well.
As for the corrosion, there's the simple boring idea and the hopefully unlikely idea. The simple idea would be to make the actual power on the EGO better (either change the coin power to be -7 or change the skill power to be 33, both lead to the base becoming an 18 instead of a 10) and change the bind from a 1 to a 2. That's it, boring but it would make the corroded EGO not completely dogshit and instead only slightly dogshit. The more cool and unlikely idea is to not only add the things from the boring idea, but to also add a reversed effect that harms those who are hit instead of healing allies. On tails hit, deal HP damage to target; on heads hit, deal SP damage to target; on crit hit, deal HP and SP damage to target. It's pretty basic, but it would give the corroded EGO some much needed damage or utility and it thematically makes more sense than the current corrosion we have for this EGO.
Appreciate you reading this if you did, I would like to know if I'm healing everyone 10% of my max HP or giving everyone 7 burn.

I like how Lifetime Stew is the EGO version of Mariachi Sinclair. It's objectively bad possibly even the worst but people still love it and or find it funny because of how Sinclair uses it
Or maybe its just me, cause i just love how EGO is such a big deal in this game and its this thing that's supposed to peak your fighting capabilities yet LTS Sinclair completely fumbles using it having to catch his breath and regain his bearings everytime its used
Soupclairs passive is actually pretty good for burn teams though, and it can output decent healing if you get lucky.
Soda Hong Lu is just atrociously bad.

I was just talking about this exact topic with my friend yesterday, it popped up during a conversation about how forgettable/unused some ids and ego are and it sat right there next to diecei Yi Sang for us.
I, for one, find a certain beauty in the fact Hong Lu, the man with no bad IDs, got the single worst EGO that reads like a multilayered in-joke. I'm sure he himself appreciates it, too.
I will now use Soda Hong Lu even more just to spite this man. I don't care that it's bad, it gives Hong Lu a Magical Girl Transformation into a shrimp and that's funny to me.
I kinda excited. Im putting my money on Soda Hong Lu because at least soupclair at least has a descent passive if your using ninclair and a burn team while Soda Lu is just really boring. Or if your factoring opportunity cost I could see an argument Tele Faust the EGO i actively forget that I have because its not fluid sac but once Faust gets a good charge id then I imagine it will pop off (although I blame the existence of that ego for why PM has been hesitant to give her any new ones)
Now watch the Esgoo Curse work it's voodoo and then honglu NOT only gets a baller Poise ID, but also an amazing upgrade on Uptie 5.

A 10-14 Evade is actually extremely useful in the current Canto, because so many enemies can stick down paralyse to force your first evade to roll minimum power.

The moment I saw the gloom cost I knew the problem, as someone’s been running an Envy Res team since Line 3 dropped, that gloom gen has been a problem, I had to switch Captain Ishmael to Reindeer Ishmael to get that gloom gen
ESGOO, I will offer you one niche counterpoint off the top of my head: Shi Heathcliff and Ishmael, Mirror Dungeon and a Blue Zippo Lighter.
Might still not work out well but if nothing else, it would be a funny experiment for me to try later.
Specifying here as I didn't want to spoil the surprise made revealed not even a second into the video;
So, Shi Heath and Ish. Two IDs that requires >50% HP (>25% in Ishmael's case) to get the most of their kit and (as a certain other video in the community pointed out) has EGOs that can be used to safely drain their health throughout a mirror dungeon run. Of course, keeping them at that state can be a juggle between keeping their health as close to that point as possible and simply hoping whatever might hit them next won't absolutely murder them. This is especially the case if the intent is to try and ignore any EGO gifts that may wind up healing above that point AND we're taking the ramping difficulty of MDH into consideration.
So, say you've calculated what that half-way point to be and you want to "top off" your overworked assassins without going over the halfway point. As mentioned here, a vast majority of healing EGOs heal upon percentage, so if you're already close to 50%, any of those can easily push them over and thus the draining of health starts anew...
ENTER, SODA HONG LU! With a hard limit of 15 HP for the two IDs with the lowest health- assuming you've been keeping everyone else fairly healthy- you won't have to struggle with even further math involving percentiles to ensure that Heath and Ish stays as close to >50% as possible. It's still an inconsistent heal, that's just the reality of the EGO, but since it's just being used to nudge their health a little, it's not an action I would think puts the rest of your sinners at risk. You wouldn't even have to run a team that HAS gloom, as long as you manage to get AN EGO Gift that can give you resources your team normally wouldn't have access to- Blue Zippo Lighter is simply the most notable example I brought up because it ALWAYS gives gloom per turn.
Though to be honest, I don't really want to call this a SERIOUS counterpoint, especially after everything pointed out in this video. It's a niche purpose for an already niche sort of team implementing a niche form of playstyle that can only be achieved in the mirror dungeon. It's an oddball EGO that's nearly vestigial in any other form of content with everything else that's available. Either way, this has been a rant worth watching. This whole thought process of mine probably wouldn't have come up if you hadn't gone over just how absolutely lacking it is.
Funny how the one sinner I hear has the most consistently good IDs somehow managed to get the worst EGO, huh?

Is it really worse than Roseate Desire Ishmael, which has a negative coin awakening and a positive coin corrosion? It applies two defensive current-turn effects, and is an EGO for Ishmael, whose ID speeds tend to be below-average and don't have access to haste (at least this was the case before Maid Ishmael). It also applies bind next turn... but only 3, half of what Snagharpoon, her ZAYIN EGO, applies.
It also competes with Capote, which is actually a really good EGO that applies teamwide wrath damage up (and wrath fragility on corrosion).

I personally just find it funny that between Hell's Chicken and the Boatworks event, the on banner event EGO for both were either niche or terrible.
Stew back on its release I could *almost* see a use case when the encounters had less health than sinners by default and were kind of squishy. The clash potential was vexing, but workable.
Soda... Had the clashing potential, sure. But the healing and targets were lackluster and the effects are everywhere and also... Just small.
The tragedy of Soda is that it was an EGO that shined in the way a lucky penny would due to the sheer absence of healing options on its release for sinner teams that didn't center around gloom, lust and Pride.
The only other option at the time was soup. But even that was unreliable given that during those levels, the burn could stagger you out and make you regret using it.
Then fae lantern Sinclair came out.
This EGO has aged about as well as Blade Lineage Sinclair and every other Meursault ID that isn't Blade Lineage Instructor. In that they're technically usable... But there are significantly better options.

I uh, knew what ego you were going to say. Not going to lie, even as someone who unironically uses the ego on some teams... Yeah, its bad. It's only redeeming quality is its passive and we literally don't have a single mode it has a noticeable impact in. I guess it could of been useful against Erlking heathcliff with how they constantly summoned adds, but the team I was using for the canto didn't have honglu ID in it.
Who knows, maybe one day they'll realize no one is using it anymore and buff it to be more in line with the other ego since it's so obviously below expectation.
