What a sad reality
The Legendary Weapons chose their wielders based on qualities that they prefer. The Sword picks someone who pursues strength, the Spear selects a loyal wielder who values friendship, and the Bow chooses an owner who doesn't tolerate injustice. But the ironic thing is, those qualities don't always manifest in _positive_ ways. 😂

When the Shield Hero is more capable in combat than the other 3 heroes with offensive weapons.
Either they're REALLY incompetent, hes REALLY good, or both
It has to do with the other 3 heroes got everything handed to them while naofumi worked hard and had to develop strategies to survive
And actually traveled with teammates that he got DURING the whole journey who actually have legit reason for fighting the Waves. It's only added with them being taught to survive and they got along properly.

I'll always have a soft spot for when two opponents are facing each other, knowing its a fight to the death, but still have mutual respect for each other. This is one of the best examples of that trope and I love it.

As rushed as this arc was, I adore this fight. Naofumi and co. face a skilled, powerful pair all while there is genuine mutual respect between all involved. It's a great dynamic that we haven't gotten in this anime up til now.

@@jackieclan815 They skipped some scenes with the other Heroes that really show their underlying faults. All together, it's a mix of some pretty bewildering (like learning Bow runs his party worse that Spear-Idiot) and hilarious moments (like finding out that Naofumi is the only Hero who can read apparently).

What everyone did in nutshell
Naofumi = alerted everyone of the wave and played the role of bait for whale to create opportunity for attack.
Filo= help naofumi and damaged boss
Soilder/ship= crew handled small weaking monster that would been a distraction.
Queen= evacuated civilian and brought an army.
Melty= helped solider
Raphtalia= actually damage it.
LARC = killed it
Theerse = did major damage to it
Other= tickled it with feathers

I think this fight in Shield Hero really shows what makes its fights so great, despite there being room for improvement when it comes to animation. Naofumi and his teammates actually WORK TOGETHER. In most other animes with teammates, they are often relocated to the sideline or get stricken down so the op mc can be op. Even though Naofumi is "op" in this series, what makes him truly op is how well he works with his fellow party members
It honestly really surprised me when I first watched the animation. When I first heard Naofumi only had a shield I was a bit skeptical on how they'd do combat, but seeing it in action was really incredible.
Frankly the reason he's op isn't because he destroys all in his way. It's just how defense heavy he is means he'll always outlast his opponents unless they are ridiculously strong like how glass was in their first fight
i didnt wached castlevania but i wached every fight scene from castlevania - there is the same level of badass complementary cooperation from both heroes AND even comon monsters

These fights are so satisfying because of everything Naofumi had to do just to get here. He started at a lower position then the other three heroes (who all got one-shoted lol), and now he's able to hold his own against L'Ark, a man he likes and respects... that moment they realize they're having fun fighting each other... chills.

Anything that doesn't have OP characters in an isekai character is the best isekai. Naofumi may seem OP but those cursed shields balance it out with the depleting all SP, can only be used at close range and ranged attacks go through and one literally uses his own blood.

I like how each hero represents their actual weapon, like Spear vs Shield, Sword and Shield, and etc. In this, I like to imagine just 1 Scythe and One Shield. I then imagine the Scythe Slashing, and the shield blocking it. Afterwards, the scythe uses its curve to pull the shield away and attack. It's fun

unironically love how the anime adapts the fights from the VN (which imo, doenst convey combat well, even if I love them) Altho I guess a visual medium has its advantages normally, but this feels more then just giving the actions form, changing the pacing and how often attacks are named (because in the book every attack needs to be named when used to give the reader an idea of what is happening) so it just plays out super well
This is the most friendly battle between “foes” I’ve seen in awhile
When the dude who is trying to kill you is a better person than the three people who are supposed to help you save the world.

Y’all watching the fighting but if you look at the background someone was hitting the blunt TOO hard
This fight was CLEAN.
In any mmorpg your shield/tank is the most important parts of the group without him/her even if you can output maximum damage without someone who can take oncoming damage your group/party is done for. That's not even considering a healer that can restore the damage that gets past your shield and some good dps "damage per second " types that can widdle down the opponent's shield and a cc "crowd control" your opponents options to retaliate or defend from your attacks
