Iron Man on the other end is a highly intelligent versatile character that is useful in almost any plot situation whether it be war, business, science, politics, etc, and has a more flexible character that makes him more "human" to us as viewers and memorable. If I were to compare characters from Avengers to Shield Hero then Id say Cap is more like the Spear Hero, and Naofumi is more like Iron Man. The Spear Hero has lots of charisma and fighting power but lacks any versatility as a character because he is not very smart, or talented outside fighting. Naofumi has proved time and again that he is intelligent and useful whether it be in fighting, business, magic/science, or politics in that world so the likeness to Iron Man in my mind sticks out.
I just realize this were is the EXP at? Also i read each hero gets 2 weapons close to the 7 deadly sins. I know shield hero is Wraith,spear is Lust,sword is Pride,arrow is either Envy or Gluttony.

If only they went into the debuffs of the skill more. Not only does it basically bleed the user to near death but it reduces all stats except Defense to 30%. He doesn't start to feel fine till near the end of the Island arc. And that is all on Wrath Shield Tier 2. I can't wait to see it further evolve. :o

They made it much fancier in the anime. Not talking about the cathedral stuff and other delaying stuff that uselessly lenghtens this chapter... About this, you may have noticed how the pope's defense was strong against spells, but how Filo could often manage to break them with physical strikes. Now think about Glass : physical damage couldn't harm her, even the iron maiden. If you don't have read the manga or novel (and thus know then answer) already, can you guess what weapon you've already seen will be able to actually damage her ? ;)
You do know the amount of blood and violence that can be shown all depends on the specfic broadcast times. Dragon Ball Super aired its episodes on Sunday Mornings while Shield Hero had its episodes on Wednesday evenings. Morning television, especially on a day like Sunday is considered the, "kiddy" hour. A time for mainly children's anime. And such Dragon Ball Super had to fit the rules of of what's deemed "ok" for children. A Western equivalent would be like asking why shows like Gumball or We Bear Bears doesn't have any many "dark" themes as something like Rick and Morty or The Boondocks despite airing on the same channel.

Only part i didn't like about this episode was the end, like Naofumi just exploded into blood is currently bleeding out and the Queen shows up like "Why hello sir hero, my full name is blah blah blah, I am the queen of this land and blah blah etc." Meanwhile Naofumi is gargling his own blood in the background.
Can't speak for the light novel, but you will be pleased to know that in the manga she saved the introductions for later. Her first and most urgent command was for the medic to tend to the Shield Hero

There’s actually a pretty epic story about this in the old vanilla WoW days. Everyone believed warriors could only be used for tanking, but one player studied the heck out of the talent trees and skills, and ended up becoming one of the greatest Vanilla pvp Warriors. I forget his name, it’s been a long time, but I’m sure you can find the story somewhere on CZcams.

This anime is addictive. You get really invested in the protagonist cause they really did him dirty in the beginning. The skills of the shields were very well conceived. Almost done with season 1.
1:30 the sheer size of that blood stain! As much as they've been a pain for him, Naofumi may want to thank the RPG rules of the world since his HP and DEF stats were high enough for him to survive losing (I want to say) a gallon of blood. BTW... ...I think for the first time, Naofumi might have just caused Raph and the other girls to have some s fresh nightmare fuel.
You know, if Fitoria had been a bit more specific in warning Naofumi about the price for using the Shield of Wrath, he might have taken her more seriously. Telling him "It will make your blood explode out like a water balloon" has a bit more impact than letting him think "oh, it just makes me angry and burns stuff around me" One is dangerous, but manageable. The other carries the risk of KILLING HIM!

The blood sacrifice scene took an unexpected turn. As awesome as it was gory, I thought that the cost would be shown after the skill use. Oh well. ON TO THE PUNISHMENT OF THE SHITBAGS!!!!

I really love this scene and the chant before the spell! Throwing the pope's vile words right back at him! And then he died in a perfectly brutal way, i love it.
According to what I read and watched in a video, Naofumi puts a curse on himself trading his life points and 33% of his stats to be able to use Blood Sacrifice. I think the stat reduction happens before the health trade in and thus the health he loses is even greater.
If you are not up to date with the manga why read comments in the first place? we are all waiting for that promised scene where the king finally gets what he deserves so expect a lot of comments about that be thankful that you don't know how it will happen.
I love it when the Pope's weapon breaks, then he realizes that he's going to die. His blood splashes everywhere and his face before it gets clamped by the teeth is my most favorite face in all of the anime I watched. The way he screams isn't that great, but it's so satisfying to see that fucking bastard die. I wish we could see his some of his flesh flow out of the dragon. This is the best scene in my opinion so far. I also want the Pope's face as he gets squished as my wallpaper. I wish that scene is repeated for 10 hours.

Did anyone realise this, when Naofumi are chanting for Blood Sacrifice, there's a Blood Sacrifice casting meter, it fill slowly as Naofumi chant at 0:49 It's a cool attention to detail
You actually see the meter quite often. During the duel in episode 4 they show Montoyasu's lighting spear charging up and showed it slowly refilling after using his chaos spear representing a cool down period
Man Naofumi has so much blood, at least 2 gallons bursted out of him, and that puddle in the end was an entire pool. I think that's what it must feel like being a tank with 100k HP in an MMO while the DPS have half that.
Shield hero really needs to level up his other abilities or something. If he keeps trying to rely on those cursed/evil abilities their either going to kill him or he's going to go badshit crazy.

So grinding is pointless. That said the curse series is also his best defensive/tankiest shield as well his only offensive presence It is by far his strongest and best shield in every single aspect and in a situation where his party members can't class up and he's severely underleveled He NEEDS to utilize his Curse Shield just to survive and protect his party Cause the gap between him and his enemies is just so wide he needs the overpowered Shield to survive. (Like vs Glass or the Pope. Without the rage shield it'll be dire)

To add his own blood to summon the beast was well earned. Adding the chain and bringing the bastard up in the air spouting nonsense before he met his demise was well done. The Blood splatter to the Rain of Blood was also a nice touch. Good twist from the manga I'll say.
Damn, no matter how many times I've watched the blood just pour out of Naofumi, it still looks and feels painful! Not exactly like the manga, but still a fitting end to the arc, right? But sadly, best raccoon girl, KFC and Mel are devastated over him losing as much blood as he did.
Also, I'm very happy with how well this scene was animated. A pity that the Pope's hand wasn't shown but at least we did get to see his face getting skewered

This anime is addictive. You get really invested in the protagonist cause they really did him dirty in the beginning. The skills of the shields were very well conceived. Almost done with season 1.

You know, if Fitoria had been a bit more specific in warning Naofumi about the price for using the Shield of Wrath, he might have taken her more seriously. Telling him "It will make your blood explode out like a water balloon" has a bit more impact than letting him think "oh, it just makes me angry and burns stuff around me"

According to what I read and watched in a video, Naofumi puts a curse on himself trading his life points and 33% of his stats to be able to use Blood Sacrifice.
I think the stat reduction happens before the health trade in and thus the health he loses is even greater.

I love it when the Pope's weapon breaks, then he realizes that he's going to die. His blood splashes everywhere and his face before it gets clamped by the teeth is my most favorite face in all of the anime I watched. The way he screams isn't that great, but it's so satisfying to see that fucking bastard die. I wish we could see his some of his flesh flow out of the dragon. This is the best scene in my opinion so far. I also want the Pope's face as he gets squished as my wallpaper. I wish that scene is repeated for 10 hours.

It's a cool attention to detail
You actually see the meter quite often. During the duel in episode 4 they show Montoyasu's lighting spear charging up and showed it slowly refilling after using his chaos spear representing a cool down period

Shield hero really needs to level up his other abilities or something. If he keeps trying to rely on those cursed/evil abilities their either going to kill him or he's going to go badshit crazy.

@@parkermaisterra8532 they can't grind since they hit their level cap and can't class up since they're forbidden from doing that within the country and can't leave the country as well so they're hindered. So grinding is pointless.
That said the curse series is also his best defensive/tankiest shield as well his only offensive presence
It is by far his strongest and best shield in every single aspect and in a situation where his party members can't class up and he's severely underleveled
He NEEDS to utilize his Curse Shield just to survive and protect his party
Cause the gap between him and his enemies is just so wide he needs the overpowered Shield to survive.
(Like vs Glass or the Pope. Without the rage shield it'll be dire)

To add his own blood to summon the beast was well earned. Adding the chain and bringing the bastard up in the air spouting nonsense before he met his demise was well done. The Blood splatter to the Rain of Blood was also a nice touch. Good twist from the manga I'll say.
