- The plaintiff brings his aunt to court. He claims his aunt ran over his motorcycle with her truck and she offered to pay for the repairs. He says his aunt now refuses to pay, so he’s suing for the cost of repairs. The defendant argues the plaintiff parked his motorcycle right behind her truck and didn’t leave space for her to back up. She says he’s exaggerating the extent of the damage and doesn’t want to pay.

She's one of those people who, instead of handling an accident, brings up "all the things I've done for you in the past..." as if you're supposed to say "dang, you're right, nevermind." My family is 100% like this. So frustrating.
Right?! People like that must literally keep a journal of everything they do for people in the event that something like this happens. Ridiculous.

The aunt walked out of court still dissatisfied that the Judge found her guilty. She had no remorse for her selfish behavior.

I can't even imagine what is going through the aunt's mind. She knows her nephew is a good person and it wouldn't be unreasonable to believe he's totally being honest, so with that being said why wouldn't they both agree, not just him, to bring this in front of a judge and have them rule on what's fair. Seems like the aunt is a little greedy with money and didn't want to do the right thing unless she lost in ciurt. Hopefully they get back to spending time together and can make up for the last two years.
I think she thought it was all his fault & then made excuses not to pay.

Very true. If possible, I reverse into parking spaces, or otherwise park so that when I'm setting off, I'm going forward. Much safer all round and a great habit to be in.
And if you can’t see behind you but saw something prior to entering your car… don’t back up toward it you know it was there. She would totally just run right over little Timmy playing behind her truck what a clown
@@elvickRULES they've started teaching in Driver's Ed to walk all the way around the car in case little Timmy is lying under your back wheels. I've always wondered where little Timmy's mom/ guardian is, to be letting him lie behind car tires. All the best to you!

She didn't want her insurance to go up. In other words, she was being cheap and trying to get over (like she accused him of doing).
Apparently you don't know how insurance works. You pay a deductible, they cover it then your rates go up....it's simply a loan from your insurer.

My comment was in response to your comment that she should have filed an insurance claim which is a bad idea on smaller losses such as this since the insurance will recover their loss in the future and if you happen to have another claim in the near future can result in being cancelled. If that happens your new insurer is going to charge a high premium due to your claim history and risk. What you suggested is a bad idea, simple as that.
@@allaboutroofing2I was involved in an accident at school a few yrs ago. I backed up into a car. When I called my insurance Co the rates did not go up but 6 dollars. The point im trying ro make is I did the right thing by claiming the accident becuz I knew there was no way I could pay the lady for her car. Yes the insurance will go up but if u have been with same insurance Co for yrs they will work with just like mine did. It depends on the ins Co and how long u been with. Furthurmore idc if u don't like my comment it's my opinion and I will express myself how I want to!

So sad to me. I am so incredibly blessed to be the auntie to a beautiful young woman and cannot ever imagine a time where I would ever put her in a position like that to begin with. I would do anything for her. She's my identical twins daughter and she is loved infinitely and indescribably.

That happened to my dad, my brother and me several years ago when a cousin needed help removing old roofing and getting the roof ready for a new roof. Went over on a very hot and humid day and removed the roof, replaced damaged sheeting and installed new felt paper and ice shield and never charged a dime for materials, and labor as free for family. A week later, someone falls off the roof and tires to sue my dad’s business because the guy was a clown. Moral of the story, no more helping family.
As a former roofing contractor him and his brother saved her a couple of thousand dollars doing the work on her roof. He seemed pretty chill so I imagine the plaintiff's husband was driving the boat.
He said they called him a liar and her only response was “it wasn’t me” well aunty if you thought he was honest you would’ve paid so clearly the husband and aunt both thought of him as a liar. I hope she learned from this too many family members do people wrong and say “IM FAMILY U CANT DO THIS” And thats just wrong! DO THE RIGHT THING ESPECIALLY FOR FAMILY !!! FIX YOUR WRONG HOW HARD IS THAT.
I backed into my son's car in my own driveway. It was parked. Yeah, brain-dead moment. Been driving for 45 years and that's the first time I've hit anything.
At first I was going to just pay for the repair until I found out how expensive it was and called my insurance, but there was never any question that I was responsible for it.
And he wasn't even doing any free work like the plaintiff in this case. He was just visiting.
And the defendant's excuse that she's done things for him in the past was so wrong. I couldn't begin to list the things I've done for my son. Doesn't change the fact that I damaged his car.
My insurance company sent him a check for the full amount.
The plaintiff's aunt is just awful. What a way to treat a family member---much less one who does free work for you.
If he goes no-contact with her (and her nasty husband) I wouldn't blame him.

I think this lady is a cheapskate and likes getting stuff done for her for free. She wouldn't have paid her nephew a dime.
She should have asked him to move his motorcycle so she could back up. He was right there. She's responsible for damage. My husband accidentally back into his daughter's fiance's car when we were all leaving to go to the lake and he paid for damages to the car. Why wouldn't he? She should have did the right thing to begin with.

Clearly she's a bad driver, I can assume she didn't want to put it through her insurance because it sounds like she probably was dropped by a previous company. That alone speaks volumes. If he wanted, all he had to do was get her to admit she hit the bike and agreed to pay in texts or emails, then put a claim on her insurance. That way he would have gotten his bike fixed and the new insurance company would have dropped her as well for being a crummy driver and even crummier person!

Three minutes in and I can totally see the aunt being one of those people who will use the "I did so much for you" card for the rest of her life. She is entitled. It is an easy fixable mistake just pay him. Imagine your nephew gives you all the chances in the world to pay him and tries to get her the cheapest way out of this but she just won't take it and rather loses their good relationship than pay just because she feels right. Not sure who's narrating but when introducing the defendant, he said, "she said the defendant, her nephew". Her nephew is the PLAINTIFF, she is the DEFENDANT.
