Jules Bruchez was on the Spike TV show The Ultimate Fighter where he was awarded an contract with the UFC. Jules has also fought for the organization Bellator before retiring from MMA in 2011. Jules is currently an active Pro Jiujitsu Competitor who had fought for organizations such as Submission Pro Hunter, Fight To Win, Metamoris and many other professional companies.
Jules is also a multiple certified Strength & Conditioning Performance Coach. Jules has worked with countless MMA and Grapplers over the past 15 years for performance enhancement and injury prevention.

Hands down the most successful escape I use. I'm still pretty inexperienced, I've been a blue belt for about a year but I've been using this escape soon after I first started training. It's low risk and really doesn't take that much energy which is good for when you've been getting you butt kicked and now your flattened out...you can take a deep breath, gather your thoughts and set this up. A little push into them they often thinks you're trying to elbow escape or something and they try to flatten you back out. Use their momentum with whatever you have left. Thank you for posting this video and helping all the people out there trying to get better at BJJ.

I can’t wait to try this. I weigh lbs 162 & there is nothing but huge heavy guys at our gym. I’ve tried everything but like you described that c grip to the armpit is NOT happening. Thank you for this video & a fresh idea on escaping & possibly a sweep. 2 👍 👍

@@julesbruchez-theartofgrapp9646 I used to have that same belief. Had two hip replacement surgeries and was out for the most part almost 4 years. Things are beginning to come back but I don't have that confidence back yet to make A statement like this. For the most part I agree though

I’m glad it’s working out for you. I’m no different from anybody else. I often struggle in many positions even as a black belt. It’s very hard to stay focused on the details when there’s so many details and play as long as you never quit and never give up then you can’t loseand I’m not talking about just having your hand raised. I’m talking about winning deep down inside which is much much more important. Like I said before I’ve struggled on this journey like everybody else and anything I can do to help others not fail the way I did is all I’m trying to do.

@@julesbruchez-theartofgrapp9646 I'll work it with a non resistant partner for awhile first and try it on new people. That's always been my formula before I hit something on legit people. Try techniques with new people first.

Each time I try this, my partner would base out with his outside arm to prevent me from completing the bridge. Any suggestions to prevent his arm from escaping from under me to base out?
Be more specific on where he is placing his bridge hand. Remember there is no perfect move. But every-time he moved to re base out he leaving you a window 😉
Sounds like the perfect opening for an underhook
Take his arm with your legs and go for an americana with the legs if arm gets out go for bottom side control triangle if legs too short just go for a triangle hold and attack the arm thats left on your shoulder with a kimura or sum and if that dont work you could have probably reguarded on any of those steps 😅
This is a great 1st option when they give you a heavy cross face. Once they base out with their right hand (outside hand), they are giving the opening for the underhook escape to turtle or dog fight (as Matt Freedman has said) or back door escape. Gordon Ryan showed an escape w/ a similar direction to this, except using the V or C grips of both hands on the armpits but I never could do it against bigger/stronger opponents.
Are you concerned about them basing out on the initial bridge? Or are you relying on them trying to go right after you to return pressure?

Yes I am always looking to use the momentum from my opponent. This is essential in this escape because it’s for a heavy pressure side control
