I paid 390 US. It's a practice guitar for sure. Speaker is a little small a thin sounding. My acoustics are actually louder imo. Lot of cool Lil features. If it could hook up to blue tooth speaker that would be a bonus. My 2 cents

Also, with my acoustic amp finally having given up the ghost a couple of weeks ago, I just acquired a Positive Grid Spark Mini. Wow. This thing is amazing and a wonderful companion for my Nova Go SP1 and soon to be Nova Go Sonic. If you haven't alreadiy, check it out.

I'm planning on seeing if I can transplant my Spark Go into my Go Sonic

I would but one if there was a way to bypass the active section of the electronics if the board failed.

If you turn off the onboard sounds, it acts as a normal electric guitar when plugged into an amp.

It's a light version of CFRP = Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic, so it is a molded plastic shell. The good news is the fatigue characteristics and stability are great in this kind of plastic, the guitar will be stable and long lasting, the carbon polymers form chains through the plastic giving it CF's strength characteristics. The bad news is it feels like plastic, because it is.

Update: I’ve now used the Enya for a few rehearsals and a gig. So far so good. In fact, it’s better than my CAD$1000 Godin. I just plug it into my amp without any of the onboard sounds.

Thank you for an excellent review. I've got one coming Friday! Already have the Enya Nova Go SP1. Have you tried putting it through Garage Band?

      Thanks!
I tried plugging it in to my iPad Pro directly (USB C to USB C), hoping that garageband would find it. Nothing.
I think we still need an audio interface via the 1/4 audio output.
      Too bad.
If anyone finds a solution, let us know!

Thank you for the video! I understand enya uses coated strings. I assume fret life will be longer this way. Do you antisipate issues with refretting a carbon fiber fretboard? Thank you.

I can’t imagine refretting a guitar of this price. I just don’t think it would be worth it . . . unless you (unlike me) can do it yourself.

Would it be loud enough by itself with acoustics unplugged?

    • @GrahamToppHongKong
      @GrahamToppHongKong Před měsícem +1

Yes. I played on the internal speaker with a plugged in bass, drums, a plugged in guitar, and vocals on a PA. Volumes were all kept down (we were in a small studio) but you could absolutely hear it.

Got one a couple weeks back, seemed like a perfect couch guitar. After playing it a few days I suddenly realized - I'd gig this thing with no issues (using the 1/4" of course). Feels great - the neck/body joint is downright sexy - holds tune, intonates well - no downside. For comparison I own Steinbergers, Parkers, Godins and others, I'd happily throw this into gig rotation.

I feel the same way. Got a gig coming up in a few days . . . gonna give it a try and see what happens. Let me know how it goes for you.

Bought one (Black) a couple months ago. Looks great, plays well, very light, and interesting tech is built in. Alas, many of its features are only available through the app, and you must have a smart phone to access the app. Since I don't use a smart phone, much of the "value" of the guitar was unavailable to me, and thus much less of a value for the money. I returned mine specifically because of that issue. Return has been accepted, but I'm still waiting for my refund.

Great review ! Mine is on the way. I have that 'need more guitars than I already have' disorder so naturally I had to get this. All in all though I am justifying this by having a guitar to go anywhere with without having to drag along an amp, pedals and cables so ............. Yaaay !

As I understand it... It's carbon fiber, but it's just not the woven matting. There's different types.
