    Nicely done. You’ve owned so many cool P cars. Appreciate your insights as an experienced P owner. Given your ownership, do you prefer GT3 over mid engine cars? Congrats!
    I own a 718 BGTS 25th. I’ve been in a 981 Spyder stock and one with Soul headers and exhaust. I also rented a 2014 981 Boxster S with PSE. All the 981s sound better OEM and beyond. The 718s ride better.

      I love the GT3 motor. The chassis is fun but challenging - on the street, it behaves mostly well, but on the track, especially on corner entry, you have to deal with a lot of oversteer when you're going fast. The mid engine Porsches are just better handling imho

    nice video! curious if you have driven 981 Boxster GTS or S w/ PSE? and how that compares with 981 Boxster Spyder in terms with sound and handling?

      I had a 2014 Boxster S PDK.
      Sound wise it was definitely quieter and less rich. More similar than different though. The 3.4l and 3.8l motors are the same 9A1 engine family and sound similar.
      I swapped to the fixed x73 on my Boxster too. The Spyder has higher spring rates and damping to match but is again, more similar than different. The Boxster S did not have the same grip and wasn't quite as tail happy as the Spyder and was a little heavier and looser. But still great.

    Interesting comparison. So what's your take between your old 718 Spyder w/ Kline and this new 981 Spyder? I've owned a 981 Boxster with the same x73 fixed suspension. That old exhaust system definitely sounds more characterful, a lot more snorts and overruns. The 718 with Kline sounded more refined but also less varied. I'm curious why you made the switch.

      Thanks! The Kline made the 718 sound better but I think the 981 still sounds better still. It's more harmonious - higher pitched and varies more with RPM.
      My old 718 was PDK and for the amount of power that the car had, wasn't engaging enough. I really like the 981 but it is slower. (I had quite a few cars in between - f12, GT3, and Supra)

      Kit do you prefer 981 spyder over the 718 spyder even if both have manual transmission?

      Good question. The 718 Spyder is faster on track, and the Cup 2s are way stickier than the tires the 981 Spyder came with. But neither car is actually fast and the 981 sounds better and is easier to toss around and slides better. For a twisty road, the 981 is really hard to beat. The 718 Spyder is faster on a race track but personally, there are other cars that are faster yet and better suited

    hi Kit nice review. im in a dilemma between 2015 cayman GTS or 2021 718 Spyder...do you think its worth double the price? looking for a weekender car , B road only . Thanks Kit

    • @KitsCars
      @KitsCars  Před 4 měsíci +1

      They're two different cars at two different price points. I think the Spyder is that much better and would certainly spend the money for one
