Charlie Watts 1941-2021 R.I.P. and thank you for sharing your talents with us all. 1963-2021 a member of The Rolling Stones. Will not be the same without you.
Haha, at first I thought "No way; OP is surely mistaken". But there he is singing along. In countless hours of footage over years I never have seen him do that. Good eye!
Charlie's grooving with Wymans Bass , I think that brought a smile,. the whole band meshing bringing Chuck's song to another level too lol that's smile worthy :)
One sunny afternoon I was tripping in the park. I cant explain how it happened, but in one ear I could hear the Stones version of this song, while in the other ear it was REO Speedwagon's version- at the SAME time!! I could also hear my footsteps whooshing through the grass. Very detailed sounds. Unforgettable! 😂✌🏼🤯
I love this clip and what turned me on to it was how Charlie was so immersed, his head movements and groove really got it going. Luv Sir Charles forever.
Nobody beats Chuck at it but Keith is definitely second. Ronnie Wood is excellent at it and John Lennon, though he's not rated that highly as a guitarist, was great at it as well.
They're playing it even slower than Chuck's original "Go, Johnny, Go!" film version, which was slow. And which is correct, it's a slow song. The story goes that Chuck wrote it on the spur of the moment as a B-side filler for the film.
hi all I was away for a while but I'm back listening to the band this is better than drugs tis is sooooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooood coming to DUBLIN I June 'cant believe it.... the greatest rock and roll band
Kids back then in Jersey and NYC would go out dancing. Here comes a song performed by British rock band about the art of getting a dance partner. Jagger and the crew overlay their own creative style to it with that slow, heart pounding beat. And that voice! The Stones bring out the story in a way no one else has. And because of this, they make it a classic.
Umm. Charlie is, no doubt, in the Blues, Jazz and Rock band of all time. Somewhere. Playing with the other masters of their instruments. Never missing a scheduled show and always dapper.
Watching Charlie makes this clip, and makes the Rolling Stones. I stopped going to the shows after Charlie died. There is no Rolling Stones without Charlie.
Generally speaking, i was never a big Chuck Berry fan. But the stones had a way of making raw, exciting, balls-out versions of his tunes. The stones are and always will be the greatest rock band of all time.
I consider myself privileged to have been alive in the era of the best music the world has ever seen i.e. The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, BB, Leadbelly, Ry et al!
I have seen the Stones live many times since Feb 1964 and Chuck Berry just the once, at his peak in May 1964. I have followed both like it is forever and never get tired of their music. To me, here, live at MSG in 1969, the Stones captured the very essence of who they are, a rocking band that can actually do Berry better than Berry when they put their mind to it. Queenie is my favourite recording on the Yas Yas album and I can never get enough of it. Bravo, Stones!
I totally agree I was at that concert at Madison Square Garden November 1969. Yes in my opinion The Rolling Stones are disciples of Chuck Berry How can the music not be called rock and roll? R.A.Sanchez

One of them best STOMPIN songs - thanks to Charlie's celestial drummin... lovely to see how he acted, sooo beautiful. his concentration + dedication. Sublime !!
Love this performance so much and can’t stop listening-moving-grooving; it’s darn near impossible not to dance with that rhythm foundation Charlie and Bill are laying down. This has become one of my favorite performances of their’s, so very raw and unbridled plus all the screen time Charlie is getting, great to see him in action behind the kit, he flat out owns this!! Got a glimpse of Jagger’s side burns when he shook his head. Sideburns and long hair need a reawakening big time! Gosh I miss the look of long hair and sideburns on men I grew up with, very attractive. Keep on dancing-moving everyone, it keeps all of our parts in working order!! 😘
Kitty you're on the money - still love this raw (almost disturbing) performance and still dancing to it myself! In fact this whole 1969 Tour was something else! Rock bands still aspire to match this tour's performances.
