- Taken from the the Stones last tour of the 60's and just prior to Altamont. This performance when released in the movie included footage of a DJ voiceover as well as behind the scenes at Altamont. In this version there is edited in different footage with partial overdub audio to make a complete performance. I have since uploaded another version with the full original audio : • The Rolling Stones - S...

Mick Taylor was the X factor for the Stones. He took them to levels they had never been before or since. They were never the same after he was gone
Brilliant bass performance by Bill Wyman!!!!
The Stones are Unique ❤❤❤
Billy is the best rock bassist with mcvie
Mick Taylor was the Golden era of the stones a couple of good shots of charlie in this vid R.I.P CHARLIE WATTS
This is when the Stones were at their peak. MSG 1969. Before Altamont. No drug crazies 70's. The commercialism since 1981. They had it THEN.
The Rolling Stones 1969 tour was the greatest in the history of Rock, period!
It really was. Something about that tour ... they were at the absolute peak... every Bootleg I have heard from Stones '69 .... Oakland, Detroit ... they are all AMAZING!!
Except for the STP tour of 1972. . That was the GOAT ! 😎🎸👍🏻
‘72 tour takes the cake for me
Well I saw them july1 1966 with brian in the marina ballroom on steel pier next to the diving horse in Atlantic City for $2 and every tour since including this ‘69 show. Tough to pick a favorite. 66 definitely a contender. So for that matter
Got that right!!!
Imagine how It was BIG to see The Stones at the time...their was no internet, no clip video, no MTV, they were making very rare interviews on TV and radio and were playing at the Ed Sullivan shows a couple of time a year...but there was no VHS to tape it...The only contact people have to a band back ten was to listenning their music on vinyl and watching some pictures on the vinyl and some rock magazines. I mean, I saw maybe 40 or 50 shows in my life...In a way, with modern technology I feel lucky to have access so easily to everything on the internet (songs, complete albums, live performance, clips, demos, interviews, alternate take etc.) but honestly being in the front row of a Stones concert in the 60's or 70's THAT WAS THE REAL SHIT !
I prefer the way it was before. You looked forward to the next album nd youd get all new pictures. Only way to get anything else would be in mags, but werent many mags in '66. At least I never saw them. Sometimes you could read a biography in paperback. I read one on the Stones. I savored every line. Now theres too much saturation and theres no thrill in getting the new album.
Yes, that added so much to the magic and excitement, which is something that can hardly or not be explained to people who grew up with the accessibility of the WWW.
I lived it, I don't need to imagine it. Vinyl was the medium back then. But we called them records not vinyl. But vinyl is shit anyway.
@@giantrod788 Vinyles was not a compress numerique sound who reduce frequencies so now we have a reduced listening, too bad.
I was RIDICULOUSLY lucky to have front-row center for at least 8 Stones concerts. My oldest sister worked in publicity, and scored FREE tickets for this little sis. Words can't describe those experiences!!!!
Never, ever as good again. The peak: 1964-1969. All downhill since.
One of Watts and Wyman's best - great rythm. Wyman was a genius at seamlessly patching the segments of a song together. As a bass player I greatly appreciate his work.
He has a way of filling space with the bass, sort of like Robin Trower does with a six string. Some might find the sound diffuse, but it really suits t he Stones sound. I miss him on their later recordings.
Dreadful bass player
@@gregorygibbs9551 We agree.
@@dontgoout1434 Idiot
He's firing rounds Street Fighting awesome
The great times, with Mick Taylor of course!
Charlie Watts, the coolest musician in the coolest band of all time.
And for some reason he almost doesn't see himself as a band member. He's always all, yeah, I accompany the Rolling Stones on the drums. And I'm always all, yeah, no, actually, you're as much a member of the Stones as Mick Jagger is.
Its hard to whip a street fighting man
U speak with out fail. Whoever dont get it, back to the jetsons and flintstones wit cha!!
Yes the supzrcdrummer
Yeah, he's so great, I couldn't imagine the Rolling Stones without him
History will someday look back on what an amazing lyricist Mick Jagger was.
Happy to see that there is, for the less, one person who noticed that. Maybe he should have the Nobel instead of Dylan. I'm joking, I don't care about the officials prices.
I agree, very well written songs by the Stones.
The Ex park Racetrack!!! Such good memories. Hi Helen, hope to see ypu again Helen Brottvick, good trainer!! Back in the day.
Was in the winners circle with her and Lola Ciminelli, if anyone still remebers.
Summer Sauce won the race!
The days when Delta Collleen ,Chris Loseth and Sam Krasner ruled the track!!!
I saw them in Philadelphia on both this and the 1972 tour. 69 seemed more exciting but '72 had Mick Taylor on fire.
Are we ever going to have these rock concerts ever again?!? COVID SUCKS
The great thing about the Stones is that they’re not perfect … they don’t sound perfect … but I think this is what make them the best band on earth.
Thats what makes them cool - just look at when they played Hyde park in 69..
Their imperfectness is what makes them perfect!
Perfection is boring and overrated anyways!
Mick always said the Beatles were the studio band, writing great music. So the stones set out to be a great live band. While Mick always wanted to deliver a great show for the fans, be recognized a live performance wouldn’t necessarily sound like a studio recording, which was fine. To their credit, the Stones still sound great, after all these decades.
Sloppy but spirited
Bill and Charlie.
Brilliant.
Never quite the same when Bill left,
the best concert album of all time!
Maybe one day there will be an album from the 1972 North American tour
One of my favourite Stones songs of all time.
It can be said: Mick Jagger absolutely OWNs that stage! Phenomenally talented performance 🎭 artist. Mick has the “it” factor in spades!!!
😻
Tina Turner owned the stage. Jagger just borrowed it...
@@BlindTom61I love Tina Turner too! 💃 🎤 ♥️
I've been a fan of The Rolling Stones for nearly 50 years. As I watch this video and see the crowd, I have a hard time imagining that most of these people are in their mid-seventies now. How fortunate for them to see this band in their prime. The first time I went to see them in concert was about 1980. Wow how times have changed!
Bill Wyman really shines here
I was at this show 12 years old and snuck out of the house spent like 5.50 on the ticket greatest band in the world. I saw them in Philly a couple of months ago 50 years later and still the greatest band in the world this time like 400.00 but worth it
Hell Yeah !!!! and I thought that my 15 dollar ticket to see Metallica (with Cliff Burton) open for Ozzy in 85 was something .....LOL......But 5.50 for THE STONES ?!?!?!......Yep... you def have me beat......LOL....I was blessed enough to see the stones in 90-91 ? , but I wish I had been a little bit older so i could of appreciated it for what I was really seeing. I have always been a huge music freak and knew I was seeing history, but still wish I was just a tad older ...lol
I saw them twice in OC/LA in the late 70s and early 80s.. The greatest R&B / Rock and roll band ever...Played the hell out of this album.. Rock on Philly !!
The best version of Gimme Shelter I've ever heard...& I've heard them all!!
No question ! Greatest Rock N Roll Band in the world!!
Going through my playlist from 13 years ago, I came across this gem! Stones have always been one of the best bands of all time! I'm a huge fan! Thanks for sharing it! 🎶🔥
I have rolling stones records and have been listening to them for as long as I have been old enough to operate a stereo I like listening to Keith Richard's on the guitar.
I , was at this show on Thanksgiving 1969 Rosie Greer was on the side of the stage as a bodyguard for the band's great show this was the last song of the show.
79 this year still flying
I was 16 years old in 1969...we were a rockin sockem bunch of some beeaches back then and those of us who are still alive today still rock....thanks to the Rolling Stones
Nice sound, Bill's work on the bass is very clear.
Amazing. Just amazing. THE greatest rock and roll band of all-time.
One of my favorite stones songs.
Studio version's very "ringy" like the Jumpin' Jack studio. Appropriate it was a US 7".
These guys defined rock n roll.
I'm still finding great stones tunes after being a fan for nearly 40 years, the best band in the world , EVER !
Keith playing the dan Armstrong that was stolen from a gig one night. Worth a bloody fortune now that thing would be now
The guy parting his hair in the lower left at the very beginning of this video is future New York Dolls guitarist Johnny Thunders.
0:53...I deeply appreciate that little drum kick by Mr. Watts very much! 🥁🤟🏻👄
My God, this is from an album I had back when it first came out. Get your Ya Ya's out. Here it is 50 some years later and I finally just today get to see a Video of it. WOW, what a treat!!
yes as yu say, what a treat, don't know if I prefer this one to Gimme Shelter, they both give me goose bumps !
MT's tone and licks are nectar for the soul ! So satisfying !
Mick Taylor,,,, The Forgotten Stone
The gran finale of the the most legendary show by the Stones!
Johnny Thunders in the crowd at the very beginning: priceless.
Love Johnny, he had some issues as we all know, but when he was on point, noone could touch him
The thing is in a bad night they sound still great
In a great night like this performance
THEY ARE SUBLIME !
Mick Taylor years were their best
loved brian and the r&b stones but I must say mick taylor was the best replacement a band could ask for. underrated lead guitarist by everyone but musicians.
The Taylor/Richards lineup was probably the best one they ever had.
@@danielbayer278 Keith never liked being the number 2 guitarist on stage - why he fell out with Taylor and Brian Jones. I mean, Brian's guitar tended to dominate when he was in the live line up, also. There's just not as much footage to see it
Amen, I love he and Keith’s tones coming from those old Ampegs and Gibsons. 💀🔥
@@chrisjames6327 .....exactly, Mick Taylor was the superior guitarist but it's funny that Jagger and Keith knew this when he was recruited from the Bluesbreakers. I mean, it's not like they didn't know how good he was. They absolutely knew what he was capable of. It's all very strange. But in hindsight MT wasn't really cut out to be in this band. There was too much going on, he was chill, Mick and Keith weren't.
@@eightinches6094 Quite right. MT was never a Stone in spirit. He was to my mind a “Stone above Stones”.
This song is somehow shining!!! It is an epiphany!!
Goddamn how great is this version. My fave lyric; "my name is called disturbance" pure genius.
To often fans forget how great lirycist is Jagger.
@@Methilde I always say that, he's an incredible lyricist. it's not spoken about much which is a shame. But the true fans know.
@@puplover7991 Not so many of them unfortunately, but the important is that he wrote it.
They are really on fire here. This is incredible.
"Say my name is called disturbance"
Real - Rock Stars , Musicians , Songwriters , Showmen . Greatness that has stood the test time !
A classic gritty rock n roll band. They are a thrill to see live!
That bass sound of Bill's is the right Gold Standard.
👑👑👑
Mick Taylor - man what a sound!
Matthew Woolston No. Keith.
@@clfetter Actualy yes. MickTaylor is playing lead.
A very underrated guitarist. No wonder the Stones chose him.
I love concerts carried by great music and little or no light show. Thumbs up to the Stones.
Now that's fucking rock and roll at it's absolute best! Wish I could've seen them in during the Mick Taylor era.
yes, my cousins saw them during that time. I had to wait until the Wood one which I left feeling rather deflated and not too impressed. And that was in the 80s
Driving chordal ROCK , & Keith Richards was Mister chordal in R.S. song writing...(I Can't Get no ------) .....& Mick Taylor was maestro for slide sound & pure magic...!!
& "Believe ME folks" ..... - sincerely , D-j Trump (swindler & Crime Family Syndicate Boss man) .....
I did twice - effing awesome. But I also saw them in1965 with Brian Jones and they great then too. When you've got it you've got it.
I was. And it was great. But at first we Stones fans were bummed when we got the news in June 1969 that Brian Jones was kicked out of the band, and that a new young guitarist named Mick (another "Mick"?!) Jones would die the next month. Taylor was taking Jones' place. No. We didn't like this development. Until we heard how much greater the Stone's next three records would be, largely as the result of Taylor's majestic playing. Now we wish Taylor was back with them.
@@kirkjohnwiggle wrong description for the DJ. Those words apply to the Hillary.
69 street fight man version... the best song ever
My brother was 19 schooling in San Jose when he ventured to see the Stones in Altamont. the stories.... the lines of cars, the walking to get there. He never saw the violence until day after. He stood close to Bill Wyman's bass amps . Helicopter, yes, Hells Angels yes, but it was his favorite experience for a young rock n roller. He is still a rock n roller, now 70. Air Force vet, retired, rancher.
Mick Jagger's dancing!
Natural talent.
This band mesmerizes me.
That’s all Tina Turner, check the in books.
@@petermills542 HE said he stole ALL of Tina’s moves. TINA TURNER taught him to dance. Go argue with Mick :)
Always love the disinterested look on Charlie's face
Coolest laid back drummer in the business
Concentrating on remembering boom dat boom boom dat.
That's what Mick said on "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out: "Charlie's good tonight, innit?
Peter Scheid - Aaaah, but it's "aint'e". Charlies good tonite aint'e ?
Bill too. Looks like it's just another day at work.
The man can definitely move and not shy about his talents. Great band. Real RNR.
Richard's driving ass rhythm on his Les Paul is badass aggressive SFM!!!!
We Gotta Go !!!! 🔥
Not just another band from London town, 1969 ! The greatest Rock n Roll band at the time !
Hahaha Jagger always dancing in the same way, no matter when you can see him during more than 50 years' time!
Still the greatest rock n roll band.
Keith keeps switching guitars in the middle of the song. What a guy!
Les Paul with capo, plexiglass one without
RIP Charlie, you were the heartbeat of the stones. Thank you for the many great memories at the Garden, thank you for your love of the music, and love for all. God is waiting with drum sticks in hand. Sincerest condolences to family.🙏👅
"The original Rolling Stones were so incredible thanks in large part to Brian Jones. After all, it was his band originally. He was a fantastically creative person. One of the last times I met him was during the sessions for the Beggars Banquet album; we sat in a circle on the studio floor. To my right was Keith Richards with an acoustic guitar, to my left was Charlie Watts with his antique miniature drum kit. Brian sat opposite me. We played big Moroccan drums with him while recording the basic track Street Fighting Man. This is one of the best memories I have in my life."--Dave Mason, British and American vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, musical producer.
Phenomenal guitar tone!
One of my Favorite's, Thanks !!
Triumphant! The greatest Rock tour, ever.
the stones can play this song today and it sounds as good as ever
But the magic bass sound is gone now.
@@5InAnotherLand5 And the magic drums
I'm a 60's baby and my thoughts on The Stones are, that their music at the time must have reverberated right through to my mothers womb, and saturated me with its DNA. My hips are fucked, my knees have disintegrated, but when I play some Rolling Stones, the ache disappears. ❤🔥🎸
seriously, my mom was at a stones show pregnant with me in 65, so my first show was before i was born. she never touched a drop so before your collective eyes roll....reverberate? you bet.
@@deadlotCamper Nothing beats a 60's Love-child.
Thank you for posting this clip Just no place for a streetfighting man.
The Rolling Stones never fail to amaze
Amazing how Keith switches from the 3 pickup Les Paul Custom to the plexi Dan Armstrong so quick.....
Rock and Roll reached its zenith with this iconic tour.
100%
Trog26 Great editing. Thanks and congratulations😉
We will miss Charlie Watts❤️
Respect you know stones music

Vibe tribe radio live's..loving you live longtime.
Best live performance of this song by far. Crisp and tight playing. Shows a band doesn't have to drag out the song to double its length to make it better.
RIP, Charlie! Always loved you, man.
This is in my top 10
Gold Stones era with Mick Taylor. Fantastic.
Rock 'n Roll decadent majesty and grandeur at it's absolute apex, a finely tuned snarling off-road machine.
enorbet2
any more adjectives? XD
The Altamont version is not to be believed.
Awesome. Listen to the stellar tone of Mick Taylor's guitar. Mixes so well with open tuning on Keith's axe (open G I believe). Just a freakin' sonic blast. This kicks butt and I got to see them. Good memories, I'll tell you that. Thanks for the post.
The end of an era with the greatest rock 'n' roll band ever. Rest in Percussion, Charlie.
Mick feeding off that kid 2:11, fucking great! Wish I were there!
thank you so much for all the happiness and joy through out the years Rolling Stones
The crowds moving in rhythm together is fun to watch!
the 72 concert was effing the best thing that happened to me!!
best period of the band
Blood, sweat, tears & mood swings maybe, but I assure you: No periods in this band!
Simo Kortelainen Ha ha. Excellent retort, sir!
Simo Kortelainen personnaly, I prefer Mick Taylor rather than Ronnie Wood…...
Olivier Calmel Yeah, too bad Mick Taylor preferred some other band rather than The Rolling Stones - can't blame him though, probably not the healthiest work environment back then. As I've only been around during the Ron Wood era, Ronnie's the real deal for me. And he's not that bad of a guitar player either.
Olivier Calmel and I prefer The Mick Taylor era over Brian Jones too
He kept it going live, no matter what, it seems. Scary stage so close. Those aren't screaming young girls anymore. RIP Sir Long Sticks, Mr. Charlie Watts. God bless.
The best version.
2020 and here we are. Summer here and time for fighting in the streets....
Inspired by the ‘68 protests in France...and America’s still ‘Street Fightin’ 🇺🇸👊🏻
Yes, it's what Jagger said.
I am still to this day completely blown away by how bad ass the Stones are
Out of all the bands that came out of the UK From the 60's , The Stones beside Brian Jones , is still all here Evan Bill, >Mick Taylor , said there is only 2 left in the WHO , 2 LEFT IN THE BEATLES , ECT. (Maybe I am wrong ?

Listening to stones truth
Every single one of them has charisma n talent pure magic
Long gone . Glad I saw them at Balt and NYC 1969
All those costumes were hand made !
Hopefully they made it to museums.
I've listened to this album thousands of times, never knew there was video.
the rolling stones and Jagger at 74 nothing like them-all the best Mick
Taylor's the best I've heard
