    I've always loved the Ford Mustang. My first car was a 3 year old '66 Mustang coupe in Arcadia Blue. That car saved my life once when I pulled out into a 4 lane street to make a left turn and someone ran the red light and almost t-boned me on my driver's door. I was stopped waiting for an opening in traffic, saw that car not slowing down, the speed limit was 45mph, By the time he was over the crosswalk I hit the accelerator and he missed me by inches. I later returned through that same intersection and saw my car had left skid marks. Thank you Ford Mustang!

    You can re-seal the headlamps, there are 2 ways, 1st way silicone around the joint between the lens and the housing, which doesn't look as good, 2nd way bake the lamp assembly around 200 degrees separate the lens from the housing, clean up the old seal, reseal it with butyl, what the OEM uses or silicone, and clamp it till it dries, then reinstall it. You can find complete instructions online and I suggest you do so before starting, I’ve never separated the lamp assemblies on that make and model vehicle but you're usually safe at 200 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes to soften the seal enough so you can separate the lens from the housing.
    I’m adding an edit because I left out a very important step, no matter which method you choose to repair your headlamps make sure you remove all moisture from inside the headlamp assembly, otherwise it will fog up again. I usually do this with paper towels and a bent coat hanger (crude, but effective) being careful not to scratch the lens. I then follow that up with a heat gun but you can use a hairdryer. With the silicone around the edge repair, this is a big pain in the butt, but if you want it to not fog up again you've got to get out as much moisture as possible.
    I've got a shortcut for clearing your headlamp lens without sanding and polishing if anybody’s interested, it takes less than five minutes to do both headlamps and it looks as good as new.

    The solid 8.8 rear differential probably was chosen by Ford for drag racing as much as cost savings. If I remember right back in that era when I was messing around with 5.0 Fox Mustangs quite a few people were pulling the IRS out of the earlier Cobras because they would wheel-hop a lot. Why put in the IRS rear if so many didn't want it? The solid 8.8 with the 5-link set up they had actually worked pretty good in most conditions besides leaving parking lots after a car show. 😏

    • @plektosgaming
      @plektosgaming Před 3 měsíci +1

      The IRS changes and ecoboost were to allow it to be sold worldwide, especially in Europe. Remember that for 20+ years there was simply NO Mustang in most of Europe. The downside is that the car became more "refined" and lost a lot of its soul, driving more like a BMW 5 series than a muscle car. On the track, the 6th gen models were basically within a coupe of tenths of a 5 series - respectable indeed, but most of us didn't buy a Mustang to be a BMW clone.

    • @plektosgaming

      The car is fine IF you keep the traction control on. Turn it off and the rear will absolutely hop out on you and unless you are experienced in handling a car getting sideways, well, you're the next online sensation. So, the pattern is: turn off traction control to spin the tires, leave cars and coffee, do a nice burnout. Hit second gear, rear end hops out on you, into the ditch. THEN blame the car's design rather than your idiot self.

    • @plektosgaming
      @plektosgaming Před 3 měsíci +1

      I find the plastics to be fine and simple. What I loathe is fake manufactured leather and carbon fiber as if it's luxury. And Alcantara on everything. Plus a zillion switches, LEDs, and giant iPads, when all you want is a few gauges and a lot of power. Back in the day, we had other names for these materials - Vinyl, suede, and fiberglass. Basically they have passed off manufactured synthetic materials with a little bit of tweaking and modernization as "luxury", with a huge markup for it. This generation was simple and kept the price down. Plus it's not like I rub my face on the glove box. It is there, it holds things. Who cares if it is plastic or not?

    • @Baywire
      @Baywire Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@plektosgaming Yea, I agree mostly, I just want real leather and materials, though in my 2021 Mustang I actually really like the "faux foam leather" that's on the top of the dash. You'd probably not notice what it was unless you touch it, otherwise the interior is so nice especially compared to what we normally consider "luxury" these days. My biggest thing has been that alcantara and faux suede are not luxury, they're literally the opposite of luxury. It's cheap polyester. People have still yet to realize you're paying extra for a downgrade on material. But I digress, Tyler and everyone else pointing out plastic in cheap cars and ignoring it in expensive cars always grinds my gears.

    • @plektosgaming
      @plektosgaming Před 3 měsíci

      @@Baywire The faux foam on the dash is nice. But if you want real full-grain leather liek they used to put in Mercedes and similar, you can get it - it'll cost you about $1500-$2000 to get a shop to do it for you. Which is actually less than the "premium" trim upgrade on most models.
      Also, "Nappa" and other leathers in the U.S. are basically everyone lying and fakery - at least 90% is not the real stuff. The safer bet it to get genuine Italian (full grain) leather (about $400 just for materials). It will last forever if you keep it conditioned.

    • @Baywire
      @Baywire Před 3 měsíci

      @@plektosgaming Oh yea, I might consider that in the future tbh depending on my plans. But if you take a modern Merc today, it has lower build "quality" to my Ford. As much plastic, nothing fits right, everything creaks of plastic when you touch it. And it's not that it's JUST new luxury cars. They've been like this for a long time. Only the highest trim levels of any of these companies are using real leather for anything more than the seats. High spec C6 corvettes have tons of leather and alcantara in it but no one talks about that. I just find it funny we ONLY call it out when it's an American car. But you are right, we can all just do interior jobs on our cars and make them even nicer than the high trim specs.

    • @plektosgaming
      @plektosgaming Před 3 měsíci

      @@Baywire Note that Alcantara is not real leather, either. We used to call it be another name, suede. But, yes, most of them are just trash. No wood, everything as lightweight as possible (don't tap too hard on anything), low profile tires ( sporty! ), and seats that hurt after 30 minutes. Also, the leather GM uses in the Corvette is manufactured and not full-grain, either. It's all a long way from the days of something like the Mercedes of 25 years ago.
