    The car that comes with nimhd battery is designed to charge that kind of battery pack.charging of nimhd and liIon is completely different 😮don’t put your car in a risk of fire

    Hi Jack, great job. When you put it to the test, could you drive it down a long falling grade and see if it will run in EV mode, because the NMH's definitely cause havoc as soon as they hit 42 C . hopefully there will fix the problem.

      @hybridapp7158  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, I've driven the NiMH for weeks and notice that it gets hot quite easy and performance degrade big time at around 110F, I actually have to re-shoot the EV range video several times because the NiMH dropping voltage so quickly and throw me off the script, LOL

    I'm guessing this Li cell can be used on a Gen 2 pack? Just got the red triangle from it sitting at the dealers for 2 weeks, block #2 was a volt lower than the rest... getting a new cat installed since some idiot thought I didn't need it. thanks

    Corolla (E210) with p610 transaxle (same as Prius gen 4) is produced here in Turkey for European markets. I don't know if NiMH structures are also same (but probobly same) and you can sell this upgrade for Corolla users soon. I tried with OBDLink LX to measure the battery performance but it is not competible. Is Dr. Prius competible with Corolla(E210) Europe version?

    • @hybridapp7158
      @hybridapp7158  Před 2 lety +1

      NiMH is the same for Gen4 including Corolla, OBDLink LX is a bit tricky, it doesn't really supports iOS and even with Android I found it harder to pair compare to other cheaper alternative.

    Hi jack, If the higher trim comes with Lithium anyway, is the ecu/inverter capable of being altered so it treats these lithium cells as if they wer oem lithium cells? If the charging logic is set up for NiMh then there is a lack of optimisation that might lead to premature degradation of these cells, right? How possible is it to upgrade the charge/discharge logic to help ensure longevity of your batteries?

      @u3b93 Před 3 měsíci

      Well while Jack deserves a lot of credit for bringing this solution to the market, which consists of replacing the cell chemistry NiMH with LiFePo4 or Lithium Iron Phosphate, by a drop in replacement of two Toyota modules with one Nexcell module, he does not address the fact that the car has no notion of the new cell chemistry in the battery. NiMH with respect to Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry have different charge and discharge profile in terms:
      -> Maximum peak charge and discharge currents as well as for how long
      -> Maximum sustainable charge and discharge currents without deteriorating the battery health/longevity
      The Toyota NiMH modules are 6S1P in configuration, since this drop in solution replaces two original modules with one Nexcell module which is 5S1P of LiFePo4 which kind of matches the voltage profile. Thus 12S1P NiMH cells are replaced by 5S1P LiFePo4.
      Chemistry |Min. Voltage |Nominal Voltage | Max. Voltage
      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      NiMH 0.8 1.2 1.5
      LiFePo4 2.5 3.2 3.65
      In terms of modules the voltage are:
      Chemistry |Min. Voltage |Nominal Voltage | Max. Voltage
      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      NiMH 9.6 14.4 18.0
      LiFePo4 12.5 16.0 18.25
      This is why I agree/rejoin your questions/comment.

    at 8:40 looks danger when he touched battery with bare hands and belly as left and right side still may have each 100V DC even thought he took nuts out, but cooper plates still could conduct electricity. We want to watch more of your videos. Please use rubber gloves or just remove that orange bar first, before touching battery with both hands.
