Watch a full tutorial as a 2018 Toyota Tundra will have a 5 Channel Amplifier and two 10" Subwoofers Installed. We will be using the stock CD/Radio Stereo of which will be removed to allow access to speaker outputs in order to our wiring providing signal to the amplifier without use of an aftermarket radio.
NOTE: Our Tundra was not equipped with the factory JBL sound system, however, there was a small door speaker amplifier under the passenger front seat (which we did not retain).
This video applies to Toyota Tundra models for years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. This video also includes dash trim removal, complete amplifier wiring instructions, complete installation, and testing.

this is a very descriptive video.. great job my guy
Another great video... thanks
You do great work
What color are the wires behind the radio that I need to tap into, to link to my line out converter which is linked to my amplifier. I see the violet, yellow, green and purple wires that link to my rear 6.5" speakers in the rear, but I'm not getting a signal.
The recurve isn’t just for Toyota’s is it? I’m looking at the dq61 from audio control and this price for the recurve looks a lot better lol
I have a jbl tundra system I’m running all new wires to speaker and at03 harness and maestro dsr1 do I run new wires to amp and dsr1 wires to harness or don’t need to connect dsr1 speaker wires and t03 wires
What did you do with the factory amp ? I couldn't get it
2020 tundra Crewmax non jbl, I plan on running two amps. One mono amp for the subs and a four channel for the mids and highs. I’m gonna keep the stock radio. Don’t need a processor? What else would I need to make this system work?
Where did u get the Piggyback wire
Where can I get a wire harness you used to get the speaker connections I need?? I’m helping a friend with his 2018 tundra and want to make sure I do it correctly for him.
Also,
When splicing into the factory Jbl amp, do I connect up before the amp or after the amplifier....
It was a harness made by Taco Tunes, called a T-Harness. It depends on your configuration. Generally, it is better to tap into the signal going to the amp than from it which doesn't necessarily require a line out converter since the singal is already a low-level signal. If you tap into the amp from the JBL outputs, you will need a line out converter.
Essentially
Any video for a 05 Toyota Camry, need to find a hole in the firewall for a 0 gauge power wire. Any help would be appreciated
Send me a message on our Facebook page and i can send you a picture of the firewall access.
What rims are these?
What do I do with the factory speaker wire after running the new speaker wire to the new door speakers
Just tape them off, they wont be used.
So to install this basically do a frame off LOL. I was just wishing you would have said, ok next we are going to remove the engine block to run a positive wire for power. I've done a full set up, interior ect but personally it just seems a bit overkill. Just for a sub and amp install.
See link in the description for an updated version of this video.
Will that 5 channel amp support the thickness of zero gage ground and power cable?
No, you will need 0 gauge to 4 gauge reducers.
I’ve got a 5 channel 600W Kenwood amp running a full system with 2 10” Kenwood subs( crap ). I’m wanting to run two better quality subs. What subs would you recommend or should I run a separate amp to run better quality subs?
Ronald Myers separate amp for the subs with a capacitor.
What do you do with the non-JBL factory amp? Does it have to stay in place? Thanks.
Nothing, just leave it there if we revert to stock. We essentially just bypassed it with the T harness.
Great video Provo. Question. Can I not tap into the wires that’s going into the “non jbl” factory amp?
You sure can, but remember if you tap into the amp input, its a low level, and the amp output will be a high level output, so it just depends how you decide to wire it. The kit we used pulled the signal from the low level side for our crossover EQ.
Provo Beast Audio Installation sounds good! How many inches of space is there from the front of the box to the back of the seat? Do u think a 1/4 or 3/4 spacer will fit or will that hit the seat?
Not sure, can't remember, it was for a guy last year. Sorry!
Provo Beast Audio Installation so the subs I got are a bit small for the hole cutout on sub box. I’m only able to get the top 4 screws in on each sub. What do you recommend to getting the subs to fit? Thanks.
create spacers or speaker ring adapter plates to mount the sub too, then mount those plates to the box.
going to buy a RF-P1000x5 recommended fuse: 150a should I get a 1/0 off wire to battery to back or a 4_gauge off wire will be great??
As long as it is a true 4 gauge wire CCA, you should be fine. You can upgrade to either a 4 gauge OFC or even 1 gauge wiring, up to you. Generally, for 150 amps, be sure your battery is healthy and if you've installed a Big 3 upgrade.
Provo Beast Audio Installation OK thanks..because I just bought a 4 gauge OFC wire kit!
how did you wire to subwoofers into a 5 channel amp
I wired them each subwoofer in series, and then wired them together in parallel for a final impedance of 2 ohms. Then i connected them into the sub output on the 5 channel amp.
this may be a dumb question but on the non JBL system can you just replace the factory amp with an aftermarket one to strictly boost the stock system and speakers?
You built that subwoofer box or can I get one made already?
It was made by tacotunes for that truck. See the description for those details.
So with the cost of all the equipment for the install and the labor how much did this cost roughly?
Around $3k for this setup exactly. See the description for the link where parts were purchased.
How long did the install take? 4/5 hours? Etc
Amp specifically was about 5-6 hours.
Since you have heard the system in person, do you think it's worth the $2500 that tacotunes is asking for it?
Nope, i don't think so, i would have used other components for the install for half the price and just about the same audio quality. Sonic Electronix has a good selection on other parts and you can even use my coupon code ProvoBeast for 5% off. I'm an Alpine and Pioneer guy, i think they build good components for a much better price.
Provo Beast, now you have me thinking. I love the Taco Tunes box for two full size 10” subs. I’m a big fan of Alpine and Pioneer myself. What components would you recommend for a system that is identical, or even better than the SQ1 Taco Tunes package? This is for a Tundra Crewmax JBL. With your discount code, I really could be saving a lot!
Where did you install the bass knob?
We ended up putting it in the center console per request of the owner.
Where did you get the piggy back harness
TacoTunes website
Did you use the factory door speakers?
Nope, they were replaced. Those videos are linked in the description
Is that copper or tin amp power wire?
OFC, Tinned Copper. Helps prevent corrosion.
@@ProvoBeastAudio Thanks. That's the answer I was looking for... I didn't want any corrosion at the terminals. This video is perfect! Thank you so much!
Seems like a lot of work to keep that awful factory radio with limited features. Just go aftermarket and simplify the install.
I was able to find a plug and play connector for rca cables
guys a got a 15 sr5 anyone know where the factory amplifier is by chance?
Check under the passenger front seat.
And next the last step is taking the entire frame apart with a torch and deconstructing the 5.7l motor completely one bolt at a time.. simple process guys... LMFAO you took the entire truck apart to just for this "small project".
Ummm...no need to install crossovers. That's what the Recurve is for.
Ummm the recruve is an EQ and doesn't effectively act as a crossover.
