Watch a full tutorial as a 2016 Toyota Tundra will have a 4 Channel Amplifier Installed. We will be using the stock CD/Radio Stereo of which will be removed to allow access to speaker outputs in order to our wiring providing signal to the amplifier without use of an aftermarket radio.
NOTE: Our Tundra was not equipped with the factory JBL sound system, however, there was a small door speaker amplifier under the passenger front seat which was removed.
This video applies to Toyota Tundra models for years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. This video also includes dash trim removal, complete amplifier wiring instructions, complete installation, and testing.

    *9 Conductor Speaker Wire: amzn.to/3xK4PSk

    *ABS Plastic Mount 12x16": amzn.to/34W9TtW
Disclosure: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases
If you have JBL, you either need to manually bypass the harness or still use the Non-JBL Bypass harness above and re-pin the harness manually to match the output to each speaker. Here is a link to the forum where you can identify where each wire goes to: www.tundras.com/threads/how-t...
If you don't have JBL or the SR5 amplifier under the seat, no bypass harness is required, just a simple T harness used in the video required if retaining the factory radio.

Thanks!Your videos helped me wire my 2015 Tundra. I ran into a few minor issues, but was able to correct them easily. The smaller male connector that goes into the radio was keyed differently but I just cut out the piece that was blocking it with a razor. The other harnesses for the plug and play hookups didn’t come with the extra wires for hookups for subs so I just soldered in new leads color for color with the extra 9 conductor cable I had. I wasn’t able to find pins and not too savy on finding car parts. Otherwise I would have just pulled the pins and cut and re crimped them with the extra leads. Other than that install went well. I really appreciate the help keep up the great videos.

Hey thanks for the content you make!!! I have an aftermarket headunit. Im trying to wrap my head around the bypass you did in the video. Because i have a aftermarket headunit i would just run rca to amp then send signal to the door speakers using the already installed toyota wiring.... i think. Currently i have the amp bypassed because it did not work with the android head unit i installed. My question is why not just use the signal wires coming from the radio in the harness underneath the passanger seat to the amp's input then running the amp output to the speaker using the harness underneath the passenger seat? It does not make sense to me but im ignorant and dont know enough to understand why you need to do a bypass and make a new harness. Im just seeking to understand.

  • @ctGONZOles
    @ctGONZOles Před rokem

The AX-DSP-TY2 did appear to be ideal for this setup. I’m looking to do both the 4 channel setup with a sub amp. Does the alternative Toyota T harness linked in description do the exact same thing? The connections don’t even look the same. The smaller male end on the alternative appears to be missing two wires (orange/extra green I think) but maybe those aren’t needed to get the signal to sub LOC/amp?
Also can the center dash speaker bridge both the front L&R? Thanks!

If I have an aftermarket head unit, how do I connect the 9wire? Will I have to splice it into the factory side of the radio harness? Also, could I just splice the factory amp input wire into the high-level input to the new amp and then the factory output to the new amps output? We went with a dasiata head unit and are struggling to connect the CT amp and bypass the factory amp.

Why do you make another harness to go from the radio down to the amp if you have already bypassed the original amp wiring. Sorry I have watched this video 10 times trying to draw out a diagram of what harness goes where and I get lost. One end plugs into the radio so where is the signal coming from the radio or after the bypass loop that goes back up to behind the radio?

It would just be easier to buy an amp that can take high inputs, then you wire the radio inputs to the high inputs of the amp. Then you wire the outputs, these are wires going to the speakers, and wire them to the oupts of the amp. Saves time pulling the radio out. Also if you have a amp that dosent have high inputs then you can a LC7i but this is the more expensive route.

Depends on how much power you are pushing. Generally Toyota has copper wiring running thoughout, and they can handle up to 100w RMS over that 18 gauge copper run. So any more power than 100w, you will need to run new wiring.

Yes, the only difference is you would run RCA cables from the radio to the new amplifier. For your audio out, just use the bypass harness we used to loop in all your speakers, and use a run of the 9 conductor cable up to your main wiring harness behind the radio, disconnect your radio speaker outputs, and connect in your new speaker 9 conductor cable to the wiring harness adapter.

consumer beware, that CT amp is a POS. mine blew up after 10 days' use. i was sending 75W rms to 4ohm comps. 4ga power/ground. 4v rca signal.
CT is going to send a new product, but im not even going to use it.
    get what you pay for!!

Then this install isn’t for you. Suggest taking it to your local shop.
