  • Pattern can be purchased from Lindshandmade.com and is written for lightweight fabrics interfaced with a woven interfacing and some decovil light for the flap to be domestic machine friendly. I am using a juki 2000qi. If you choose to use a heavier weight fabric for this pattern, you will definitely need to keep it out of the seam allowance or it will be trickier to sew on a domestic machine.
    -Fabric is "Alice" by Tula Pink from the Curiouser and Curiouser collection.
    -Thread is a variegated Tex 45 bonded polyester from Geekyhardware.com
    -I'm using SF-101 and Decovil light as my interfacings
    -Spring snap starter kit referenced from amazon can be found here: amzn.to/2RwqehT
    -1/8" double sided tape for my zipper install is from Wawak.com
    -Striped aqua zipper by the yard and star pulls are from Zippervalley.com
    -"Today I will" t-shirt from Indolovekreation.com

    Great tutorial! Love both options too. So glad I purchased this pattern this morning. I still need to make my LindsSling but I might make this one first. I'm new at bag making so I appreciate the spring snap starter kit recommendation.

    In our house, we don't call those alligator clips because they have no teeth😸 we call them PELICAN clips...the shape really reminds me of their beaks (just the beak, no throat sack) enjoy!😸

    I’m pretty new to sewing things like this, and have never used interfacing before….I do have sf101 on hand. Could I use that instead of the decovil light or do you recommend specifically using decovil light for the flap? I’m super excited for this pattern!

      If that’s all you have give it a try. It’ll still work ☺️

    Would it be okay to make this bag with canvas? If so, would you use decovil lite with canvas? I just made one with quilting cotton but I have some nice canvas on hand. Thanks. Great video.

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  Před rokem +1

      Go for it. You probably don’t need to interface the canvas but I like a little oomph for the flap so I’d still personally use the decovil light on that part but totally up to you

    Hello - what kind of pressing mat or cover are you using? I kind the grey color.

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  Před 2 lety

      It’s just a little square one I got ages ago with an ivory colored fabric that has been stained horribly over the years so I just recovered it with a gray fabric for filming purposes 🥴

    Is it ok to use DST around the window boxes on Option B? I do not have glue stick on hand.

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  Před 3 měsíci

      Yep! I’ve used DST before as well. The glue stick is just better at not gumming up your needle like dst can.

    Doesn't the linds sling have a cotton version and what is the difference from that pattern?.. so you have to buy different pattern than the one we have?

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  Před 2 lety

      The Slim Sling is the original version designed to be made with self healing textiles (leather/cork/vinyl) and has raw edges. You can’t use fabric for that one because of this. SO many people wanted to make this bag with their custom quilt cottons. I kept the same overall look but had to redesign it to be made in fabric so it has all new construction techniques and pattern pieces. If you click the listing description it’ll tell you how they differ.

    Hi, where did you get your narrow Teflon zipper foot for your Juki machine?

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  Před rokem

      I’ve had it for a while. I believe I bought it in a bundle from Amazon. Otherwise Cutex sewing supplies on Etsy is another good source.

  • @dianejennings6044

    Where did you get your zipper foot? Mine is different and I don't like it.. also is the other foot you used a 1/4 inch foot?

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  Před 2 lety +3

      It’s a right narrow zipper foot with a Teflon bottom that I got from cutex sewing supplies. It’s for industrial machines but it fits my juki 2000qi. The other foot I sewed with in this video is a standard foot that came with the machine.
