I use a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil when baking pies, just in case.
Ugh, i had an oven go out on Thanksgiving once. We just ate ice cream and laughed.
You have inspired me. We are going to friends for Thanksgiving evening dinner, but I will prepare an abbreviated meal for the family at home for lunch. I love how she cooked the sweet potatoes. Yum!

I love pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie..I cook my pies on a pan just for that reason..
I'm from Nova Scotia about TG is in October. bit I to prep all veggies, cook one turkey and all the hams(1 honey mustard and one pineapple ham), night before along with the Mac and cheese +which is not a regular in my realm but I adopted last year as its a family fave. I have my tables, and dishes (upside down) placed and have the desserts baked and ready to rock. so I need to cook one more turkey and the final stages of some dishes the day of TG along the punch and appetizers. also it gives me time to have the kids (mom of 6) ready for a day of a houseful. (40+). thanksgiving get togethers are my fav!

Tip always place pies or casseroles on a cookie sheet that way if it spills over it's not in your oven
Loved this video but I have to admit I did laugh when you spilt the pies. Thanks for the great tips. I made both pies today and washed, peeled and chopped the potatoes and they are in the fridge waiting. This will save a ton of time. I hope you and your family have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Thats happened to me before, now I put anything with liquid inside on top of a baking sheet lined with parchment paper lol
i would love to have seen how you packed that all in the fridge. Its like playing tetris whenever i cook ahead of time and have to store it till the next day!

You are my TG hero! This year I'm following a lot of your tips from cleaning to cooking. Great tip for the potatoes, unfortunately I'm watching this on the big day but, will definitely do it next year.

I feel for you on the pumpkin pie spill. I made a carrot cake in a springform pan once and forgot to lock it down. I went everywhere!! Dogs were "helping clean the floor!😳
Loved seeing your Thanksgiving prep, it all looked so yummy! Those lids look very useful. I thought I was the only one that had things happen like pies spilling in the oven!
I use Brown sugar in my pumpkin pies instead of white sugar. It makes it yummy.

I always put my pies on a cookie sheet!! Because there is always a spill!! then I just have to clean the cookie sheet and not my whole oven!! haha

I bought an extra turkey, so I'm gonna be making s turkey dinner soon and those sweet potatoes looks like s fantastic side. I haven't ever done sweet potatoes. I normally steam them. How long do you put it in the oven for and do you bake it at 350? Love watching all your videos!!!

Prep has begun here too. Still gotta chop bread for the dressing, but we're on a good roll. Rolls are being made fresh tomorrow and ironically enough next up here is the pumpkin pies.

Everything looked so delicious! You did good! I must say, you are so much more mature than I am (61) if my pies would have spilled...well, let's say, it would not have been pretty! :) I planned on getting a lot done today, but my water was off till 7pm...scream...anyway, I got the pumpkin pie, corn & green chili casserole and the jello salad made. Along with the onions and celery cut up for the dressing. So..tomorrow should go pretty smooth. Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh girl, I just started watching your videos and they are so good!! Let me give you a hint, next time you cook your pumpkin pies, put the pie shells in the pie plates on cookie sheets. Pour the filling in the pie shells and slip the cookie sheets in the oven. Then if they bubble over the cookie sheets will catch the fillings..😄

we always forget to add the fried onions before baking....
l make those pies too but you cannot put it all in the shells have to put a like a cup in cutard cup or minipie pan because they are too full mmmmhhh
