Out of all the videos I've watched on youtube about anything informational. this is by far the best video I've seen.very articulated with a great amount of information! thanks for this video!
My very first Mac. I was enthralled.
Thank you very much for this video, i have a Mac Plus for 25 years, and still working, a good old days in a memory.
Great information. God bless you!
Very informative , thanks for this video.
Really useful video thank you. I have just brought one of these babes and plan to update the RAM to 4MB so your video was very useful to me. Also I didn't know about the screen adjustments.
I was hoping that some vapor would come out of the Macintosh Plus.
i'm feeling the aesthetics.
Very Informative. I have a 128 but picking up a working Plus for $30.00.
I also have a Mac Classic, 4 MB RAM and an 80 MB internal drive, but the last time I tried to fire it up, I got the "sad Mac" with an error message. No clue why. Do you know how to interpret those "sad Mac" codes? I'll send it to you next time I try to power it up.
what about the checkered screen? how do you fix that? i have classic 2 with checkered screen when switched on. i have tried to clean the memory rams 2 x (1mb x 8) .
but it still the same checkered screen . please help
great tutorial. I have a mac plus. And I have the book: Upgrading and repairing macs, but the part with the Mac Plus isn't there anymore.
Any idea what the tool used to pry the case open is called?
I got a foot-long torx driver. That helps.
I've retrieved my Mac Plus from storage and was hoping to connect it to my 1994-ish Apple External 2 GB hard drive. Found a good SCSI terminator, but now I can't find a damned SCSI cable!!! If I have to dig through my closet to find one, it will be a monumental catastrophe because I have so much junk in there I'll finally be forced to decide what old junk to throw away, and what stuff to keep!
How for the love of god did you pull out the power cord so easy? Mine is stuck in there and I cannot remove it
In a Mac Plus, are the only capacitors that need replacing on the analog board and nothing on the motherboard/logic board?
All capacitors will fail eventually, but the caps on the Mac Plus don't have some of the same issues as the later Macs. Is your Mac Plus currently working?
@@BranchusCreations
It was working perfectly fine when I put it away a year or two ago. I just recently dug it back out did not want to plug it in yet in case I need to remove the analog board (don't want to get accidentally shocked somehow). I have a Mac Classic that has visible leaking caps but I don't have the know-how to do the repair myself sadly.
this mac is way before my time (I'm 13) but I am going to buy one that is non-functioning and turn it into a makeshift mini cinema display, but you kinda scared me with the transistors on that analog board, is there any way you can make a video on how to SAFELY remove the internal components, that would be great.
By the way, great video, this is the only one that actually explained some stuff about the inside that i watched, the other ones act like people looking up old macs (to me) are dumb.
Were is the neck board?
Nice watch. What model and make? Citizen?
Yes, it's a Citizen, circa late 1980s. If I could find it I would tell you what model it was...
Just fulfilled my dream and bought one on ebay for a good price
that tool you recommended does.nothing to my SE which has clearly never been opened...
I have the same computer, but no mouse. Where can I buy one?
I seached a lot on the internet but I cant find anything.
PoisonedSound They regularly come up on eBay.
I think it would be really cool replace the CPU board with a Raspberry Pi. With a little work, I'm sure it could emulate the Mac and give a nice performance boost as well.
What's the difference between the Macintosh Plus and the Super Mac? I have one that looks exactly like that with 1 megabyte of memory but it doesn't say Macintosh Plus on the front or the back. There's no writing at all on the front. Just the little apple symbol. On the back there's a shiny rubber sticker thing that reads "Super Mac - 1 meg." I bought it in a thrift store in 1995 for $35 with an external floppy drive and horrendous dot matrix printer. The computer still boots up but unfortunately I no longer have the mouse or keyboard.
Hi. if you Jane fb you can join the low end mac group and we can help you. what you might have is a rare either prototype or a clone Mac Plus system.
muito bom legal um like
i was just agreeing with him, that i was stupid enough to do it because it didn't think the plastic was that soft :/
i have a macintosh plus too and i am 14
wow
So I don't think that matters. you are now 17 I am now 11 I bought one so I own a working one now
I'm 14 too! *wait*
I own one too and I’m 14
at 9:39 when you said that if you take a screw driver a wedge it, yeah don't be like me, don't do it. i got little notches and gouches on the top seam. now i'm trying to find a new case for it :/ Doesn't pay to go at it like a brute D; Only mine was a 1984 original with and expansion. I don't feel as bad though because it had deep scratches near the handle when i got it, so i was going to need a new case anyway. I just thought it would work because apple had what was called "case crackers"
Is Macintosh Plus easy to hold?
+Rai Hoxha yes
andrew clay tnx for the answer
+OMG the kid (Roblox lover) If you are strong enough. Now to see can I lift one but I have to wait less than a month. (Yes,I'm getting one on Christmas.)
My screen shrank so I guess I'll have to fix that
Why I should be open this?
Apple should have provided the paper clip to put in that little hole just to the right of the floppy drive., This hole was provided to eject the floppy out when it got stuck.LoL
I loved mine then oh so many years ago , as much as I love my 27" iMac, iPad and I phones today.
I wish I could find my picture that I had taken In Cincinnati during an apple side convention wit Mr Steve Waz
Apple did provide a paper clip for that purpose. It cost 29.99. It was the only part of the system Steve Jobs designed.
Yep, I'm Australian. What gave it away? ;-)
There is no problem if you dissasembly it after 20-30 minutes unplugged. Capacitors are completely discharged
I recommend not to use any tools to separate the two parts of the case. Just place it screen side down and wiggle the back case off.
And also he's right but you have to be luckey to have a SCSI on the Orgi. Mac
My power cord doesn’t pull out
Love your accent. One of my best friends lives in Perth, Australia, but he's a PURE UNIX guru Your video is great, but you keep getting the DECADES wrong. The Mac Plus was introduced in 1986, NOT 1996, and you keep referring to the '90s mistakenly. I KNOW. I WAS THERE. I have an original Mac Plus with 4MB RAM. And it was more expensive to install that extra memory then than what I could've bought a very decent, recent used car!!!
Hi Allen, I'm glad you liked the video. I'm guessing that you're from the US? The reason I say this is that Australians say the number "eighty" very differently to Americans. I assure you that I'm saying "1986" in the video (I just double-checked), but I think my accent is making it sound like "1996" to you. I was also there! I had to use my friend's Mac back then though, they were too expensive for me!
Macintosh Plus 420
roman statue
yep
Wait.... the Orig. Macintosh was in '84, not '94.
how hevy is it
It is a little hevy
He is wrong about not being able to use a AA in the battery compartment, I have a Macintosh plus and I use a AA battery in the slot and there are no issues, it has been running for long while.
Yes, I have read this since I made the video. I've never tried it, but apparently a AA will work fine.
+brrayne Oh cool. Pretty useful too, just put some paper in to keep it in place.
i am not trying to be mean but if you power up the computer with the case of doesn't that make you an idiot because you said you that i am not trying to be mean i am just trying to prove a point
What?
Bro wtf
or you could hit the on switch and wait a few seconds. XD
nice meme
Lol
@@MannoulaZ wtf
