    We’re dealing with garden pests; using the Air Arms Ultimate Sporter to tackle some destructive grey squirrels. Safety is paramount when it comes to garden pest control, and Mat Manning shows how to set up a peanut feeder against a solid backstop - and even manages to bag a few greys for the camera.
    This week we’re also showing you how to properly attach a scope to your air rifle. No matter how good your airgun and scope are, you’ll never achieve optimum accuracy unless your optics are correctly mounted, so here’s how to get it right.

      +Gareth Jones Yes, they certainly appreciate the easy food source during the colder months - then they have the advantage of there being less squirrels around when they're nesting. The result should be very beneficial. All the best, Mat.

    Hi Mat, I really enjoyed this episode and its nice to see someone addressing pests in the garden, I keep the a small roost of chickens and the odd gleanie and know how rats are attracted like a magnet, I daren't poison them for fear of one dying in the pen and the chickens eating it and the Fenn MK4 seems to have a 'do no harm' policy atm.

    • @theshootingshow
      @theshootingshow  Před 8 lety +1

      +AmigaMan Hi Simon. Glad you enjoyed it. Good luck with those rats. We keep hens in our garden, and get one or two each year. I tend to get them in the trap as soon as they turn up, but occasionally sit it out with the air rifle and night vision if one seems to be dodging the Fenn. All the best, Mat.

    Nice video. Is the spirit level way to centre the scope better? Also, is there a foolproof way to ensure scope centre?

    • @theshootingshow
      @theshootingshow  Před 8 lety

      +ralstonraz The spirit level is better in theory, but you're counting on the scope rail and turret being absolutely level - and I've had a few scopes with turret caps that are slightly off. I've always been satisfied with my results from doing it by eye. The most important thing is to start out with quality kit.
      All the best, Mat.

    • @ralstonraz
      @ralstonraz Před 8 lety

      +theshootingshow thanks Mat. I do the mounting by the eye too, but someone how i not always 100% convinced with the result. Is there any other foolproof scientific way by which this can be done? Been searching for answers but haven't been convinced with one yet.
      Currently working on a NV setup and its shaping well. Awaiting the 12v power source and the IR torch. Is there an IR laser too? Haven't found one yet which maybe reasonably priced.
