    The warmer weather has sent grey squirrels into a flurry of activity, and Mat Manning is eager to exploit the opportunity to bring this forestry pest to book. His hide and feeding station approach has already produced plenty of tree-rats, but the signs look good for a few more in front of the cameras.
    We’re also sharing some secrets on how to get the most from your Nite Site night vision add-on. Follow our top tips to bag even more during your after-dark shooting trips.

    Another good session on the squirrels there Mat, the AA .177 and MTC Mamba Pro proving once again that accuracy is its own reward!
    in regards to the RTEK I wonder if one of the Shooting Shows tech team could answer if I were to use a Class 10 SDcard would I be able to record in 16:9 rather than 4:3 and hopefully in a resolution much higher then 640 x 480?

      @theshootingshow  Před 7 lety

      Good question. Have asked NiteSite for a definitive answer and still waiting to hear back.
      Thanks. Mat

      @theshootingshow  Před 7 lety

      Hi Simon
      Here's the reply from NS.
      "The RTEK’s are supplied with a Class 10 Micro SD card. Due to the recording module we use, end users will be unable to record in a resolution higher than 640 x 480."
      All the best
      Mat

    • @amigaman9433
      @amigaman9433 Před 7 lety

      thank you for getting answer Mat, I am a bit disappointed by that and I think based on that I will get either an old NS50 or a new NON RTEK and mod it with either a Sony 720TVL or 900TVL or better yet a 5MP 1080P IP Board Camera coupled with a HMDVR Mini DVR. All this technology is largely available because of drone (micro helicopter) development but NiteSite need to up their 'stuck-in-the-'90s' ways!.

    Really great video once agian. I am using a TopNotch scope on my HW100 which appears quite a good scope. It had a clearer reticle compared to the Hawke I compared it against. A couple of questions, what gloves do you use? What do you do with the squirrels after you shoot them? I don't have any permissions yet but the after watching your farmyard video that sounds like a good place to start.

    • @theshootingshow
      @theshootingshow  Před 7 lety

      Hi Chris.
      Gloves are an old pair from Deben. Will need replacing soon, and friends have recommended McWet as a good shooting glove.
      Squirrel meat is great to eat, so that's what happens to the ones I shoot. Nicky has the tails as he and his fishing friends use them to tie fly-hooks.
      All the best. Mat

    • @chrisb5309
      @chrisb5309 Před 7 lety

      Thanks for the reply Mat! I will check out the McWet. Now just need some good squirrel permissions to try out that meat. The shooting show is one of my favourite stops and your videos taught me a lot.

    How often do you eat those things? Twice a week?

    • @theshootingshow
      @theshootingshow  Před 7 lety +1

      You don't get a lot of meat on a squirrel. You need four or five to make a reasonable meal for four people. I often keep a supply of thighs in the freezer, then take them out and grill them on the barbecue.
      All the best. Mat
