- We have a lot of funny moments in this episode. McLean chases Gene around the studio after the contestant wins $2500. We also meet a contestant with 4 kids. She said, "I know how to have fun." Very funny moment! McLean Stevenson, Loretta Swit, Stu Gilliam,Brett Somers, Richard Dawson, and Ann Elder

Viewing these episodes of Match Game in the year 2020, and thinking back to when I first watched the show as a 12-16 year old, I'm amazed that it made it past the censors! Almost every question had an adult...direction.
That was the point. Be racy without actually being racy.
It got past the censors because they didn't use inappropriate language and relied on innuendos,humor, and imagination.

I love this show though I wasn't born in the 70s but thank goodness to whoever upload these episodes of match game because the celebrities are so damn funny especially Brett Somers.

Of note, Richard Dawson still hasn't had his first successful match, despite the fact that he's the only celeb to have appeared on every single episode so far and has tried 7 times!
I must admit I prefer the joke questions in the later seasons over these more open ended questions. But this was still a fun episode!

Does Stu ever miss on opportunity to talk about race...it gets boring after a while.
He did so much less in previous episodes. It was more subtle and funny. I don't know why he started to make it the focus of his shtick. He's a good player, though, with all of the contestants. His commentary (racial or otherwise) aside, his answers are logical and he often helps them win that skrillah.
@@annika_panicka My guess would be that he was asked to juice it up by the producers. Just like today, they wanted ratings so if it was funny with a little; their game is to add allot. It rarely works. It just is serious overkill.
@@40bpaula good point about the judges telling him to amp it up. But it does get kind of boring after a while. Seems like he would have been more powerful I'd he just played the game intelligently and made funny non-race based jokes. I'm Latino btw and grew up in a mostly black neighborhood.
I find it quite tiring....never miss an opportunity to play the race card.

Stop being so nasty towards Brett Somers on every single episode. Brett made the show. The magic started when Brett was on and when Brett became a regular.
Believe it or not, Brett was one of the reasons people kept watching the show. Richard Dawson and Charles Nelson Reilly were the other two reasons.
