H/H match update for episode 1328: ... ~~~Today's action: We'll start off today with our champion's second Super-Match, as she won her second game in the final moments of yesterday's program. *Today's (first) audience match question: "Peace and________"* (My thoughts: Harmony, Love, Happiness) The celebs: Mary (Quiet), Richard (War), Charles (Happiness) The choice: Quiet The answers: Love, War, Quiet The wheel is back to Brett! And another double! Stats: Brett just played on "Monday" but didn't score a match that time. She has matched 8 of her last 16 attempts (50.0%), and 19 out of her 36 most recent attempts (52.8%). Her overall success rate is 43.7% and this is her 88th attempt. *Today's (first) H/H question: "_______Finder"* (I can relate to Brett's expression at about 4:20. I can't think of a thing. The only thing that eventually comes to mind is "stud finder" - I remember old commercials for that product, but was it as far back as 1979?.) The champion doesn't look inspired by the question. When the camera cuts back to Brett, she's writing something, but then pauses to cogitate. She releases a muted wounded rhino sound and files her card. Our sophomore champion answers "Pathfinder" and the audience likes it. They offer a 9 or 10 positive reaction. It sounds like a good answer to me, but I basically drew a blank, so anything would sound pretty good to me at this point. Brett has that open-mouthed gape that often signals an impending match. Yeah. I've seen enough Brett H/H questions now to know her "tells." She reveals a $10,000 "Path"! Warm hug ensues. Brett scores her 39th H/H match today. ~~~~~ Our champion's new competitor didn't last long. The game was over before the champion even got to hear her second-round question. *Today's (second) audience match question: "Cross-Town________"* (My thoughts: Bus, Express, Commute) The celebs: Robert (Bus), Brett (Traffic), Loretta via upper tier (Street) The choice: Traffic The answers: Traffic, Rivals, Bus Another spin of the wheel... and it's Mary. No double. Stats: This is Mary's 68th show, but her very first shot at a head-to-head question. Given that this is her final week, this may well be her only opportunity to ever score a H/H match. Based on her 68 appearances, I think she's as likely as anyone to come up with a decent answer... *Today's (second) H/H question: "A Case of_______"* (My first thought sounds like a title of a TV detective show episode: "A Case of Murder." How about "a case of mistaken identity"? I like that better. I'll say that.) The champion has a very poker face as she ponders. Mary finishes her answer and doesn't dawdle when it comes to filing it in the slot. Our now three-time champion answers "Beer." Again, the audience likes it - their reaction sounds like another solid 10 on the positivity scale. My mind thought of the other meaning of case and got stuck there, but I think beer is a decent answer. Let's see what Mary thought of... Yeah! Mary answered "Beer" too! (I'm glad to be wrong today!) Mary scores her first H/H match today, becoming the 54th MG celebrity to do so. This was her first attempt. ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she or he has "retired" from the show and their H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 matches in 4 attempts). Joyce Bulifant - 80.0% (4 matches in 5 attempts). (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 matches in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 62.5% (5 matches in 8 attempts). Charles - 50.0% (40 matches in 80 attempts). Betty - 46.9% (23 matches in 49 attempts). Fannie - 46.2% (18 matches in 39 attempts). (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 matches in 18 attempts). Brett - 44.3% (39 matches in 88 attempts). (*)Richard - 42.5% (373 matches in 878 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 matches in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1328, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. (Note: episode 849 was never produced.) These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036. These stats do, however, include results of episodes 1309 through 1317, found on channels other than this one.

Miss Mandrell only weighs 97 pounds, that’s what we weighed in the 70s 80s and 90s, and a woman’s body was proportioned correctly! We didn’t have fake butts and I still don’t, we didn’t have fake boobs and I still do not, we didn’t have fake faces, and I don’t either and I’m sure there’s many of you that do not have anything except for probably your nails like I do. I love all of you, but I just wanted you to know that that was normal weight for a woman! Love you guys!
Pattie was definitely on the show to curb the amount of money that was given away. Her answers were nonsense and not funny. I guess it was her shtick but I don’t get it.
10:18
Reaganomics was wonderful! Money was flowing people were happy! Everybody got along! And everybody loved Ronald Reagan. I remember I was in the mall, and everybody was running to the TV store, because they were telling everybody that Reagan had been shot! It’s too bad what happened to a Secret Service man but he survived.THANK YOU JESUS! AMEN!
FRISBEE
AMERICAN FLAG!!!
LANDSBURY
I agree with XM LARRY, NERDOCRUMBESIA!!!

I guess they put McLean Stevenson and Richard Dawson’s place, which he cannot touch Richard Dawson whatsoever! I’ve been watching the TV shows the old ones and RICHARD Dawson is just wonderful!
I just lost my husband, and he is a marine. And they treat you with the upmost of respect. They respect women they’re not as wild as they are now he is a real marine! And I miss him so much.

Uncle Chuck looks gorgeous 😍
When I was little and watch Phyllis Diller, used to use those feathered hats, I thought that was her real hair! It used to scare me! LOL!
He did it again in 1980

Definitely a gold star episode!
Gary is very annoying.
3:49 16:09
15:53 Stage lights are on due to a double overbid
6:01 Richard and Brett are laughing about the dimples.
3:00 Don't see that very often
9:30 11:20
2:01 2:18
That is the worst impersonation of JACK Nicholson impersonation I have ever heard! Fred is terrible. I don’t know why people think he’s talented?
No one understands what Charles is talking about, what Charles is mentioning is the old posters for the movies that were watercolored!
Is Monique the person that Edie tries to imitate?
18:59 I don't Gene said Taxidermist right. or maybe I don't I pronounce the I (EE UH) dermist?
John was great in the first Star Wars
Elaine Joyce was pretty, but oy vey what an airhead!!
Joyce again...ugh!! Can't stand her! Her voice, rarely matching, and she wasn't as funny as she thought she was!
The celebrities came up with some horrid answers in this show.
90% of the time they have the wheel land on McLean, to give him more airtime. And that’s truly a shame.
Someone said before several episodes ago, that Fred always has to introduce the person that he is trying to imitate! And that is so true because he thinks he’s good and he is not! If they weren’t a good impersonator/comedian, they need to get rich on the show
If the contestant had said, "Animal," would that match lion, tiger, and elephant?
H/H match update for episode 1327: ... ~~~Today's action: Yesterday our champion won 1-0 thanks to a miracle match with Charles (the "oval" diaper). Today she fails to score a single match with her two questions. She departs having won $600 in her one and only Super-Match. *Today's audience match question: "________of Beans"* (My thoughts: Hill, Can, Full) The celebs: Loretta (Full), Robert (Can), Brett via Charles (Pot) The choice: Can The answers: Hill, Full, Can Today the wheel chooses Robert. No double. Stats: It's Robert's first time answering a head-to-head. He's given decent answers in the regular game, so fingers crossed! *Today's H/H question: "_______Crown"* (My first thought is "Royal Crown" as in the cola. It feels like kind of a long shot, since all the advertising at the time was "Me and my RC" and I'm not sure if anyone really thought of Royal Crown. But what else is there? I'll stick with that.) Robert runs his fingers through his thick hair before starting to write. The champion looks quite serious. Robert finishes an answer, but pauses to stare at it for a moment. Ah, I see now that he has two cards, one of which he must have written when the camera had cut away from him. He finally chooses one for the slot. As Gene begins asking the new champ for her answer, I get the impression she hasn't yet decided. But she does have one. She sounds a bit tentative, however, when she says "jeweled" crown. Hmm. The audience is pretty quiet. I'd say a their response is a 1 on the positivity scale (at least they didn't boo or groan). Unfortunately for the contestant, I'm the one who matches the star today. Robert wrote "Royal." No H/H match today. ~~~Here's our standing leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she or he has "retired" from the show and their H/H stats are now complete.) I just found out today Shecky married a cousin, Marie Musso. Our family is from Carini, Sicily
Dude shoulda been a mortician…,
Gay Charles smokes on every show. I think he is rude. Notice he never claps for anyone of the contestants.
Watching in 2024
Some times you love her and Some times Brett is so annoying
Brett NEVER shuts her stinkin mouth. They put her on the lower level & the dummy didn’t know what to do - how to steal an answer. Rubber lips 👄 dawson wouldn’t ‘t let her steal one. So she cried to Gene & he got her bk up to the top. And she still NEVER shut that mouth.
H/H match update for 1326 and preview of the week ahead: ... This is week 266 of our favorite classic game show (the show ends with week 291 and episode number 1455), so our final curtain feels like it's just around the corner. These episodes were taped on September 23, 1978, and originally aired in late October of 1978. This week, Brett & Charles are in their places with bright, shiny faces, and they're joined by: ~~~Fill-in semi-regular Mary Wickes, returning for her 14th and final week on the show. Mary last appeared way back in 1246-1250, so it's been a while. I don't consider her an official sixth-seat semi-regular, although this is her fifth week in that spot. She has never played a head-to-head question (so far). ~~~Loretta Swit finally returns for her 10th week (of 11 total). Early in the show, she was a fairly regular guest panelist, but hasn't appeared since way back in 1976 (episodes 850-854), so that's quite a gap. Loretta has occupied all the "female" chairs: She was in #2 for weeks 5, 11, and 13 of the show. They slotted her into seat #6 for weeks 18, 23, and 48. All her remaining weeks, including this one and her upcoming final week (episodes 1416-1420) are in seat #4. Loretta was called on twice by contestants for the head-to-head, and she achieved one match. ~~~Richard Paul is back for his 4th week (of 5 total). He last joined the panel in 1291-1295, and his final week comes in 1411-1415. This is his second week in the #5 seat. Richard has been chosen by the wheel 4 times and has scored one H/H match so far (in episode 1280). ~~~Last but not least, Robert Walden will debut for his first of only 2 weeks on the panel (he'll be back for episodes 1371-1375). ~~~Today's action: Charles wins the "Psychic Answer of the Week" award with that out-of-left-field "oval" diaper. I was flabbergasted! I even even more flabbergasted by the answers I heard that entire round. It turns out the "oval" diaper was the only match out of four questions, so the challenger earns her first Super-Match, and the champion is defeated after his single win. His prize money? Just $100. *Today's audience match question: "________Haul"* (My thoughts: U-, Monty*, Over) *Spelling doesn't count! The celebs: Brett (U-), Charles via Brett (Long), Mary (Over) The choice: U- The answers: Over, Long, U - Not bad, the panel got them all! (And Kudos to Brett for coming up with the top two answers!) The wheel chooses Brett. And it's a double! Stats: Brett last played (and matched) in episode 1320. She's matched 8 of her last 15 attempts (53.3%), and 19 out of her 35 most recent attempts (54.3%). Her overall success rate is 44.2% and this is her 87th attempt overall. *Today's H/H question: "_______Sale"* (Fire? Yard? Garage? Going out of business? End-of-season? Big? Presidents' Day? Sounds like a lot of choices. I'll go with my first thought: Fire sale. The expression was more common in the past than it is now.) Our champion looks like she has an answer right away, but then she still looks pensive. Hmm. Brett writes out two separate answers and seems to be torn between them. She chooses one and sticks the card in the slot. The new champ is indeed ready with an answer. "For sale," she says. Sounds obvious now, but it never occurred to me. The audience reaction sounds like a 10, or a 9 at the very least. Brett's face tells me that she opted for a different answer. Let's see... She had three answers: For Sale, White Sale, and Fire Sale, and she chose the latter. No head-to-head match today. ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she or he has "retired" from the show and their H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Charles - 50.0% (40 matches in 80 attempts). Betty - 46.9% (23 matches in 49 attempts). Fannie - 46.2% (18 matches in 39 attempts). (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 matches in 18 attempts). Brett - 43.7% (38 matches in 87 attempts). (*)Richard - 42.5% (373 matches in 878 attempts).
