    I have the same saw and I have been consistently impressed with it.

  • @CanadianCitizenshipTestKit

    Thanks for the clear instructions for making a resaw fence and how to adjust for drift. I have the same bandsaw, but I've been putting off using it to resaw because I don't have a lot of confidence that it'll work the way I want it to, and I didn't want to get frustrated with it.

    I guess this saw would be my first choice too, when I get one. You answered all of my questions - thanks!

    I’ve been researching resaw fencing for this little bandsaw to mill down smaller stock. Just ordered the blade and featherboard to build one myself. Thanks for sharing Steve!

    I made your jig and it works well. I accidentally found out the perfect way to make it square. When I went to cut the bandsaw fence a little bit shorter on my table saw (after it was all glued up with the attachment) I then figured I could raise the table saw blade to the max height and then I cut the face of the bandsaw fence (using my table saw fence as a guide and an angle gauge on the table saw blade to make sure it was 90 degrees) and now the bandsaw fence is perfectly square to the base.

    The lessons here were concise and very clear. I juet out together this saw earlier today and wish I had seen this video before. Great job

    I want to thank you for this. I fight that fence a lot doing resaws for guitar making and I waste a lot of wood in the process. That featherboard is also a must have.

    Great video! You taught me how to adjust my bandsaw I don't have a Rikon like you I have a WEN, but they are similar. Thank you!

    You might have easily helped me in a final decision to buy this Rikon 10-3061 saw with this video so that you for sharing it! I have a very small basement shop and have been wanting a bandsaw for so many years I lost count. The price difference alone between the 10" and 14" is a major but while I "could" justify the larger saw, for what I plan to do with the a bandsaw, I "hope" the 5" resaw capacity will suffice (it should). The savings over the 14" could also allow me a bench sander and some other fun purchases. Thanks for sharing your honest review and how you work with it!

    Thanks for the link to those featherboards,... it seems like all my tools have oddball sized miter slots.
    I have a 10in Wen, but they are very VERY similar, Rikon just adds a few extras that the Wen lacks, like the tracking window and the tension quick release lever,.. but the Wen has an extra inch of resaw capacity over the Rikon.

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Před rokem +1

      Great info on the WEN, thanks for sharing! I've been doing a lot of resawing recently, and sometimes i think that extra inch might be really nice.

    How thin can you resaw? Is 1/16th possible?

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Před rokem +2

      Yes, I've done 1/16", the shot in the video at timestamp 2:50 is a 1/16" thickness. It's the thinnest I've tried, but you could probably go even thinner.

    I wish it would resaw 6" like wen or grizzly😢

  • @jodymontez693
    @jodymontez693 Před rokem +1

    So the Wen & grizzly 10 inch bandsaws have a 6 inch cutting length. The rikon has a shorter cutting length.

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Před rokem

      Good to know! The Rikon is only 5" resaw capacity, and I am sometimes limited by it in what I want to do, so the WEN or Grizzly may be a good alternative.

    Hi - great and fair review. I have the same saw and was wondering about the feather board you are using. Is the 5.8" miter bars sit below the table or just it protrude and makes the feather board wobble? I have the Milescraft 1407 and the miter bars are too high and I had to add some shims. Thanks for the review.

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks! The miter slot expansion cleats on the feather board that I'm using are thin enough that they sit down all the way in the miter slot, and so the feather board can sit flush against the table top and doesn't wobble.

    I have this very same saw and appreciate your video very much, it’s very helpful! What are the dimensions of your fence that you built? I am interested in making one, too.

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Před rokem +2

      Great, thank you! The height of the fence is 4", and the length of the vertical portion of the fence is 10" . The total length is 15"

    Seems there is a manufacturing flaw in the fence where the plastic cam lever won't go into the lock position. In addition the fence can shift when trying to lock in place. I've seen about a dozen youtube complaints about this. May have to actually sand down the surface of the cam. Waiting for a reply from customer service.

    Yep, the fence is kinda jankety.
