    Nice review. Rikon does have a 5/8" miter for it. Also, many of the bench-top sanders come with the same 5/8 miter slot.

    The 5/8" miter slot has not been a problem for me. I found a guy on Etsy that prints out bars that fit perfectly. Just fyi.
    Also, would you mind sharing with us the particulars of the stand you made for it? Is it stable? That would be so appreciated!

    • @JonFordWoodworks
      @JonFordWoodworks  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for kind words Steven! This saw works just as good today as it did then - I've had no issues with it. I do wish for more resaw capacity, but for its size it's great.
      The miter slot of small, and that's also a bummer. I ended up making my own rudimentary miter gauge, which works fine. It's not a deal breaker problem for me.

    Are you still liking the 3061? I bought the 306 2 years ago and had to return it because of the tracking issues. Honestly the saw was dangerous and not usable. I am back in the market again and considering the 3061 hoping that the issues have been corrected.

    • @JonFordWoodworks
      @JonFordWoodworks  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Bill, aside from occasionally wishing I had a little more resaw capacity, I have no complaints with this saw.
      Blade tracking is fine, blade changes are quick and easy, the table and fence are accurate, and it cuts everything I throw at it.
      I have heard about the issues with the previous model, but I believe they fixed them with the 3061. I personally can confidently recommend it you - for what that's worth anyway!
      Let me know if I can help further, I happy to do it.

    • @ericmann1781
      @ericmann1781 Před rokem

      I have the 306 and just had to play around with the bottom wheel on the back to get it perfect.
      Admittedly I was just dealing with it for a long while because even with youtube videos I had no clue how to adjust it and didn't use it enough to bother.
      But I eventually figured it out on my own when I finally decided to toy around with it for about 15 minutes and now I can dice wood in thin, straight slices on 1/8" plywood and even 4x6 beams no problem.

    Awesome review!!! I’m new to woodworking...just hobby level. Anyway I’m really interested in getting this saw. My work area isn’t very big so probably have to stay bench top like this saw. Anyway how would this saw be for making bandsaw boxes. I know it’s got some limitations for the sizes of boxes it can make but for the majority is it a good saw to make them?

    • @JonFordWoodworks
      @JonFordWoodworks  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Mike, thanks for checking out the video! With the exception of its re-saw capacity, I have no complaints about this saw. It's easy to adjust and work with, and has cut everything I've thrown at it (some pretty dense woods too) and not flinched.
      The re-saw max is 5 inches, but I think that's fairly standard for most benchtop bandsaws. There may be some out there with a 6 inch re-saw capacity? If 5 inches is enough for you though, it's a great saw.
      Let me know if I can help further - always glad to!

      @hartshut Před 3 lety +1

      I paid $500 for my Rigid 14” band saw. And that was 15 years ago. It is just like all the other 14” bandsaws out there. Even though it has a six inch re-saw capacity it is terrible for re-sawing. I even bought special re-saw blades. So I think if it will do a decent job with five inch stock you didn’t waste your money. I might do a “crappy 14” video some day.
