    Congrats, Rich. I followed along in Blaynes channel all week and 1320. You built an amazing machine with that GTO. Well done

    you came through my neck of the woods in Arkansas, and yea i recall the storms. Your gto up against the c10 reminded me of way back when i would try to run my dads gto in my c10 although no were near as fast. Announcing that it was still pontiac powered at the track is just icing on the cake. They say the journey is more important then the end or start and looks like you had one heck of a journey! The kind most people can only dream of. congrats on the win

    Congrats again Rich. Ya know I haven't heard anyone tell me to 'put a 350 chevy in and you'll go faster' in a few years. My neighbor asked me why I built an IAII based Pontiac instead of an LS with a turbo.. I sent him a link to your 65.

    • @Canadianchucknorris69
      @Canadianchucknorris69  Před rokem

      People assume it is LS Swapped then the see it isn’t, and I usually state “I don’t want to go slow!”

      @@Canadianchucknorris69 same here. Back in the 90s I heard the put a 350 in all the time, they also said it would be cheaper. Then I started running 11.40s in a 3750lb Firebird with a $2700 stock rod 455 and a 1900 stall, turning 3.42 gears. That was more than two seconds faster than their fastest 350s, and half a second faster than the one supercharged sbc in the area.
      I am goofing around with my 505, right now it has a gutsram on it, but I have a 6-71 ready to go on.. for science. No plans to do what you're doing, my 68 LeMans is trying to get down to 3000 with me in it.
      I have some chevy guys talking about how Pontiacs can't run any faster than high 13s.. lol.

      @@SweatyFatGuy I had a Gutsram that I was thinking of modifying for a holley lid but bailed on that project!

      @@Canadianchucknorris69 I am still trying to make mine fit. My heads are 330cfm E heads from Butler and that intake is even bigger than those are, might fit wide ports ok. Didn't get it to run the fastest number ever, honestly I got it because it looks cool and I have enough engine to use it. If I make the ports in it a bit smaller to fit my heads.
      Maybe I will put it in my 65 LeMans with a straight axle, then do RMRW with it next year. I wonder if a supercharged Pontiac powered 65 gasser would get any attention.

  • @The_Performance_Laboratory

    Love the sea urchins on your wheels from the snow/ice! Phenomenal trip, and performance, congrats on another orange helmet. One question: given the amount of clutch dust I could see on the launches, and assuming you made the whole trip on one set of discs, did you need to compensate for disc wear in the static load settings towards the end of the week? BTW, I'm available for future trunk monkey duties, as I can't afford to race my own stuff anymore.

      @Canadianchucknorris69  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Ed, it’s great question and will make me go look at the 6 logs and see if I can see degeneration of the clutch, but no I didn’t compensate, I also am wondering about cold air inlet temps and C16 liking it hotter causing some of the black smoke. FYI it is a single 11”, I wasn’t even going to check it before Miles of Mayhem!

    Hey rich glad u made it home safe and sound and congrats. I ran sick week as well and it was my 1st time in Florida and really enjoyed myself. I have a 79 malibu running the dyo pro class running 8.60s convential 400 sbc 23 degree heads. Can I ask what lifters and open spring pressure and brand/style of rockers you run on your combo? I run a bullet solid roller with Morel black mamba lifters and T & D shaft rockers I had a rocker break during the event (my fault an adjuster came loose) but other than that I have had really good luck with my setup so I was just curious what you run since you put so many Street miles on your combination and how often you swap out lifters and go through your valve train after these events

    • @Canadianchucknorris69
      @Canadianchucknorris69  Před rokem

      I am running Crower .904 solid lifters, they are actually offset because of my wideport heads, then my valve train is also Crower shaft rockers. And thank you!

    • @Canadianchucknorris69
      @Canadianchucknorris69  Před rokem

      Oh and as far as spring pressure 220 seat and 520 open, I spin it to 7200.

      @@Canadianchucknorris69 awesome setup thanks for the fast reply I run a centered lifter with a 550 offset intake rocker kind of a goofy setup but I was worried with my 842 lifters that with an offset lifter I would be sideloading an axle I have close to 700 open pressure hand shift mine 7600 so I went with the offset rocker instead of the lifter I have over 4,000 miles on mine and so far everything's working great but again congratulations and hopefully we run into you again have one of these events I am signed up for sick summer starts in Cordova Illinois which is my home track so I had to sign up couldn't pass it up
