Anybody who watches him regularly knows that 99.9% of the stories that he tells have nothing at all to do with being a Navy seal. He’s just a damn good storyteller.!
When he first started creating content it was navy seal stuff. He stopped when he received all the hate now he does the scary mysterious stories

Mr.Ballen was severally wounded serving his country and that is more than enough to earn respect. His success on YT is because he tells interesting stories, which take a lot of research to put together and put into production and he is a very good storyteller. He deserves his success.

As the daughter of a SEAL, I've always had major respect for Mr. Ballen. He's never disrespectful, grandiose, or talks about things he shouldn't be. Also, he's doing big things with charities and supporting his family! There is NOTHING wrong with that!! The "community" rejecting him needs to take a long, hard look at their own hearts.

He served with the top teir elite....he isnt just a veteran. They dont want their culture shared with men and women that didnt earn the right to know what goes on behind the scenes in a SEALS daily life is my guess...and JBA probably didnt realize they would take offense and when he did he stopped....so why are people making a big deal about it? Its none of our business really. If a SEAL says its bad juju....thats exactly what it is.
Mr. Ballen is hands down, in my humble opinion, the best storyteller on CZcams. He's magnetic and hypnotic. He doesn't take himself too seriously, but he always shows the utmost respect for the victims who's story he's telling. He's also got a foundation that helps families of victims of violent crime. So not only did he serve his country in the SEALS, he is continuing to serve the people of this country that truly need it. He does it out of the kindness of his heart. He's a great dude as far as I'm concerned. Screw the active duty guys that gave him grief for telling his story. Jealousy is ugly no matter the form it takes, or the person harboring it.

We admire him for being a SEAL, but more importantly because he has built a safe haven for people all around the world who, for numerous reasons, do better just because of what Mr Ballen does and for himself. Yea me too. Iv been a fan since 2020 when my young granddaughter turned me onto him. Iv only ever heard him say one time how they saved him when he got blown up. He talks about the strange dark and mysterious and hes mentioned he went thru a really depressing time and started therapy but he never gave anything away .sounds like jealousy to me

I've always felt that Mr. Ballen is incredibly humble about having been a SEAL. Even when he talks about something objectively amazing that he did, he always frames it in the most low-key way possible. And usually makes someone else the center of the story.

My father joined the Marines as a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD during World War 2.
He served for three years in the South Pacific before suffering coral poisoning from rolling down a beach to escape enemy fire and almost died. He was evacuated back to Honolulu where he spent NINE MONTHS fighting for his life, before being medically discharged and sent back to the U.S. His one wish was to be back with his buddies, fighting for this country. Their next assignment would have been either
Okinawa or Iwo Jima.
My father NEVER considered himself a hero. He NEVER bragged about himself. We didn't find out that he had earned medals for expert marksmanship and sharpshooting until AFTER he died.
My father ALWAYS made it clear that the REAL HEROES were the ones who never came back.

And he watches other vets channels and is always happy for their successes. Bitterness will always exist, sadly.

The only story I've heard Mr. Ballin tell about his time as a seal is when he pretty much got blown up by a grenade and his life was saved by his team members. He made them out to be the heroes, not himself. He acknowledges that he was in the SEALs because non-mil people find that kind of stuff interesting, and his job is literally telling interesting stories, but he's not aggrandizing himself by it.
Exactly I've only heard the less than five minute story about the grenade and how his squad saved him, so he wasn't talking himself up, otherwise all his other stories are about real life events which his channel is all about.

MrBallen is the reason I’m even on CZcams or IG shorts. This guy is awesome and for a fact he has a HUGE following he ain’t going anywhere
For those that haven't seen his channel, maybe 2% of his stories are actually Navy Seals related or tie back to his service. He is a great story teller about the "strange, dark and mysterious". He used to release like 5 videos a week and worked his ass off to get where he is.

Mr.Ballen has an excellent YT channel and great podcasts, he would have been a preferred Guest on the long gone Art Bell CoasttoCoasttocoast AM radio broadcast, still around but George Noory destroyed it, he dyes his hair and his beard, just cheezy!
It took me weeks of binging his content to even learn he was in the Seals. He talks about it rarely.
He is an honorable man who presents the stories on his channel in a respectful way. I’m not sure why he’s being ejected/rejected by the SEAL community, but he has my respect
...and the respect of many of us old Frogs, too...
I've been watching his stories for quite a while and never did he even once tells his audience about how the Navy SEAL train and operate. He shares stories like how beautiful yet how 'quiet and eerie' it was looking out in the open country back in Afghanistan when he was retelling the infamous OP Rock incident. Or how his training mates would reproach him for being a bit hubristic at selection at San Diego and that's about it. He shares harmless stuff that even remotely compromise SEAL's tactical effectiveness in any way. As for his combat experience he never shares it besides how he got depressed after he retired. The amount of hate he is getting from SEALs is beyond me.

If all Mr. Ballen did was tell stories in his videos and make a great living I'd still love the guy because he's so genuine and interesting. However, he runs foundations and charities to help people with the money he makes, as well as employs people to run his business. Guy is a legend

He's an absolutely amazing person and story teller. He is genuine, empathetic, and just an all around relatable person. Those giving him a hard time are pathetic.
Jealousy in the teams is craaazy. Even Goggins found out that another seal created fake accounts trying to spread false stories or discredit him. The toxicity within that community is at par with high school mean girls.
The problem with Goggins was that he sold his extreme brand as a SEAL brand and many of the community thought his service was not enough to be using.

@@chadhaire1711Ryan and Shipley are kinda hard targets for the jealous ones. Shipley was DevGru and Ryan went to the CIA after the seals. Trying to criticize their records doesn't really work. The jealous ones are going after targets like Goggins and Ballen because their seal records aren't very long or eventful so they're easier targets.
Goggins had that and Eddie Gallagher did as well. The teams seem to be full of jealous people.

MrBallen is about the most pure, well intentioned creator on TikTok and it pisses me off the way some people treat him.
We visit MrBallen channel frequently and we have NEVER saw his storytelling as ego driven on the contrary he has struck us as humble and compassionate.
John rocks entertaining others, and he deeply deserves every bit of success. If you listen carefully, an utterly positive, loving and transforming narrative exhudes from the humble core of his hard scrabble benevolent spirit.

I'm a big MrBallen fan, and I've never heard him tell any stories about being a SEAL. His actual schtick is telling horror stories that actually happened, and he's great at it. That's why he's so popular.

On his story channel he manly stick to his own content but he tells seal stories on other interviews and podcasts. Sometimes he tell seals on his channel due to fan requests.
Yeah. That was my take away. He almost never brings up his service. Of all the sealtubers, he leans on it the least.
He talked more about being a seal when he was just starting out. You know, to help get the ball moving.
So yeah, he definitely traded on the navy seal name early on. Still does a bit. As far as I'm concerned though, he *EARNED* it. He's not doing something to bring shame to the club or anything like that, so who the hell cares.

My 22 y/o son introduced me to Mr Ballen.
Because we are currently an all volunteer military, there is a significant percentage of the population who have no direct exposure to members of the military. There are too many people with no skin in the game who are careless about policy decisions that they don’t have to defend.
Someone like John, who has an exceptional gift, puts a human face to our military.

Seals are a very strange group. They are the "Jock`s" from high school. The thing is, they never stop that way of thinking and acting. Btw, becoming a Seal is not as hard as you think. If you have a strong will and you are in good shape, you will make the cut. Tell me this. How many guys who are retired Delta Operators write books or name names. Answer is not many and names are never mentioned, and no mission intel. is ever spoken of.

He hardly talks about his time in the service. He did tell how he was wounded and medically retired from the service. He talks about all kinds of other topics and strange events. He is a very good storyteller and works very hard to make his content. MrBallen Rocks!!!

I've actually watched Mr.Ballen tell self depreciative stories about how he got his but kicked in high school,and how hard it was to be a navy seal.what dishonor for his community to f this to him...He made me more aware of the military and how brave and he was to push to succeed.We need to hear his stories ..He deserves every success ,he left because his wife's face when she saw him in hospital after getting hurt.
That story he told about fighting the kid in high school was HILARIOUS 😂
Sad thing is there’s less than 9,000 living guys apart of that small community. He served honorably as a SEAL and that’s all that should matter.

I'm ex forces and I'm a fan of Mr Ballan. His personal journey from military to civilian life and the personal battles with depression once leaving the service is a very familiar one to me and most ex military personnel.

One thing no one talks about is that John is the only one in his family NOT to have won a Pulitzer prize...yet. Also, no one talks about the veteran transition program he started (Elite Meet) that has helped dozens/hundreds of SOF find meaningful jobs in the private sector. Happy to see him doing well.

Navy SEAL's and the Green Beret's as well as many others in the US military go through very tough training to join the service. It's more than just few weeks in boot camp. He deserves to do whatever he wants now that he's a civilian again. God bless him and his family.
I'm a infantry combat veteran of two tours in Iraq and I'm really proud of that. No reason Mr Ballen shouldn't be talking about his life.

I'm a former tank mechanic from Fort Irwin N.T.C. I never deployed but help train those who went to deploy. And had the honor of serving on funeral detail. I'm proud of my service.
I’m a Army Infantry combat veteran who invaded Iraq and came back for another tour and I’m proud of my conduct - not my mission.

Same but only one tour. Numbers dont mean anything. 15 months in Sadr city from 07-09 with 2 1/2 years at ft polk after that was enough.
