Oskar's puzzle description says: "64 moves for six rings" but it feels like twice as many at least.

It's listed as a 4-ary puzzle on Schwandtner's site, so I think that even though there are 4 states of each ring (north, east, south, west), only 2 of the states are needed to solve the puzzle, which is why it's 64 moves, at least according to Oskar.

I womder if you could make a whole circle with these, like have enough so that you could bend it enough to connect the first and the last piece. Moreover, could it be solved like that, and if so how many moves eould that even be?

The final shape bends just a little bit. To make a full circle you will need at least 100 pieces. I don't think you will have enough life time to solve such puzzle.
