each video is like a relaxing therapy for me, I don’t even know why it feels like that, probably because of the voice, music and what is happening on the screen
Hopefully you can get some terrain ideas too ;)
Your videos make crafting and playing with 3D and "painted" terrain so incredibly accessible. I love it!
Glad you're enjoying this stuff :)
The dark version look wicked! Amazing job as always Kriss!
Thanks (and yeah - the 'evil' one turned out quite nice in the end :) ).
I’m viewing on phone. Are there pdfs to download and print? Couldn’t find anything. Apologies if I missed it.
Just noticed small font in open. I’ll look again on PC. Thanks.
Good stuff.

@@CrookedStaffTerrain Thanks!
Brilliant little obelisk!
Thanks for the know-how to make it.
No problem.
Another excellent piece of terrain Kris
Thanks (just a quick build this time - but I kinda like the result).
Looking good. A ruined version would be nice too. Either naturally occurring, adventurer intervention or maybe something having escaped/emerged from the obelisk. THe last one could be an excuse fro some of those wavy tentacles.
I know some folks have done ruined pillars by scrunching up the texture and stuffing it in the open end. Something like that might work I suppose 🤔
That's an awesome accessory for anything, Kris. Not just Egyptian themed... anything!
Glad you liked it :) (and yeah, I think they're kinda generic and specific at the same time... if that makes sense).
Thanks for the video! Those obelisks should make a fine addition to the scatter terrain you already have on offer.
No problem (I actually included an obelisk in my #dungeon23 project - so I thought it might be a nice idea to see if I could make one :) ).
wonderful!
Thanks :)
That looks great. The stone texture can also be used to give some variety among stone scatter. Thank you!
Thanks!
Awesome. Weekend project time. Thank you very much for sharing. Still going to add some LEDs somewhere in the base. :-)
No probs.
(Oh, and feel free to post some pics if you do!)
Great video and process, it's nice and simple and the finished result looks great!
Thanks :)
Gorgeous! They look so good!
Thanks :) Glad you like 'em :)
The black, glowing one could work as Sci-fi scatter, too.
Yeah... a few necron players have expressed an interest for it in green :)
Brilliant design. Well done, you
Cheers!
I love this channel.
Short and Sweet! Nice additions Chris!! Thanks for the video.
Yeah, after the recent 'build along' series, I wanted to change things up a bit and get something out that was quick and easy :)
These are awesome!! Great idea!
:) Thanks!
Camping and travelling equipment! Tents, vagons, pots, campfires and everything in between! It would be so amazing to see this!
I might have something in mind ;)

@@CrookedStaffTerrain This looks SO AMAZING!
@@CrookedStaffTerrain Why stop there? Why not a covered wagon/caravan. 😁
@@fomasfaith Still very much in the ideas phase at the moment (not really sure where it will end up 🤷♂)
I think using the "evil" texture with a marble and blue color swap would be an awesome look, too.
Nice. Thanks for sharing your creations.
No probs :)
Both obelisks look great.
I'm wondering if you could possibly have a PDF with 'layers' for different colours, for example, the black obelisk could be changed to light, medium or dark green, and the 'writing' could change to different colours of your choice from the layers function as well.
If not, perhaps make other obelisk PDFs with different colours for the base stone and writing?
I might see if I can add a couple of variants (maybe to the 'requests' pdf) at some point in the future :)
Amazing as always! Got me in the crafting mood haha
Nice.
Love your chanel. Amazing builds. I wish I could do my own textures but I don't know where to start
Like a lot of things, it just comes down to lots and lots of practice - but hopefully I'm getting enough stuff done that I'm covering most of what folks will need (though, admittedly, there's always more to do :) ).
Out-freaking-standing! Woot! Now begins a desert campaign! Mwahahahahahahahahahaha!
😄
Very useful and satisfyingly easy to replicate.
Question /Suggestion:
Does your PDF printer allow for fillable PDFs? If so you might find people would like to have the text parts of various of your designs fillable. One could then customize texts on the obelisks etc. This would be especially useful for those who are not playing in English...
😏
For most of the stuff (like the regular version of the obelisk seen here) I just use a few different scripts and sigils that I've made - so that they can represent whatever you like.
The only problem with form fillable pdfs is the the text is just plain text - i.e. it doesn't have any texture to it.
For example, one of my puzzles looks like this as a static pdf: czcams.com/video/N8k4uzQUPns/video.html
But as a form fillable pdf it looks more like this: czcams.com/video/IbZzzlDj63s/video.html
(the latter works - it just doesn't look as nice)
I really like that you included a gold topper. Do you think you would ever do a sandstone one?
I might do something vaguely Phaeronic in the future - but no immediate plans I'm afraid.
Would this technique work for building a pyramid using card etc? Thanks, your videos are top shelf, keep up the great work!
Possibly. It would likely need some kind of internal support maybe (if it was a big pyramid) ...but it would work well as a little pyramid for the tiny terrain I think :)
A neat and simple little project. Is it an optical illusion, or is the black plinth larger?
They're both 2" square :)
Is there any chance you’d take a lot of your base textures, for the floors and such, and add some different colorations?
Like the base stone floors look great, but would also be great to have them in darker stone or like a sandstone color?
The 'modifications/requests' pdf might be of interest:

And if you don't mind doing a bit of tinkering yourself, there's also this blog article:

Hope that helps!
@@CrookedStaffTerrain it does. I have some rudimentary skills with photoshop. I’ve used it for paper minis as well as vtt maps and assets.
I’m just a little intimidated with some of the better uses of it. But im guessing using the GIMP guide, I could translate that into photoshop
@@the_hellequin Yeah, just by messing with the hue/saturation and the colour balance will give some added variety :)
These are awesome! Do you have any guide about printing? I tried to print at A4 with no scaling or fit to page and it came out different than it looks on the PDF, not fitting like it does originally. If in Letter mode (US size of A4) it seemed better but what do you use? (I am also in the UK)
I seems to work fine for me when printing on A4:
i.imgur.com/vwVCejG.jpg
But it might be that different printers have different 'borders' that it struggles to print to (or something like that) - though I do try to keep the artwork away from the page edges as best I can to allow for some of that.
@@CrookedStaffTerrain Okay no worries, I will go fight a printer and see if I can resolve, cheers
in the name of all necron players can we get a green release lol
I might see if I can get around to adding something to the 'requests' pdf at some point.
Awesome!😃
:) Thanks :)
