Awsome Dave ... a great place to train... so lucky to have this beautiful place on our doorstep... Even in rough weather 🤜🤛 👍
Absolutely 🙏🏻
Wow!!! A "training" walk Dave!! Still looks cold up there!!
You look more wrapped up than in the last video.
Thanks again.
Aye. That wind was bitter 🥶
Class
Wild one that Dave. Nice to have that on your doorstep. 👍
Thanks, man👍. Yeah, really great 😎. ATB
Enjoyed that one Dave , my type of walk Ont moors and no people!😂Cracking tower👍
😁👍
Cracking video Dave as I’m a local myself I didn’t make it up to the tower in the snow but I know what it’s like best of the time and what’s going on on up bury fold lane as well not been up there for ages it seems like and thanks for sharing the the winters day on our Darwen Moors with everyone who’s not been up there 👍
Cheers Pete. Was a great day to be out on our moors 🙏🏻. ATB
Cracking Video. ✌️✌️✌️
Send some of that snow to the Lake District. Weather doesn't know what the hell it's doing here.. The temperatures got into double digits the other day!😮
Haha. Yeah, it’s all gone here now. Sick of the rain. Fingers x for some better weather soon 🤞
Great Video Dave thx for sharing ATB Craig
Good video Dave, as usual, got to keep greasing the wheel 👌🏻👍🏻😎
Absolutely Paul 👍
Great video Dave,
Be great to see the views on a clear day
Thanks Mark 👍
Different adventure but very interesting with good advice. It’s funny that we don’t seem to build this type of landmark structure anymore but they become part of the local identity. Our’s is Stoodley Pike in the Calder Valley . I think you see this as you go along the M65? 👍👍👏
Yeah, know what you mean Dave. I love our tower. I used to go mountain biking up around Stoodley Pike. And yes, Darwen tower can be seen from the M65 and when heading south in the M6 near the Preston junction. ATB
Nice local video, and although it's only 5 miles away, I've never been up on that part of the West Pennine Moors, we're a bit further east. Great to see inside the tower, and that the restoration after the top blew off looks really good.
Cheers Simon 👍
Great video, as always! Doesn’t always have to be wild camps in the mountains, local walks are just as entertaining to watch. It is also something quite touching that this is an area you’ve been going to since you were six years old with your dad. I have similar experiences right now (age 30), and I know when I’m older, I’ll look back and treasure going to the places he’s taken me growing up.
Ah, that’s lovely Jasmine. Glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes 🙏🏻
A lovely comment. I've wild camped quite close to home (I'm a few miles further east than this video but it's the same area) plenty of open land, and I did have a night on Thievely Pike where the tent was totally snowed over by the morning. Walked home in 90 mins for a good breakfast!
Sounds good 👍
Thanks
Much appreciated Caroline 🙏🏻
Nice one dave, you will have to go back up there, take a plane, and sort that noisy door out, make it shut again lol
🤣👍
Cracking film featuring our local moors. Me and my good lady did a 7 miler today in the next valley over near Helmshore, and it was fantastic mist and fog, no one about, a perfect day. Thanks for taking the time. So jealous, I was working in a freezing warehouse in town just down from where you were 🤣🤣 Cheers and ATB Sel
Haha. Nice one guys. Glad you enjoyed it. ATB 👍
Excellent video againg! You always inspire me! And u look like u needed a coffe on this to defrost! So i sent one xxx
Cheers Caroline. Glad you enjoyed it and many thanks for the brew ☕️ 😁👍
Little Billy 🐕 watched peacefully when he recognised the accent. We used to take the walk from Belmont end . He's retired from that walk unless I carry him.
Blessings from hindley, sir. 🙏
Aww. Lots of love to Billy 🐕. Glad you guys enjoyed it. VBW 🙏🏻
I really enjoyed the video and the landscape in wintery conditions..I like what you said by so called experts. I've been photographing for almost 50 years and I am still learning every day. The door banging in the tower was very spooky lol.
Many thanks and best wishes.
Glad you enjoyed it Andy 👍. ATB
Always wondered if you lived close to me with your accent, Im from Accrington 😊 Im up there most days, I know a few camp spots out the way when I can't get to better locations. Lucky to have it on our doorstep. Might see you up there at some point mate
Nice one Luke. I’ll look out for ya 😁 ⛺️ 👍
Great footage Dave. Good to see the tower upgraded. Challenging weather can make the journey a tough one for only a short distance. Good on you buddy.
As I have already said lived in Haslingden about 56 years and never been to the tower. I will this year but not in those conditions 😂😂
Hi Dave,
A great vid on the marvellous piece of Victorian architecture, some great views are afforded on a clear day from the top.
Took the Grandson up there ,from Roddlesworth nice little hike up.
Also visited Hollinshead Hall ,how about a bivvy there on Halloween?
😂 All the best. YOD!👍
Nice one Michael. Too scary for a Halloween bivi 👻 🤣👍. ATB
Thanks for that Dave that was great! You're right always try and learn getting out and to 'suffer' is obligatory, if you don't suffer then it's not been worthwhile in m.h.o.! But now being in my 82 year on this planet it is getting very much more difficult for me too!
Cheers Rogar. Glad you enjoyed it. Take care and best wishes 🙏🏻
Great to see the tower again, I used to mountain bike over there myself many years ago!
Nice one Chris 👍
Nice change that Dave.. TC 👍🙏🏼
😎👍
Ey up Dave. Defo need to know your local walks. I've had some proper batterings up ont hills not that far from Darwen.......loved every minute! ( during my running years ). Thought you weren't so far off. Used to work at ICI during the 90s. Good times. All the best.
Haha. Nice one. I just finished working there last year. ATB 👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer Blimin' eck. Small world.👌
Hi Dave. Loved that this video looked like it was in black & white & you were the only splash of colour 😊 What a lovely area to live near.
Big thanks Judy 😊🙏🏻
Good to see you on your home turf Dave.
Still looks as cold and windy as anything The Lakes or Scotland can throw at you.
Love your chatty, good natured information along the route..
You have no ego..its just you...being you...doing something you love and it comes accross in all your films in bundles.
Brilliant Sunday evening viewing.👍
Really appreciate that, as always Simon. Thanks again for watching and VBW 🙏🏻
Thank you for a great video Dave. We did a similar walk from White Coppice over Great Hill and up to Darwen Tower and back through the reservoirs. Much better weather for us tho. Keep it up Sir.
Glad you enjoyed it Andy 👍
Great stuff. Thanks
Thanks Dave!
Another enjoyable video, I find the information and advice you give really interesting, thanks! A great place for a local walk especially as you can walk from home!
Nice one Liz. Many thanks 👍
Great video, what a fantastic place to have on your doorstep 👍
It really is 😎👍
Ace ace.
Oh, this was amazing episode Dave, shots and overall atmosphere are really great!
Big thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. ATB 👍
Excellent!
You northern guys are so lucky to have so much choice of moors, hills etc around you. Down here in Gloucestershire it's very pretty, but it's a right trek to find anything "rugged"! Nice video - always interesting to see the countryside around that area. ATB, Roger
Yeah, it’s a special place for me Roger, being brought up with these moors. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great vid. Reminds me of staying with my grandparents in Keighley and visiting Lunds Tower.
Really enjoyed this one Dave. Great to see your local area. Inspiring in the sense that there's lots of nice local countryside outside of the national parks and AONBs. Where we are is mostly farmland, but still great views, hedgerows and routes. Hope you managed to warm up again! ATB
Glad you enjoyed it Matt. Lots of rugged beauty around here. It something I’ve grown up with. ATB
Enjoyed that, brutal conditions, looked great fun!. I've been exploring my local area recently as the lakes weather has been crap, have enjoyed it and found lots of little gems I would never have bothered exploring!
Sounds great Peter 👍😎
Great to see the Tower reopen. Last time I was there it was still under revamp. I'm out in Dubai and haven't been back for a while. I always link Darwen Tower onto a hike or run from White Coppice and normally doing Great Hill and over to Darwen Tower and back through Brinscall etc... I live this whole area. Irvington always reminds me of home as it's always what I look for on the motorway on my way home to Preston. Great vlog of the moors and your right in saying you don't always need to be in the Lakes when you have areas like this on your doorstep. Always good to give the little guys a chance and visit once in a while. Cheers for the vlog. I always watch your and Black Crags vlogs here in Dubai. My outdoor hike fixes whilst I'm away from home ;)
Nice one Stuart. Big thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. ATB
I meant Rivington. It auto corrected to Irvington. Never heard of that ha
Hi Dave, thanks for sharing this. That's probably not much more that 30-35 mins from where I live but I have never been. I'm going to have to try and get there for a look. Thanks for sharing it mate. All the best, Dave
You really should check it out Dave. Let me know what you think. ATB
Another great video Dave, Yorkshire moors was something I never done in my years hiking, no particular reason. So it was good to get a bit of an insight. The tower is awesome, suppose it reminded me of a Lighthouse 🤔
Cheers Baz. This one is in Lancashire 👍
In all walks of life in what ever we do and how long we have been doing it for, every day is a school day
Excellent video
Absolutely Patrick 👍
Cracking video again Dave, been up to jubilee tower many a time it's a nice wee bit of cardio workout on the way up. At one stage of my career I had a boss who lived in one of the houses near the car park .... How the other half live hey. Stay well 👌🏻
Nice one Alistair. Glad you enjoyed it and best wishes 🙏🏻
Absolutely fantastic and a top place to go walking
Absolutely 🙏🏻
Wise decision not to go to the lakes was up in patterdale on place fell on Sunday the 4th of February the winds were horrendous about 50 mile an hour still enjoyed it though 😊
I'm in next town to you Dave, great video mate 👊👍🥃 Burnley
Cheers Chris 😎👍
❤❤❤
i think the sheep are the infamous carnivorous ones. there favourite prey is campers. not the pre packaged ones, but the real wild campers. then again, if you were being savaged by a sheep, you wouldn't be wild, you would be livid. loved the video, something different.
🤣🐑👍. Cheers Gary 😁
Enjoyed the video! Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
My old company re fitted the roof on darwen tower 👍🏼 good video mate.
Aye. WEC 👍
👍 yes buddy
Thanks for the video its nice to see my local area on youtube. Quick question what make is your jacket looks excellent. Take Care & stay safe.
Cheers Anthony. It’s a Revolution Race Cyclone 2 jacket 👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer thanks, congrats for the 14000 subscriber.
GREAT video Dave!
Big thanks Tony 🙏🏻
The GOAT 🙌
🙏🏻
Possibly scottish greyface sheep thise Dave, might give those moors a little wild camp, if i can find the crash site
Cheers Phil. I showed the crash site on my bivi video up on the moors. ATB
Possibly Black Welsh Mountain Sheep Dave 👍
🐑 😁👍
Lancashire is brilliant, I'm near Lancaster Dave, was around Rivington walking last week. You on gopro 11? It's good in wind😊🍻👍
Nice one. Yes it’s a GoPro 11. I have a foam windsock that slips over the top of it. Think it works great. No need for all this separate external mic malarkey. ATB
@@TheSoloSummiteer So true it sounds good
👋🏻
A great video mate, been up there and Stoodley Pike a few times, always great views, how do you rate that jacket for Winter use? Cheers
Cheers Paul. I used to go mountain biking up Stoodley. Jacket is good, if a little heavy and bulky to pack. I like it tho. ATB
I think they are soays very hardy breed.
🐑👍
They are the original baa baa black sheep. 🤭 sorry about that 😁
😁👍
Another great video, need to visit the tower especially.
What jacket are you wearing?
Revolution Race Cyclone 👍
Lovely walk and video, Dave 👍 - Q? what do you typically have in your pack for a day hike?
Cheers Biagio. Not much. Usually just waterproofs and some gloves. Maybe water and snacks too 👍
Difficult to tell from the film, but they may be Soay sheep from the Scottish island of the same name.
Could be 🤔
Sorry to ask about gear after a fantastic adventure but is that the Lemon Curry colour Cyclone jacket? Looks much yellower on their site and that put me off but on your vid it looks alright.
Cheers Roger. It is the cyclone jacket but don’t think it’s the same colour as Lemon Curry. Mine is an Olive colour which they don’t seem to do now.
pit zips 🤣
😁👍
Wot no drone?
🤣👍
