  • Lake District mountain wild camp in the Hilleberg Soulo at Red Tarn below the Helvellyn range at 2370ft.
Drone used is the DJI Mini 2.
A big thanks to the Swedish outdoor clothing company Revolution Race, who contacted me and asked if I would like to try out their Cyclone Rescue jacket and GP Pro trousers. I’ve had them for a couple of months now and really enjoy using them. Stylish and tough, I really like the quality and design of the jacket and trousers. They certainly performed well on this cold and windy trip to the mountains and I'm looking forward to using them again on future trips.

Its funny Andy. When I watch my videos back it feels like I’m watching someone else. I think I just switch into “Solo Summiteer mode”. Making the videos really does help but unfortunately real life takes over soon afterwards. Anyway, big thanks for your support and glad you enjoyed the video 👍🙏🏻

It's always beautiful with snow on the high peaks. One personal thought about trekking poles...I absolutely hate them and will never use any, no matter what type of terrain. The muscles in your body, especially the legs, need to build strength and cope with all terrains and work with the brain for perfect balance. Using walking sticks or poles makes you rely on them too much, and many of your muscles become weakened due to not being used correctly.
Regarding phone signals, I've always used O2 and found that it has the best and most reliable signal and service in the Lake District and Welsh mountains. Obviously there are pockets of dead space and certain regions where there is zero service no matter what provider you use. Often it is not the service provider, but the quality of the receiver aerial built into your mobile phone that matters the most.

Don’t normally comment as I watch through my tv but thought seeing as you seem to be going through a rough time I’d make the effort to let you know how good your videos are and hopefully put a smile on your face. Just wanted to say i absolutely love your videography and drone stuff. Really makes you want to get out. Keep up the good work bud.

Those winds were weird weren't they, great to be able to see them coming across Red Tarn!!!
At the end of the day, Christmas Day is just one day out of the 365, and its over very quickly. Every other day is a good one too in my book, and when you're out in places like this, it clears your mind. Keep going, keep fighting and keep walking in these wonderful places. And you have a ruddy better year in 2022.

Brilliant Dave, ive walked it many times one of my faves, i never went in winter though, the reason is no one would come with me, i didnt fancy going alone in case of a fall, ( safety first i guess) i think i told you once before theres a plane in Red Tarn, WW2, it hit Stiding edge if my memory serves me right. Anyways great video as always, thanks for your efforts, take care from me here in Canada, Kenny ;-)

I can only imagine how good it feels just standing there by the water even though it is windy. Completely with you on the parking arrangements for piece of mind. I use both Lebara (Vodafone) and Giffgaff (o2) in a dual sim phone. I often find it pretty good in some remote areas (Devon), although I also end up with nothing at times. Take care.

I know what you mean SS. Since I started my channel 2yrs ago I feel I’ve struggled to build any momentum. 2020 was the covid year with lockdowns etc. This year I’ve had both health and personal problems with are still ongoing. The amazing support for people like yourself has helped my motivation to keep going with it, even when things are difficult. You guys are a real inspiration to me 🙏🏻

@@TheSoloSummiteer Not sure what you mean by momentum Dave? I’ve got a channel with 52 subscribers and am always perplexed about the randomness of CZcams 😂. Some of my videos I feel ‘deserve’ more views and likes but accept others don’t! I’ve seen some CZcamsrs sell their souls to the devil to generate more subscribers with all sorts of devices to obtain more views and subscribers. I’m not saying this is completely a bad thing but I suppose it comes down to why we produce these things in the first place? I’m always gratified if I get views and the odd positive comment but to be honest, my main reason for producing my videos is because I enjoy the process and sometimes the end result 😂 Another reason is legacy - when I’m dead and gone at least my kids have something to look back on about what their dad got up too 😂 Everyone has their own reasons. What I like about your videos is that they are honest and not motivated by commercialism. I also bet that’s what your followers believe too? So, assuming I’m on the right track Dave, don’t get hung up on momentum but carry on doing what you do best and the other things will follow (see Pat Dickerson’s channel) I often sit on my computer editing a video and think why am I putting in all this effort for 200 views? Is it for others or myself? In the main it’s for myself but hope others will gain some mild enjoyment from viewing my somewhat hopeless attempt at film making ha ha ha!
