I like the idea of using the weasel to work the seed in. I never understood why people use a rake, in my mind you’re moving the seed from where you intended to put it by doing that. Thanks for the tips!

I really enjoy every simple step. I have some bare spots. Should I oversee at this time? I also have some chickweed and dandelions.
When to seed is weather dependent on your location. You want to seed at minimum around the 50-55° soil temp and warming. Depending on which herbicide you use to kill the weeds, you will not be able to seed for some period of time. That information will be on the label of the product that you use.

Yes I do. I recommend adding some KBG to fescue blends.
Fantastic timing, my lawn is bumpy and in spots where I threw down holy water (shot out to Polo) she didn't germinate. The areas that did grow, maintained its dark green color all winter. If we do this method no Pre-Emergent? Thanks for the post!

I do soil test every year but its not necessary every year. Once every 3 years will be good enough.
My MVS is looking shiny already! Random question: what color do you stain your fence? It makes your yard pop even more!!!
Crazy thing is I haven't stained it yet. I know I should have but I just haven't gotten around to it when the weather was also cooperative.
I already put down some pre emergent and I think I'll wait and see how much the lawn fills in after some spring flush. Any trouble areas I'll probably knock out in the fall.
Sounds like a good plan to me. Being that I am not putting down a pre-emergent, I have this opportunity for the larger areas of damage. The smaller areas of damage I will just let them fill in throughout the spring.
@@ElevatedLawnscapesmy goal is to have my front lawn thick and dense by next year after this year's fall overseed. Need to start on my backyard this year as well. I'm tempted to throw down seed in my bare spots now though lol. Maybe I'll garden weasel the hell out of those spots to maybe break the pre emergent barrier.
You recommended liquid fertilizer before or after this? I had lots of moss grow in this winter so after I rake it out, I'll have lots of bare spots. I usually apply fert week 4 March or week 1 April pending temps.

Quick question... I have the MVS Tall fescue, but was wondering where did you get the Kentucky Bluegrass blend?
I got it from Newsom Seed where I buy my seed locally. I think you can buy it online from Tuckahoe Turf.

Does the weasel not break the seed up and hurt it? Iris seed tougher then that?
It does not harm the seed. If it didn't produce results, I wouldn't use it.
Do you recommend using RTF seed? I live in Western NC in the Asheville area which is a transition zone. It sure would be nice to have a spreading cool season grass that spreads a little faster than KBG. I really don't know much about RTF seed though. It may not live up to the hype. Thanks so much. I love your channel.
I am not going to say I don't recommend RTF but they are not equal or superior to KBG when it comes to spreading. When it comes to RTF and lateral spreading fescue what I have seen is that they have higher tillering or more leaf blades per plant. Therefore a single plant takes up more space and gives the appearance of spreading. I think its a great new advancement for Fescues and I support it but it hasn't surpassed KBG on spreading. Which is why I still add KBG to my seed mixture when seeding.
Haven't had much success with the Barenbrung RTF here either! We're in the transition zone as well but, it all depends on your soil and application timing with the weather. We have been getting a lot of rain and everything is about a month ahead of schedule. You can tell if you listen to Cameron you can tell his allergies are acting up as pollen count is high for the second week in March. Transition zone runs through a lot of state's
The transition zone includes parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, southern Utah and Colorado, northern Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, northern Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, southern Pennsylvania.
It doesn't look large but, it's a lot of square miles.
@@Braze-xxx In this particular video, I was cold honestly 🤣. My allergies haven't quite started yet but its on the way for sure. I haven't used the Barenbrung RTF but what I have seen from people that have used it, it does NOT meet my standards. The color seems to genetically be lighter green until you start applying additional products to it to make it a better green. I am more in favor of the lateral spread cultivars that are on the market.
@@ElevatedLawnscapes Thank you so much for the information. This fall I'm planning on a heavy overseeding project. My problem is I live on top of a mountain so I have very low water pressure/volume. I've contacted a few irrigation companies but it would be very expensive to have a system installed and even then it would be limited even with a holding tank. (Long story) Anyway I guess I'll keep dragging around my water hoses with my small sprinkler output. When I buy the MountainView seed you recommend I'll be sure to use your links to support your channel.
@@lisao9677 You can add a pump to help with the pressure, it doesn't do anything for your volume though. I had to use one from Harbor Freight for my dads Bermuda renovation above ground sprinkler system last year. It made a huge difference. He had the volume just not the pressure. You dont put down preemergent in backyard?
He mentions it towards the end of the video. I tried to do domarnt seeding but my neighbor tends to have a ton of weeds every season so I had to put down pre emergent.

I don’t know how but one edge of lawn in the front may have poa annua. Ripping it all out and may need to reseed some areas.
