Allyn, I have a new construction house on 5 acres In Clermont. I am going to be seeding the whole thing with Argentine Bahia. I have heavy equipment for leveling and prep. It would be the perfect test bed for your Bahia Journey. I have to get this whole thing seeded one way or another. Would be fun to have you along for the journey and have another battle with seeding Bahia for the followers out here.
I was having a pretty rough day and then I saw you uploaded a video and it instantly made me so happy. Thanks for all your hard work! You're the best
It’s always great to have a new LCN video!
I'm aiming to get one of these over an hour just for the heck of it. 😁
👁👃👁 A random neighbor when the next door Lawn Care Nut is yelling "BAHIIIIA!!!!" at his grass again.
Good morning Allyn- Speaking of patching St. Aug spots, I took your advice from a few months ago, and grabbed some Bethel Sod Farm plugs- 48 actually- for bad spots in my front and back yards (watering restrictions now at 1 day per week in Pinellas County until July, so I didn’t think I could keep sod alive) BUT MAN ARE THOSE PLUGS SYLVESTER STOLON HEROES! Thriving just like yours. Thanks for the guidance.
Nice work Cliff!!
We're so glad to hear our sod plugs are thriving in your yard!🌱 Thanks for choosing our plugs!
I’m not a bike guy but that does look pretty neat .
I've been buying the Round Up green bottle in Tampa for 4 years.
what is up AL?! Ready for another season up here in GA!
First Aussie 😁. The Lawn Therapy continues 😎
Ego does Motorcycles WTF mind-blowing 😮
Allyn, I laughed at your "I feel like Tom Cruise" comment at the end of the video. I'm from that Top Gun era too and got the comment. You just need a leather bomber jacket and you are all set! I was not feeling so inspired to get back in the lawn until this video. I live in Northwest Ohio and so we are getting closer but probably more like April for me to enjoy the mow. I really enjoy your videos. I'm going to think about that Ego bike. Looks fun to ride around the neighborhood. Take care and god bless!
thanks bro!! enjoy the mow and the sun on your face (soon!)
The first time I’ve seen the ego electric motor bike for a private citizen. Looks good.
It’s almost April here in Oklahoma and I have yet to mow my Bermuda and waiting till it warms up a bit to seed my bare spots.
perfect timing, thanks! I am patching my bahia this weekend--picking up pieces from great earth in tampa
I've been using the Roundup for Lawns for the last two seasons. It's hard to find this year for some reason. I got it at Ace. One Lowe's had it. It was sold out or out of stock at all the local Home Depots. I've had good success with dollar weed and a few other common weeds. It turns the dollar weed yellow in about 3-4 days. It's never hurt my St. Augustine grass. I wouldn't hesitate to use Image either.
Cool season grass > warm season grass
Boo! 🫠
2Gs is a steal with the batteries. ❤
I agree. Big batteries too. 7.5
@@Thelawncarenut
I went and bought it at Ace and drove it home. Amazing fun 😂❤
That Bahiiiiiiiiia grass ROCKS. Hope you’re well, Nut.
13:24 I can see a slight difference in the blades and colors. Looks great!
If you were in my neighborhood you would get a letter from the HOA. They don't care about weeds but they don't want it that high. My dad used to have Zoyzia in KY and he didn't ever do anything to it. No water or ferts and it was thick and green all summer. He got it mail order and put it out in plugs
One thing I miss about Bahia was you can neglect it for a couple weeks and it'll be ok, but pretty much any attention you give it, it'll respond well.
Weed killer stunts growth, I've noticed that too in my St Fungustine
Sucks doesn't it ?
Another reason to spot spray over blanket as much as possible
Nothing you can do about bermuda (21:50)? I thought you had a new mix?!? I am looking forward to using it!
I am going to spray it again once we get closer to the rainy season.
Not seeing the link to the labels blog post.
Good tip using the weed wacker to prep for sod patches!
I'm still writing it, sorry. I'm about half through. I'll send it out in my email this week fir sure.
I made so much dirt pulling weeds and picking up grass and the leaves never end its almost like try to add as much green as you can and you can still keep going solid 6-8ft tall by 15ft long bed of compost just fill in wherever and add grass seedmix it all up water it in heavy and it grows like crazy water in the morning moderate and it will warm up then water at night too cause cool germination
Dethatch always help my lawn.
I’ve never seen Bahia look like that.
It's stout.
New subscriber long time viewer. Father in law in your area I’m sure. He was a former st Aug guy and now a has new house and decided to go with Bermuda in a predominantly st Aug neighborhood. He is stuck at cutting it high. Has had multiple hydro mulch app in the no sod areas. I try to share my wisdom to him as much as i can. I know he needs help. Any ideas? He’s battling weeds in those hydro mulch areas.
He’s in Parish. Right down the road😂
Pro tip when using these electric edgers. If you get sweaty, it'll drip ino the crack where the interlick and trigger is and WILL corrode the circuitry inside ruining yr machine. So cover that area wih plastic bags tied around the handle & trigger. Looks crappie but it will save yr equipment!
I think I'm in trouble this year, Allyn. I've had family health issues and haven't been home to put pre-emergent in the fall and missed me temperature window for spring. Have a lot of weeds now. And my old bones can't handle several days and nights of trying to catch up. Wish me luck. 😄🫰
You may need to see a doctor if this persists more than 4 hours.
🤣🤣🤣
😂
Al’s gotta look up the “cause I got a m’effing microwave on my head” video and make one on his bike 😂.
🤣🤣🤣
Roundup for Lawns I found would kill my Zoysia (Jamur) if used in summer, Ag Professor said to only use when Zoysia was dormant.
It's allowable on dormant or actively growing zoysia. I'm not sure about Jamur but it does fine with my Empire. You just have to be sure it's under 85F
Dear Gas Man,
Packed Up and drove to Aspin, Sorry about the $ 🙂
That bike has a Harry & Lloyd vibe
It sure does!!!!
Exactly what I thought when he hit the horn! Ha! "I get 70 miles to the gallon on this hog."
Hello Allen what can I use on wild onions growing and multiply every year in the middle of my Bermuda lawn I’m here in Dallas Texas. Thanks for your help
Please update us on killing the Bermuda out of the St Augustine with those $175 products, a ton of us are in suspense
Ill be doing another spray here once the lawn starts growing just a little faster.
It works, kills the bermuda but not the St Aug.
0:23 dominatin!
when i had most Bahiiiiiia i always fertilize it but it never really filled in .maybe I should work on it again
nice bike playa
Thanks bro ! You clicked on that thumbnail didn't you?! 🤣🤣🤣
Great video as usual…. Now I have to get that bike 🤣
Uninspired Bahia grass calls outs at the beginning. One hell of a call out in the truck...nicely done.
You may be my spirit animal. ✨️
Just like how you’re talking about areas where you sprayed for weed control that aren’t growing where they’re much shorter than other areas. I have something similar right around the outer base of the palm tree. It looks like it’s a walking path but I think it’s from just the water that rolls down the palm fronds in a perfect circle around the palm tree matting out the grass. Can you confirm this?
How do you get bahia grass to stop producing the seed heads
ThaNk you babia lawn jesus
Fast Lang gang on CZcams has moved to your area hit him up you guys can go do some pulls on your bikes😂😂 he might be able to keep up with his h2😂😂😂
Hey Allyn, can I put down weed and feed after putting down my prodiamine pre-emergent? I used your video for applying it. Excited for the results.
Is that the area you’ve been rollin’ around in?
Another great video! I’m in the palmetto area and my front yard is looking okay, but I’m struggling to get my backyard to fill in and look good. I need help… the sod was laid about a year ago.
is it really shaded by trees or wide open?
@@Thelawncarenut wide open. Only one young live oak tree. It just doesn’t want to grow. Certain parts grow well and are nice and full. The middle of the backyard is a yellowish green and growing very little, if at all. I have been using the yard mastery app and following the calendar for the products apply. I’m thinking it’s poor drainage and compact soil, but not certain about either.
Can you make a video on Vexis Herbicide Granular?
it works but it's very slow.
Signal grass is a pain in the ass!
Im working on growing bermuda here in Phoenix az. Im getting weeds before and seeds are germinating. Is it ok to use the roumd up for lawns with seeds on bate dirt and weeds growing around them?
On my way to check out that Ego mini bike
if you ride one, I guarantee you'll buy it
You should have worn a hockey mask when you chopped that grass
Thanks!!!!
Hey alan where can i get that citrablue hat from?😊
I got it from the UF scientist who invented the grass lol. Maybe reach out to Sod Solutions and ask nice for them to send you one 😀
Ah man I want that ebike so bad. My wife has forbid me from getting a motorcycle...This kind of toes the line...Maybe I can pull it off.
If I had to use a grass killer to nuke a 3ft by 3ft area of Bermuda how long should I wait until I sod that area or will I be able to that season? The Recognition seems so pricy for the small areas I have. I am considering the Recognition though as my neighbor has bermuda and I have St. Augustine. Our property line is starting to get mixed and I'm ready to spray a straight line.
6:18 citrablue is beautiful. You should re sod the whole lawn with it.
I've thought about it
@@Thelawncarenut I’d recommend it big time. I’m a proud success story of that one. If you ever have any meet and greets in your area is he happy to show all of the photos
Great video! Do you prefer to spot spray image or just spray the entire lawn so that you wont miss or prevent future weeds? Thank you.
It won't prevent future weeds, only kill the existing ones
Ok thank you.👍
What made you want to get rid of the ProVista St Augustine grass at Freedom Factory?
I loved that grass. It just got so torn up that we needed to completely regrade the entire thing - In order to save money I got a good portion of it sponsored and the main sponsor is a turf company called Sod Solutions. It's their turf we are featuring.
liked it just for the intro, lol
What mower do you use on a regular basis to mow your lawn? And would you recommend for a electric mower?
this is my daily driver right now and if you have the money for it, I highly recommend it - it's a great unit (but not cheap) czcams.com/video/gmbUeJeNJH8/video.htmlsi=jD4BGPEIzwfQQuBI
What are your thoughts on Certainty and Celsius for early spring post emergent? I applied liquid Prodiamine this past fall, granular Prodiamine this spring right as temps hit 55 and I have tons of weeds. St Augustine grass in Central Arkansas.
I've never used Certainty but I know it's very popular. I may have to learn more about it so I can make some content.
I think I’ll used Celsius and Halo75, since I have it on hand. I gotta get better at spraying, my lawn looked like it had a mohawk last summer cause I missed some spots 😂
Looks like Ego is sending those bikes to all the paid CZcamsrs
yes they are.
Great video
thankyou!
Are them the no lace Kujo shoes you are wearing ?
They are the new ones called Surge. Water proof. Very comfortable. Here is a 10% off link: www.kujo.com/?ref=lcn
@@Thelawncarenut Awesome thank you so much
I feel so attacked at 16:16 😅
ha ha! was that you in the comments? 😬😆
@@Thelawncarenut Yes 🤣 but its okay, my bahia recovered quickly
@@hopehrl1 well it's not your fault. From what I hear those hose end sprayers empty very quickly which is why I'm not a fan - too hard to control. Glad your bahiiiii a came back!
Allyn, can you counteract the growth stunting of the Celsius by throwing down some nitrogen in that spot? Is that safe to do, or is it just best to let the Celsius growth stunting run its course naturally?
I'm sure it would help.
I've personally had some bad luck with Celsius, East Coast of Florida during two back to back summers. I'm very sure it's not an over application, I was very cautious to stick to the exact mix rate for 1gal (with surfactant), and just quickly wet the area with weeds. It was late summer, Sept, so temps were over 85F. My Floratam St. Aug took a hit, and stopped growing, similar to what Allyn showed in this video, and I tried to hit with some extra nitrogen, and it took a turn for the worse, and never really recovered. I think the nitrogen led to additional uptake of the chems into my St Aug, combined with regular stress from high heat and it overwhelmed it. Okay, it could be some other factor, like a fungus, but I'm going to steer away from Celsius, at least in this one specific area of my lawn. Also, my St Aug was treated with Arena for chinches so, so I don't think it was pests, couldn't find any evidence of that. I've had good success with Atrazine and Image for Souther Lawns, but these I apply in late Fall and early Spring.
@@gregorysantos9188 That's what I was worried about - adding nitrogen to try to counteract the herbicide may result in more damage and stunted growth, not less.
It might just be best to let the herbicide run its course, keep the area well hydrated and then afterward apply some N to grow the grass after the weeds have been killed off.
If St Augustine does not have a viable seed. Then how are new species of Saint Augustine created.
I like the texture of the Palmetto better personally
It is softer for sure.
It just look like you walk on it in a random pattern if I walk in the grass to get into my car I rake the grass to grow evenly like covering my tracks
where to get pieces of sod in east texas?
I like the EGO $$$$$$$ sponsor our grass nut !!!!!!!! Next vid I want to see a BIG wheelie.. BIG
That second half of the video looked really spongey lol I think that's where you would get technical with the ph and soil test I know if it soft and sponget like that add a ton of good quality mostly dry clay soil maybe even sprinkle some concrete powder on a calm foggy day burn it dry that soil no good for basements or building bearing capacity
You sure you haven't just been laying in the lawn too much😂😂
13:02 🔥
thanks for noticing!
@@Thelawncarenut it takes time to be creative ✨
It's compacted
I'm excited to get my ego bike
guess i need to go shopping for the products cause my Bahia looks awful in Kissimmee!
wonder if i can get it shipped by this weekend when i head home...
Easily done. Thrower down.
Have watched many of your vides. Overall very informative. With your expertise I don't understand why you have such a weed problem. Your lawn should be something we aspire to. Not so much though. Why can't you get better results?
Because we are dealing with nature and she always wins. Just like people have tough seasons so do lawns.
Thanks for the quick response@@Thelawncarenut
What did you use to knock out the thistle?
I believe it was celsius.
yes Celsius is what I used a couple weeks before
from herbicide it stunted its growth
Yep you got it !
@Thelawncarenut do i win a discount code on a bag of flagship lol.
Need the bike for 999 tool only
How the bleeding hell are you wearing a sweater? I get this was posted 2 months ago but you don't live that far from me and there was no day in Tampa that I would have done lawn work with a sweater even in the middle of winter.
Take that bike over to JH Diesels for a proper review lol
Good idea!!! He did my leveking kit, wheels and tires on my Tundra
You can come over and
EGO made a bike before they made a backpack sprayer? Bummer…
a sprayer would be super cool and useful!
First
Love the Ego products...except their batteries suck. Im lucky to get 2 yrs on my weed whacker and blower batts. And I am anal about not leaving them on a charger. I do have 2 acres I maintain so they get used heavily. But I will say with batteries being 80% of the cost of a weed whacker/blower...I went back to gas.
$25
Man I really need to read the labels, you end up wasting product by not doing it right and its effectiveness.
Allyn- I'm literally in your neck of the woods for Spring Break. If you feel the need to give away that Ego bike to a subscriber, I can definitely use it back in the Midwest!
Bro, I totally appreciate the Hustle. I do. But I am keeping this one its way too much fun. I hope you enjoy the nice weather this week. Wear your sunblock 🤣
@@Thelawncarenut lol worth a shot. Ego needs to come out with a sprayer and 4 wheeler next
