    @Striperman Před 3 lety +2

    Yes sir. I have noticed over the last two seasons with all the different products I have tried and watering scheduling the thing that has helped my lawn the most is the mowing hands down. The lawn has responded so well to frequent mowing. Whether mowing tall or short just removing just the tips by mowing more often has helped to thicken the lawn, retain its color and over all health of the lawn. It uses up some much energy to re grow after taking off more than 1/3 of the blade. That rule definitely makes a difference and anything below that amount is a good start.

    Thanks Allyn for taking the time to make this great and informative video. One thing I think you overlooked in the how to mow section of the video is the importance of a sharp blade on your mower. As a bit of a lawn nut myself, and when I gave advice from the True Value Hardware store where I sold fertilizers and lawn mowers, I always stressed to the customer to mow with a sharp blade... minimizing the "damage" you do to that grass plant. I keep several sharp blades on hand and change them out every two or three mowings on my postage stamp-sized 50' X 100' St. Augustine lawn. I think proper mowing (and watering) is more important than the fertilizer(s) one may be using. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video.

I mowed down to 4" Sunday. Once a week not enough, clumping up some, at least it has dried out a little this week. And I now need more gas and a blade sharpening. Granted its never looked better, but its easy to look good in the spring. The look after July is more telling of how the lawn is doing.

    When I was 7-10 years old I can remember our Grandparents neighbor in Wisconsin cutting his lawn on a riding lawn mower every single day or every other day. His grass always looked amazing. Good points about making the grass look good. I have a 42 inch riding Craftsman lawn tractor 🚜 but recently spent $700 to get it all fixed up and running like new. In is a DLT 3000. I have been itching to get a Toro Super Recycler push mower for exercise and to allow my older kids the chance to be able to cut the grass. That would be awesome to let my kids cut the grass and enjoy the mow too.
    I took my wife and one of my four kids to Sunniland in Longwood, FL to get some 7-0-20 with Insecticide fertilizer. I also sprayed and prayed with the four pack of Micronutrients I purchased for you off your site, Allyn. I sprayed the spotted areas really dark 🕶️. I was so happy that just about an hour ago it poured at our house 🏡 just north of Orlando. Thanks, Allyn for mailing me the stickers too I asked for. That was very kind of you. God bless.

    I like the analogy to working out. Some people just work out a little bit and spend tons of money on supplements expecting a miracle. It's huge business, and people just throw away their money really. Same with growing grass or gardening. Master the basics first like mowing, watering and feeding the lawn. Do some dethatching and aeration and weed control and you're like 99% of the way there. Then if you want to buy a super lawn supplement go ahead. 🤘

    Those cranes sound like the velociraptors in “Jurassic Park”. Pretty eerie to hear if they’re behind a big wall or covered by trees.

    I have a fiskars reel mower with a catcher and was given a rotary mower that wasn't running. Put on a new carburetor and made sure the blade is sharp. I alternate both mowers to keep the thatch down some and to give a nice healthy cut on my st Augustine. Plus the reel is quiet and doesn't require gas lol.

    Hello, long time fan here. I was wondering if you could make a video about leveling a lawn. Not just laying down top soil or sand but like an over haul. My lawn has so many slopes. It transitions from 7 inches in elevations. I mean, I got trees on a downward slope that I wanted to put a nice stone edging around but I honestly don't even know where to start. Please help. Thank you. Also keep up the fantastic work.
