Flexible hoses like the zero-G will not make you lose water pressure, if it does you won't find fire fighters using similar flat type hoses. There are also 2 types of zero-G, the 5/8 and 3/4 inch ones. If you want more water flow, you can buy the 3/4 inch ones, which are bright green in color. I use both types in my above ground DIY sprinkler and they work well.
Hydretain has been a game changer and Allyn should receive some kind of recognition for both promoting it here in his CZcams channel and also offering discount in the Yardmastery store. I bought mine from Yardmastery after watching one of Allyn's early Hydretain video and this has allowed me to not go crazy on the watering. My lawn remains green and lush this summer despite having no rain here in WA and me watering only 1 inch per week.
The only thing you have to be aware of is when used on lawn, Hydretain will not pull moisture from the air and make water for your plant. What it does is to capture water vapor that are created when the water you put into your lawn evaporates, the chemical condenses the vapor into water droplets that will be available to the grass roots, these water vapor will otherwise just escape into the air and you get less plant useable water. So you will still need to water your lawn, but you can water less because more of your water will now be available to the grass.
Your Hydretain experiment from a few years ago was what convinced me to try it. Now it’s part of my regular routine!
Lol, having no sprinkler system myself, I often have to hand water early in the morning. Nothing like the neighbors hearing me throw down explicatives at 5am as I am about to lose it with another kink in the hose.
I always walk the hose out and spin it nice and flat. Helps a ton ❤
I'm glad you added this tip. I'm in Texas and it is so hot this summer for extended time periods . Today I went out and really went after it with the hydrataine , RHS and dawn soap mixture . Two days ago I did the microgreen . It's a brutal summer

Hydretain is an amazing product, I absolutely love it in the summer. It's a real game changer!
I used Hydretain for the first time this year as Summer temps were getting regularly in the 90s, on the spots in my KBG lawn that are the first to dry out. It definitely helped. It kept the lawn from going dormant there like last year. The dry spots stayed greener longer, and will bounce back quicker when temps cool off. I'll be using it again.
Switched to Flexzilla hoses everywhere in my house and shop and couldn't be happier. Good American company too, if that matters at all.
I have (had) that same hose...I now have changed over to the firehose type material hose (don't know what they're called) and I'm totally satisfied. They're lightweight, are easy to manage...although they do kink, a light flick straightens them out. Good video Al!
Love these Hydretain tests - thanks! From a non-irrigation system waterer in Texas - my best hoses, really the best I've ever had - are from Harbor Freight. Looks/feels like a car tire, never kinks. Everything else I've ever tried - kinks. And, yes the Zero G hose robs you of water pressure.

You need a Flexzilla hose bro! It’s very kink resistant under pressure and it’s lighter than a typical heavy duty hose. I always use 3/4” hose cause I like to flow, but if you don’t mind a 1/2” hose they got those with swivel ends and in a brown color instead of the light green.

100% with you on the ZeroG assessment... Youve gotta get the 3/4in hose to get any good volume out of it and those ones are good. They still kink but I think they do kink a little less and they are pretty nice. Only hose I'll use now but the 5/8s hoses aren't worth your time, you're absolutely right
Really like my Flexzilla garden hose, very light and easy to pull and doesn't t kink up when dragging it around the yard.

Hey LCN, after doing my spraying and praying this weekend, I had an idea for you. In the box you send your bag fertilizer, look into printing on the inside to use it to pour your liquids to protect your driveway or pavement.

I highly recommend Flexilla hoses. I own a professional pressure washing company and have 300 feet of 3/4" flexilla hose as the water feed hose for my machines. I have been using them for years with no issues or kinks. (Never had a leak or had to replace them) They are getting pulled off the reels, drug across the concrete, and hooked up to 1-4 different houses a day. I think you would be very happy with 100' of 5/8" flexilla! They are also very light, flexible, and offer great water flow. The 3/4" will obviously offer better water flow, but if you are using it to hand spray or with a hose-end sprayer, the 5/8" tends to be more user freindly.

I bought the bio advanced version “Lawn Root Moisturizer” as we can only water once per week. Not sure of the difference, but it seems to be helping my back yard where the sun bears down stay green.

I've found the solid black rubber hoses are the best for minimal kinks they seem to last the longest too
No measurable rain since the first week or so in June, and temps are in the 100s. I expect them to go from 2x/week watering to once a week any time now. Going to have to order another gallon, because i think i may have 1500 sq ft worth left in the last one. Sprinkler dragger here, so i have to apply the hydretain in sections to get in watered in immediately.
I used Fore Play on a dry clay spot and now I have a few small mushrooms so you know the soil is retaining water.
I'm down in Punta Gorda helping my ninety-one year old father repair the damage from Hurricane Ian, I've started rejuvenating the St. Augustine Lawn. We are in serious drought conditions as well.
Would you recommend the liquid or granular Hydretain for 10,000 sq ft lawn?
Seeing the piece of palm tree laying behind you while mixing Hydretain, reminds me of my weekly chore of picking up palm fronds, blossoms and pods, cutting and barreling them for pickup. One of the down sides of maintaining over forty palm trees in SWFL!
In the Luba app, you can change metric to imperial. It's in the setup!

Try the Flexzilla hose. As long as you hold it correctly as you pull it’s able to resist kinking

I bought a craftsman 3/4 " x75' RUBBER HOSE ! NO KINKS EVER ....AND shame on me I leave it out all year in Illinois.
I need to buy some because my water bill almost 80$ this dang high pressure been stuck over Louisiana about a month no rain here!!!! My back yard pretty much dead lol terrible clay soil is difficult to water deep now it'll cracking like concrete
If you set your Luba higher and power it with a 24v power supply like the one on the base. You should get rock-solid satellite tracking and performance.

Underhill makes a product called Twist-Ease Kink Eliminator that allows any hose to spin freely so you don't get kinks

3:58 I have a black hose from Walmart I bought in 2010. I forget who makes it. It hardly ever kinks compared to all my other hoses
I’m trying to fill in my floratam yard. I’ve been filling in with diy plugs. I sprayed lawn booster under and over as I planted. The sod is doing well but the bare spots seen hydrophobic so I don’t think the healthy is going to spread. I applied hydratain but water still rolls right over the sand/bare spots. What should I do next?

Pro Tip: There is a solid line printed on your hose. If you unwind the hose with a straight line it will not Kink. Try it.

I put down hydretain in mid June. August Temps in Texas are in the triple digits. I plan to put down another installment of hydretain. Do you think that is enough for this drought? Basically will it survive? No rain in the last 30 days. No rain in forecast.
QUESTION: my lawn is suffering from the 102 deg. avgs. days. My soil is dry and really compacted. I feel as though the water just isn’t being absorbed by the soil. My lawn has brown spots with really green area, mostly around the sprinklers, but still compacted. NEED HELP. Thank you.

I'm in Houston, TX. I have St Augustine lawn. I applied Flagship 2 weeks ago, but we have hot weather around 100 degrees, and I have a lot of yellow spots... Can I apply this product to help my lawn with this weather right now?

My lawn looks exactly like that one you are standing on but I have Kentucky blue grass and live in eastern Washington.. this year it looks like crap. It’s blotchy yellow and almost looks like rust but it’s not. The grass roots look dead . I had a lawn service last year but fired them because they burned my green green lawn. We don’t get much rain so I water an inch twice a week and more in the dry areas. But I’m also getting mushroom’s because I was thatching instead of bagging never again. I used hummus too break it down but my lawn is driving me crazy.
I have tried 3 times and the hydretain does not work on my yard. Tried your product (I forget its name) and when weather was cooler 80 and below it did spike the green effect temporarily.
Bermuda on clay soil. I guess the product just drains out quickly and not able to stay at the root area.

Can I, should I apply this when it's raining out to ensure its watered in, just to make it easier? Also, I have plenty of Blue Def, can I apply this at the same time too? By the way, I'm in Ohio, with cool season grass, applying in the summer.
yes in the rain is a good idea. This is the only product that I recommend applying in rain. For the Blue Def, I'm not sure on that one - it's not really a lawn product so I don't know how it would interact with other stuff. I know it's just urea but again, I don't know how it would interact with actual lawn products if applied together.

Can I mix Fourplay and RGS together?
Yes but I feel like that is redundant. I'd use FOURPLAY for spots or zones only. It's expensive. Let RGS be your monthly app across the entire lawn at the low rate. It will drive roots all season long.
Eley sells a hose. Very expensive. But it is impossible to kink it

I just invested in a zero G hose at Lowe’s, it didn’t retract or expand and it kept the water pressure perfect for me! That’s after using a retracting hose for so long. I can definitely see the pressure difference.
Yeah. Zero go hose is boss. Especially with a pump attached to increase the pressure. Flow matters
As others have said... roll that hose out and get it straight before hooking anything up to it. Kinda the same method when you use a pressure washer/high pressure hose. You're slipping, Allyn...
