This was a brilliant song. Each song makes me want to watch the history. This one in particular..the beat, the melody, the lyrics. A new favorite! One of the best songs to me, and clear unrated. And the history behind is awesome.
Yeah I really liked this one. I mean yeah I say that about a lot of the songs I react to, but lets face it I've been handed some kick ass bands to react to lol. This one just had a really feeling to it. Can't explain it. Very underrated. The history I will film in the morning in a double feature to try and start catching up.
This is an amazing story about the hero Walter Wenck's eastward attack toward Berlin, aimed specifically to provide civilians and the garrison of Berlin with an escape route to areas occupied by U.S. forces.
"Comrades, you've got to go in once more," Wenck said. "It's not about Berlin any more, it's not about the Reich any more."
Their task was to save people from the fighting and the Russians.
According to some sources, Wenck's actions, with the help of luck and a U.S. General, successfully evacuated a large number of troops and civilians (numbers vary between tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands)
Wenck himself being one of the last who crossed the river.
Dont forget he send a Radio message to Berlin telling "Hurry Up we are waiting for You"

@@JTMMTV It also is helpful to look up what "Nicht ein(e) Schlacht - (sondern) - Eine Rettungsaktion" bedeutet "It's not a battle, it's a Rescue Mission" (basically in the Song they did like a word-for-word Translation to get it in the Rythm, but it works)
I really like that they played a snippet of Bach-Air in the guitarr solo. It sounds so sad and fits the song perfectly.

This one is one of my favorite songs from Sabaton.
That being said, I either like or love all of their songs.

"To walk a day" is about how the 12th broke contact on the western front and walked to the Eastern front in a day.
There is a documentary called Hitlers Last Army about this songs subject
Liked the contrast between the lead vocalist and the harmonies.
Thank you for the wonderful reaction. This is one of my most favourite and I also think most underrated Sabaton songs. The story behind this is awesome, the music is great, and even including Bach into it... outstanding!
Great song and the history about it
The history vid for this song is great can’t wait for your reaction to it. This is basically one of the few events where you can sympathize with the Germans in ww2. lol

The americans were on the other side of the Elbe. Watching this and doesnt allowed the germans to cross and capitulate for them. They falled back and let them cross when soviet artillery started to hit the army standing there.
Just expect what it has to be.
As american: Looking on the other side, seeing all these civilian, soldiers, waiting and just wanting to cross the river
as german: Waiting, got declined t ocross, and simply look in the sky and hear the artillery shells fired upon you - till the americans retreat and you can fall back.
Fact about Wenck:
He was offered being the commander of the german army after the war. The Rank was and is: "Generalinspekteur der Bundeswehr" (Major-Inspector of the german army) and he said he only will be the commander of the german army, if he gets the rank 'Oberkommandierender der Bundeswehr' (Grand-Commander of the german army). The Goverment refused this offer, so Wenck did.

A decent sabaton song, but a bit of an obscure album track. We need to get to the proper classics like To Hell And Back, 82nd All The Way, Uprising, 40 To 1, Carolus Rex, Lion From The North etc 👍
History behind this song puts this song above some of your "better" songs.
@@danielrupp7578 That's the cool and unique thing about Sabaton. The songs that are considered their classics and best music wise (and are always played live) are not always the most interesting ones story wise. The flip side being that some of the coolest stories are in songs that musically most people find 'not the best'. So there are kind of 2 different ways to enjoy Sabaton.

I have a question: why aren’t you uploading the history video to the songs you react to in sync? For example last history vid was for Christmas truce but I can’t find a reaction to that song? Instead of that why aren’t you uploading the correct history videos to the most recent songs you react to?
I believe he is catching up on history episodes to songs he reacted to originally. He reacted to Christmas Truce a while back but wasn't doing the History episodes back then so he is catching up to then be able to do songs and history closer together.

Yeah Ross nailed it, when I first reacted to Sabaton I was informed of the history but was unsure how to react to it if that makes sense. Now the Sabaton loyal continued to beat it into my head LOL and so i finally watched one and well was hooked. Since then I have been wanting to record as you stated the song and the history. The issue right now is time, my son is switching schools and also I have a full time job and 2 other kids so recording time is limited. That being said things are settling down and I will be taking a day to do nothing but record for 8-10 hours and get things caught up and in the library for scheduling. Long winded answer to Ross's short and to the point one but there it is!
