Great video! To get the app working you need to pay/donate $20 to get the license to make it work. Pay/donate, he then emails you the license and link for download. The Top mark on My camera was 90 degrees off and had to be rotated clockwise 90 degrees. My Aimtrak and Wii bars were also messing things up and had to be turned off/unplugged. After finding 2 intermittent working IR lights and having the wrong firmware flash in the board, 6 hours later I got it working :) If your gun has a D-Pad and start buttons etc you can wire them all up to this board. Leave everything loose until you get everything soldered up and then secure things in place with hot glue where needed. Only secure what is needed in case you need to take things apart. Test it well before securing everything in place.

although i still recommend watching it through fully instead of skipping around so you get a good idea of whats happening, especially if you have little to no experience in stuff like this (like me).
although maybe you can skip the optional parts like the RGB, rumble and recoil if you dont plan on doing those

    0:26 led sensors
8:19 recoil mosfet, attaching ground and recoil to arduino (recoil is optional)

I made a new spreadsheet with all the links you listed, updated and duplicates removed, with prices for all components. It looks like it's going to be about $315 before shipping and taxes for all of the parts, including the GunCon. Pretty expensive, but on the plus side if you decide to build more than one you will save a bunch of money because of all the extra parts you will have leftover. Thanks again for the walkthrough!

Just wanted to say that there is a little mistake in your explanation. It's not recommended to connect the rumble motor to the VCC, as it causes a voltage drop and might kill the voltage regulator if the rumble uses too much current 😉

    Hello Arcade Pirate.
Awesome video! You inspired me to make my own gun. I’m looking for some help on an issue hoping you might be able to resolve it. I purchased the ultimate Gun4ir kit from Ray and was able to get a Namco Time Crisis gun shell with sliding solenoid. I had to get a sub miniature micro switch for the trigger. I am not sure how to wire it. It has 3 tabs. 1st tab has a C by it, the 2nd tab has a NO by it and the third tab has an NC. On the wiring sheet from Rays ultimate kit the
Left click/trigger goes to pin A2. Here is where i am stuck. Not sure where to wire. I was thinking the wire from A2 goes on the C Tab on the switch . and a ground wire from the NC tab to a ground on the audrino board. Would you know if that is the correct wiring for a sub mini. micro switch?
Anyways always looking forward to your next video.
    Thanks AP!

Can I use a IRF540N Mosfet in place of the IRL540N Mosfet?
Also if I use a P2N2222 transistor in place of the PN2222, I just have to place it backwards yeah?

Your link to the resistors for the IR build leads to 1 ohm resistors, not 27 ohm. Will those work anyway?

@@ArcadePirate Thank you for the video. I bought those 1 ohm resistors, but they still worked. I emailed the developer and he told me to use 7 to 8 ohm for the emitters I have (same clear ones you linked to) so I take it there is a lot of room to play with the resistance. :)

@@ArcadePirate Tested it out today, I could see the LED's with my phone camera, but the gun isn't seeing them well enough. I used the 7 ohm resistors raymond? told me to use. I had to tear it all down :( and go back to the other resistors you have posted here. I coated all the traces with liquid tape so it was difficult, but I got 2 of them done so far and they are a lot brighter, I had to order more 27 ohm resistors to finish it.

The camera from a Wii controller is pretty much the same, but I think there's a little more to the build. It's all in the main guide with Gun4IR

instead of building the ir leds couldn't you just use 4 wii usb powered sensor bars, I am pretty sure they would work the same way? they're like 4 bucks on ebay

I connected the trigger line to the arduino. When I pressed the trigger button. Only the led and motor will move, but the solenoid will not move. If the solenoid is tested on the gui, it will move. Did I miss something? I use a micro switch as a trigger. thanks
