I've always loved Foo Fighters, and this will always be my favorite song by them. You have to respect the fact that Dave Grohl went from sleeping on a friend's couch while making Foo Fighter's second album, to currently being worth over 300 million today. The fact that he survived the death of an incredibly popular band, and would go on and to his own popular band is almost unheard of. He played every instrument, wrote every song, and performed every vocal performance on Foo Fighters self-titled first album. So he basically made a solo album, then formed a band to perform it with him live, afterwards. That's very impressive.
Dave wrote and sang his way both out of the pain from no longer being with his wife, and out of any financial issues. I've seen them live twice, and they never fail to deliver. Everlong is almost always the final encore, and was at both shows I attended. I hate that Taylor Hawkins is dead. He was the perfect drummer to match Dave's energy, and lack of presence behind the drums. Taylor was to Foo Fighters what Dave was to Nirvana.
Absolutely! Dave Grohl's talent and resilience shine through in every song. And yeah, Taylor Hawkins was an incredible drummer, and together, they made Foo Fighters unforgettable!
Dave sounds like💩
@@SoundscapesRockwho's remix of the song is in your video and where can I find it? Love your videos!
He performed every part of every song on the demo that was sent to the studios. After he got a contract, he assembled a band, then the band performed all the songs for the official studio release. The songs you listen to on the CD, or hear on the radio, are the ones being performed by the entire band, not just by Grohl.
These videos are so extremely high quality
Really?
Not much of a foo fighters fan but this is one of my all time favorite songs
I named one of my horses " Everlong" in Red Dead Redemption 2, the stableman complimented me on my choice
i love watching these videos because i love Nirvana and Foo Fighters
Awesome! So glad you enjoy our videos, and there's plenty more rockin' content coming your way! 🤘

And don't forget to mention, it was played as string quartet version at Monica's and Chandler's wedding 🤟👌
I thought in the first segment that this was going to be another repetitious video where someone just narrated the lyrics and narrative. I am very pleasantly surprised to see that you have very well made analysis about the song and legit a well made video.
P.S. this is the first video I've seen of yours. I subscribed

This is one of the greatest pop rock songs ever written. I believe even Dylan told him the same
A masterpiece of journalism that could never be googled.
This song, "Black Balloon" by the Goo Goo Dolls, and "Shimmer" by Fuel are what my sophomore year of college sounded like.
I just wanted to say that you do such a great job with this channel’ your research is pretty good’ and your narration is easy to listen to which in my opinion is really important when having a channel as u don’t want to put people off with a really monotone voice or some that’s to over bearing etc’ anyway I just wanted to say thanks on behalf of us all ✌️
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate your kind words and support. It means a lot to know you enjoy our work. Keep on rockin' with us! ✌️
Such a interesting & captivating video on one of the best songs ever written, sub most certainly earned 👌🏻
Nice post
Upvoted and subbed. Great video. Have been on a huge Nirvana/Foo Fighters kick ever since I finished Grohl's book a few weeks ago. Thanks for making this video!
Welcome aboard! Thank you for your support!
The Everlong video is great because Michel Gondry directed it. The concept has to do with à reoccurring nightmare Gondry had as a child where his hands would grow incredibly large and his mother would have to spend hours rubbing his hands so he could fall back asleep…Gondry is behind some of the very best music videos out there and he also directed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep, Human Nature…there is a box set of DVDs that show some of his best work…there is a whole series of them I had the Spike Jonze one the Michel Gondry one and the Chris Cunningham one…I watched the Gondry and Spike Jonze one over and over and over…I would highly recommend anyone getting those Box sets there is many many hours of entertaining wonderfulness on them
Totally agree! He's a master of music videos and has directed some incredible films too. Those box sets showcasing his work are definitely worth checking out. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and recommendation! 🎥👍
Great video!
A brilliant tune that for some reason has yet to realize it’s own brilliance.
Anyone has a link at the song on @6:30?
This is one of my favorite songs. When I first met my wife I’d blast this and to this day she doesnt even know why.
Next anniversary, gather around the ole' CZcams, play this video, and tell her - "Honey, this is why!" Just prepare for either a sound applause or a rock-n-roll eye roll. 🎵😎
Anyone able to post a link or confirm the maker of the remixed version of the song starting @ 6:30? I'd like to hear that.
This channel is FIRE
What is that incredible Everlong remix?
Nicely done! I subscribed to your channel.
Awesome, thank you!
@@SoundscapesRock You're welcome!
Is there a link to the version of the song used during the lyrical analysis?? great video !
SECONDED. It's awesome, I'm looking and looking and can't find it.
It is a masterpiece...
I really appreciate the “song exploder” type detail.
Living with Barrett jones while with nirvana definitely helped him write a lot of his earlier stuff that would become Late and the early Foo’s
It’s my favorite song by the Foo Fighters. It’s why the Colour and the Shape is my favorite album by them.
I have 3 of their CDs. The Colour And The Shape is one of them. :)
The others are " Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace" and "One By One."
my funeral song, its kinda in reverse, but I hope to meet my late wife in the afterlife, well we can all believe
For me, this is the best song ever written! Yeah, I said it and I meant it. The rest be damned standing next to the genius of Dave Grohl
Nevermind was mostly chad channing
This is by far the Foo Fighter's best song and the only time, in my opinion, that he matched Cobain as a songwriter.
It's brilliant. If you only write one song as good as this in your life then you did something great.
Also would just like to note that the opening chord is AMAZING and I still use variations of it in songs I write to this day. And the drum fills are ridiculous. Only Dave Grohl, my word....
Kurt also dances around a similar chord in All Apologies.
I find the Scentless Apprentice riff to be similar to the song Mardi Gras from Scream’s album Fumble.
Interesting observation! Similar riffs can pop up in unexpected places sometimes. Thanks for sharing that comparison!

He’s given multiple interpretations over the years. Be that as it may, the breakdowns that are outside of facts are a bit of speculation.
Fantastic. You've got a new subscriber.
❤Growing up with Dave from Nirvana to Foo Fighters. Dave such a nice person, his passion in music such an ICONIC to me. Can tell much more..
oh btw, He can write 1 song in just 2hour completed! 😂
That's pure talent right there!
I’m surprised people are still making videos about nirvana
He's really rock legend..
Some would argue that Low or Walking a line are much better songs.
Another song about love from the undead, imo --- little by little being another
Their acoustic version on Howard Stern is credited with helping the song chart.
This was the only thing I was surprised not to see in the video...
That’s right……………….on the surface 🤫
A glaring omission that you don't mention Everlong having been chosen as the farewell montage soundtrack in the final episode of Late Night with David Letterman.
you're absolutely right! That was a major moment for "Everlong"
wait Wait WAIT! I mean absolutely no offense when making this statement, but BUT, I never realized before: What such an incredibly beautiful WOMAN, T-HAWK DOST MAKE! LmMFaO! RIP! We'll miss you, Brother! Things JUST WON'T EVER quite be/feel the SAME, without you, Ever(long), AGAIN!!! ;) :o)
The song is good it’s just lost it’s initial impact for me.
=/ as everything does...
Didn't he said its about a drum?
A one hit wonder and a corporate cover band for the last 25 years.
Sooo, in short it's a song about a girl?😆
It's a tall story...
🤦
I have heard the music of both Nirvana AND Foo Fighters. Foo Fighters do not sound anything like Nirvana. Just saying!
Classic
Meh.... Grohl stole Cobain songs ❤
