Dad died today.
1:20 am.
A five day battle with brain cancer.
I played this song for hours on a $49 dollar acoustic guitar beside his death bed.
He couldn't talk but I know he could hear.
It was the last song he ever heard,
and it was an honor to play it for you.
I'll miss you forever dad.
Edit: Your comments saved my life. Thank you.

Truth be told it's my favorite Foo Fighters song and I wrote it too
Frfr and very very few songs nowadays have that type of power either

May your neighbor rest in peace. Life is not eternal, nor is it ever easy- but we can make the most of it. Those around us, and within ourselves to be the best example of what it truly means to be human. To put a positive effect on others hearts as they have done on yours. Enjoy the little moments in life, cause you’ll never know when it’ll end. ❤🖤

Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into
And out of the red
Out of her head, she sang
Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow, how you wanted it to be
I'm over my head
Out of her head, she sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever be this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Breathe out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head
Out of my head, I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

I’m so very sorry. I lost one of my older sisters back in 2004, it almost broke my entire family. I promise you, regardless of beliefs;you will see him again and he is around you. How do I know this? As a former Catholic, then Agnostic followed by dying /coding about 3 times so far because of a seizure disorder (Hospital ER has brought me back) I’ve gotten my answer that THERE IS MORE THAN THIS WORLD. I was on life support after my last episode yet I’m not afraid of dying because I KNOW there is more. ✌️ ❤️

+SuperChris85 It's sad because some Nirvana fans hate Dave because if it wasn't for Kurt, he wouldn't be this popular.
+Siguure OwO I would be pleased for Dave, since he was able to go on and become successful afterwards. He didn't let it be the end all, be all of his music career.
+Siguure OwO That's weird though, cause I love both bands it was only about two years ago I knew Dave was part of both, so I wouldn't think he being a part of Nirvana had anything to do with it, well not as much at least.

I was 14 years old the first time I listened to this song. At first I never paid too much attention to the lyrics and their meaning. Two months ago I met a girl and we started to forge a very nice bond. I'm not afraid to admit that I started to have feelings for her. Today she told me that she will leave the town next week to finish her studies, and that she will probably not return until next year. I'm happy for her, but I can't help being a little sad. And that was the moment I remembered this song, specifically "If everything could ever feel this real forever, if everything could ever be this good again". 11 years later, I'm finally able to give a deeper and more personal meaning to this song. And this is the story about why I'm here tonight. If you took the time to read this, thank you, it's late at night and right now this is the only way I can vent.

I can relate. I'm only 16 now, and my father played this song all the time when I was too young to understand it. I started to have feelings for a girl in my class last year. I only really started talking to her in the last marking period. I went to her birthday last month, and got her a pearl necklace. I didn't even wait around to see her open it. Now a new school year is starting, but I don't have any of the same classes as her. I probably won't ever see her again. Here I am now making a mix tape I probably won't send her, and sharing sob stories with strangers on the internet after midnight.
Benjamin Khoury I read this first and thought you said you gave her a pearl necklace on her b day (when you’re older you’ll understand)
My wife died from covid 3 years ago. We maybe listened to this song once together at most when we first started dating. But every time I hear it, I'm reminded of her. true, also new music is crap. 90's 80's 70's music is the best. it was peak and i hate it when i put on like nirvana or smashing pumpkins and ppl say "this sucks" as they put on generic rap with the most boring, generic, unoriginal simple boring crappy trap beat thats the same 3 notes repeated throughout the whole song. people who listen to modern music dont have good taste.
@@venom_295playz realest shit
yessss
The golden age of music is always going to be whatever you were listening to around the time you were in HS or college, when everything is new and you're finding yourself. There have been studies done, it seems to be pretty consistently between ages 15-25 that our music tastes fully cement. This was the golden age of music because this song filled a hole in your soul. That's the beauty of music though - newer stuff, you don't need. You're not in that place anymore. But other people will.
(Also there's the fact that it's only with the lens of hindsight that we can see what was a pop sensation and what sticks around for decades.)

Best Foo Fighters song, hands down. What a hymn of it's time.
IDK My Hero is a masterpiece
@@predeterminedmeat5024 everlong is leagues above everything else they've done

@@bentownsend4017 Listen to their first two and their latest album. There's a lot of good songs to be found
to me is best of you and pretender but this one rocks
Man it was in 2011 when I first heard this song, changed my life forever, had it on repeat on my iPod shuffle. My parents were in a toxic 2 year long divorce, I was 16 my lil brother was 14. Our parents were so caught up in fighting eachother that me and my brother were able to get away and explore the city on our bikes just a couple kids trying find something out there to make the pain go away, unsure of our future we knew we had eachother. I met a girl that I was falling in love with, before we moved to Seattle, such a crazy sad but yet beautiful time of our lives, this song brings back so many memories of being in highschool and the friends I had 😢
this was a great song then, and it's a great song now
I feel like this would be a good song to end a movie with
Well they did end the tonight show with DL
Yes
Little Nicky :/
Not in the end but this song was in wolf of wall street :D
Like Stone Temple Pilots-Plush

im doing it right now, join in!
Everlong
A lot of people love this song, and rightfully so. This is one of the most beautifully written love songs out there.
But, like many, I also associate this song with my late father. I lost him almost 5 years ago. And, when I do things he taught me, I think back to us singing along to classic rock. And, I always had the sneaking thought of, how long will I have this for? Will I ever have this feeling again?
In short, no, I don't think I will. And that's okay. But, even though I'm a bad singer, I plan to sing along with those precious to me. Every time of doing so is just a little bit different. And, that's okay.
To Dave and the guys, awesome band bro, congratulations, RIP Taylor
This song is the embodiment of the phrase “moments before disaster”
For me its enlightenment and freedom, because rules not made of nature arent rules, they're opinions.
Lmao
yeah for tiktok kids

Why so?
This song is a masterpiece. The soft intro guitar, then the bass and the drums come in so hard they just mash into one of the best instrumentals ever
Yes thats how a song works
Agreed. The first time I heard this song I felt it. Played it again straight away, rare that that happens..not even my usual genre !
@@richardguerrero884 I cant💀

Like a faster grunge song
This song is so addicting.
one of the greatest songs ever made
Taylor busting out of his nightgown and bed to reveal his drum kit always cracked me up. If any man can be in Dave's band and play drums, that man earned Dave's respect and so he deserves YOUR respect. RIP Taylor Hawkins ❤️
Omg yes..Was always hilarious to me to see him dressed up.. lol but that jumping out of the bed scene was always my fave. He was a beast on the drums. His playing always reminded me of the rapid fire of a machine gun.. especially that part of the song. He will definitely be missed. 🤍🕊🕊✨✨
I have nothing but respect for this man.
he's an amazing drummer, singer, guitarist, song writer. he obviously loves music loves his fans he's great person in general it would be impossible for me to not respect him and the rest of the foo fighters
Aaron Schmitt and bassist and everything that was in the first album. He recorded it all by himself (music anyway obviously had help with sound and shit)
the westbro baptist church picketed his concert, so he played a pro gay song right in front of them
Nicholas Reed so now I have another reason to love Dave
NaGe Gh lol do you really need any more :)
Legendary song helped me through a lot ❤ life has been so stressful lately amd i have important exams coming up please pray for me 🙏🏻
It’s my belief that everyone has a song they rock out to in their daily lives either consciously or subconsciously.
This song is and always will be one of those daily songs in my head whether I’m 28, not married & no kids when this song first came out or married with 5 kids today moving forward.
Taylor you are and always will be the sexiest man in a wig. May you RIP!
this song reminds me of my highschool years, when everything was taken for granted... but as time goes by, people change, you change, life changes
I swear mannn…💯
I was hanging out with this girl and her friend on top of my garage one night. And she out of the blue snuggled up to me when this song was playing, we held hands and now this song just encapsulates the feeling I got that night.
I love you too homie 2022
You hit the nail right on the head peep...we had so much in front of us,good and bad at that point. The world trade center attacks, two twenty year wars,India and Pakistan coming to the verge of nuclear war ,Katrina and a series of hurricane and weather related disasters, the great recession and the rise of millennials, the covid 19 pandemic...all bad. But there was high speed internet, many many medical breakthroughs, smartphones coming ,Obamas first 6 years in office, trumps first 2 and a half years in office ,the Arab spring, occupy Wallstreet/anonymous,The New orleans saints 😳 won a superbowl and Drew Brees became a hall of famer.Tom Brady won SEVEN superbowl rings and played till he was 45!!! Elon Musk and almost everything he did aside from that crazy flamethrower he made for Escobars brother 😆 now island nations are disappearing and it appears that global warming truly is real ( idk who or what caused it just that we can't stop it)
💯
This song will go down in history as one of the all time mastery of musician genius, thanks fellas
It’s one of those you wish you could hear an entire album like
this song will not go down in any history book because it's plain and straight ass
This is so good but you must hear “The Wave” or “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🤘🐺 🌊

Some of the best guitars and vocals ever
My hamster has died yesterday and this song cures my sadness

I don't understand how a genre like this could die. Alternative rock was amazing!
People dont want to be "Depressed" by "despressing music". They wantto feel cool, sexual, on top of the world...So they go to other types of songs instead of relying on songs like these that remind of us of more important things than their shit. That's part of why bands like these dont get enough attention
loll r u kidding it aint dead or what were told "dead" is at all!
@@BeccaCalaRoarr3 of course it isnt dead. but the number of people appreciating better music is decreasing. The numbers go higher when it comes to things related to sex and violence... unless maybe the songs were put on the radio? It's hard to say. But a lot of people dont ant to be "depressed". they dont fucking realize that the opposite of depression is stress and stress comes from caring and it's a type of emotion.
@@XKnightLightX I get your mentality, it stopped "decreasing" when we say/&said its not and the more we say/*said it and ya explain that daily to those who had *Passed tanse) it wrong and not how it was intended. so ya I know there are basic words and ways to communicate simple things though just dont say that "(you would see a decline of hard core Rock music)" and ergo it aint! I know u get it *got it Roarr!!!
@@BeccaCalaRoarr3 So basically, you're telling me that whether or not rock is dying, if we say it doesn't and if we do our part to keep it up, then it will keep on going. therefore, instead of talking about how rock is dying, we just go "roar!" xD?
Spend an entire semester of college listening to this song walking in between classes has a very melancholic feeling associated with it
One of the best rock songs and one of the best music video
