Seems like a good option when carrying no/little weight; I would imagine pretty useless when traveling with the traditional touring set up of fully loaded front T-Bag & backpack on the rear rack....

It works better when not loaded, but if you turn your handlebar to the other side of the kickstand, it also works.
I've done a great trip in Germany using a T-bag and a saddle bag. I did prefer to half fold, but also use the kickstand for fast stops.

Thanks for vetting this specific kickstand for us! I'm going to wait until after I get the bike to decide whether or not I want a kickstand but I'll definitely get the same one as you if I decide I need it. I don't ride as often as you do 😉

Fine when new, though absurdly expensive. After a few months the collar which retains the stand out of the way when not in use slides down the shaft and the leg droops dangerously loose.

I guess you are talking about the kickstand. You are right about the price, but I've been using mine for more than 3 years, and it is still like new. It is working fine.

Just a share of my experience with the kickstand for Brompton, don't buy the type that requires to bolt onto the rack frame screw hole if yours comes with a rack. Buy the type the same as Chris, instead. Somehow, sandwiching the kickstand plate under the rack frame will disturb the rack wheel geometry when the bike is folded and caused one of the kickstand side ezywheel not able to level with the rest of the wheels.

I was ill-mannered. Anyone who loves Bromptons is on the 'right' side. I ride with our 9 kilo terrier in my front pannier on my e-Brompton and the other day the bike fell over and hurt the dog when I'd leant it on a wall by a shop. A prop might solve the problem but it needs to be strong! I like the elastic band hack on one of the brakes to stop the front wheel rolling when the bike is leaning on the wall.

The pump is a small one and works on every bike (Brompton, Road, MTB)

Hi Chris! I just bought a Brompton and also installed a kickstand... I have a question though, have you tried using the kickstand when you are loaded, e.g. when you have front bag?
Because I have tried using the kickstand with a loaded front bag but it tips over 😅
I guess the kickstand is only good when you don't have loaded bags on the front??

When loaded, you must tourn the handlebar to the opposite side of the kickstand.
And try to place the kickstand on a higher ground. This way will balance the weight.

I have a Bluetooth Smartmike microphone for the Samsung Note 10/20 videos and use the original Insta360 go2 camera mike.
The Smartmike gives a good quality audio, but some times the APP stops recording and I loose some footage. It is not a perfect solution yet, but still working on it.

Brompton electric is fantastic because is an assisted bike.
If I use my bike for commute, or need to go up various hills(slopes) on my daily commute. For sure I'll think about a Brompton Electric.

Hi Chris. I really like to know if this kickstand will make problems if you folded the bike completely? Some people complain about that. I am planning to buy one but really want to make sure it will not create any problem when I folding the bike. So far I didn’t find any review video showing this (fully folding the bike with kickstand installed on it). Thanks

There is no problem when the Brompton is folded having the kickstand mounted.

As an owner of a Lightweight, I absolutely won't degrade it with adding a Heavy Metal Kickstand, but if needed, I have found a loose stand to be brought in a bag and put on the one pedal arm, originally I think intended for an MTB, with two extra long feet to be unfolded and adding to the "plate" of the stand. I hope to be allowed at one time, by my dear wife, to bring it to absurdly still left-driving Malta, to be able to increase my range from our place of stay. ;-) Finn

I think the need of a Kickstand depends on the way you use your Brompton.

This is a good question. I would guess not.
The Brompton eletric is heavier on front, you will need a wider Kickstand to balance the weight.

And Your "Garmin Speedo". You may buy a special set/lightweight/holder to mount it on top of the brompton "stem", by the bolt, of course in my case I have changed it to a new "Titanium bolt", and also with eventual special, similar mount "bars" for more items to be added, as also lights, both along the bike and the same way as the handlebar. I have "a box" with options for this, and several GoPro-like cameras (I still need to find out how to add their content to this computer?)!!! ;-)

That is also a great solution. On the touring bikes, there is a special Kickstand to place on the front wheel to help balance all the load.
