Yeah, Hasbro Menasor is just a straight up good Transformer and all around great action figure\toy. The individual bots work great, the ALT modes are solid, transforming them is a pleasure and combining them into the final form is just plain fun. It really hits the nostalgia button for anyone who was around in the G1 days. I'm happy to see the "Classics" line grow into this, it has something for everyone.
with the DNA upgrade pack even better. the 3rd parties should use this as an example that Motormaster's trailer, transform into the connecting parts for menasor. motormaster should transform into menasors torso and not just be squashed as cube in the back.
I always look forward to these. Entertaining as ever and probably a fair summary of the figures featured (I say 'probably' because I have only actually picked up two of the figures mentioned, thankfully not ones on the 'worst' or 'disappointing lists)👍
Hahhhahahaa, i didn t know you already checked out MS bruticus. I was wondering how much fun Robert D must ve had thinking about how frustrating the tabs would be for you! XD. It's weird, i usually don t get legends, but i did get this one. It was the most refreshing and frustrating proces i have been through transforming a figure, but you REALLY need to pay attention to the instructions, or it will suck even more ;o). I think that made the completion worth more maybe for me. No shaving off of blastoff needed if you do it correctly.
My brother went through the nightmare that was the trainbots and I watch all year as you and him alike both got more and more disappointed with every figure. I'm so glad I didn't buy them. I feel bad that my brother did. They are miles away from being MP. Could of been amazing but sadly they were a popcorn fart. The squeaks were echoing throughout the panel and we could hear your frustrated mumbling while transforming it like a serial killer watching his next victim. If you see this, please touch grass, you've left an impression on me.
I can understand the disappointment with Bruticus. I actually bought it after humming and harring for ages, partly because of your reviews, Bobby. I think it's great there are definitely issues, though they don't really bug me, and to my surprise, Magic Square's materials don't bother me. It feels a little out of place compared to the others on that list though (especially those Trainbots). On the other hand, I despise Eject and Rewind. Finally got my recently and... I kinda wish I hadn't. Otherwise, I think it's a good, agreeable set of lists.
In general the MMC Oversized tapes don't work for me. I had all the Decepticons and sold them all except for Ravage. (They did work fine in an oversized MP display with Wei Jiang Megamaster... but that's not what I bought them for, and Ravage by himself works just fine in that display). They're fine action figures but the combination of a functionally useless altmode (it's cool but ultimately it's just a 3-d rectangle... it doesn't DO anything, and there's no Soundwave for it to interact with) and an overly-large and somewhat weirdly-proportioned bot mode (and that was true of the Decepticon birds and, to a lesser extent, Rumble/Frenzy as well) make them undesirable to me.
I’m speaking for myself of course but the Robosen Bumblebee didn’t hit that mark because as a kid in the 80’s, Bumblebee didn’t mean that much to me as a character. The Bayverse didn’t change that at all.
I can see why you were disappointed with it, but for me Deathsaurus was the figure of the year. (I don't buy non-transforming Transformers... so while I'm sure that Jazz is just a categorically better thing, it's also expensive AF and doesn't do what I expect TRANSFORMers to do). Mine was impeccable, no QC issues whatsoever, beautiful deco, amazing accessories that all integrate into each other (except for the stand, I wish that stowed under the display base)... it was SO good that literally the only thing I could think of to improve it (that wouldn't be silly, like a rotating chicken neck for a Werechicken mode), would be better hands. Which I'm pretty sure are forthcoming anyway, given how easy they'll be to swap out.
My favorite is Newage Swoop. Such an amazing figure and you can choose multiple versions or get them all. Newage for me has essentially took all my Transformer money this year.
i got haslab deathsaurus and saber last week for mmc feral rex trade mega worth it very happy with both and look amazing definitely main display piece catches anyones eye when they walk into my room
Allright, this might've pushed me over the edge to getting Star Toys Blitzwing. I've been disappointed in the transformation-feel of 3P Triple changers before, but I'll take your word this one feels good.
I always find it interesting to see what entries I have from these lists. This year, I have 2.5. Dreamstar Silverbolt! Moving on.... And the MMC cassettes. I have the Cang MiniThorilla and its strange because he is #4 of that mini set for me, and so obviously the worst. The backpack doesnt plug in, the ape rear legs are half baked and the transformation is lazy. He feels like he is from a different line to their Divebomb, Headstrong and Tantrum.
I'm really conflicted about FT's version of Powerglide. I barely made it through one transformation before putting it back into bot mode and vowing to never attempt transformation again. But the knee joints were the kicker, no pun intended. The difficulty of snapping them into place is ludicrously high. The amount of force you have to put to make it happen (at least on mine and so many other people's copies) is truly unacceptable for a toy that costs that much. FT's Pipes was similar this year. On my copy, It's impossible to completely compress his centre chest panel. It's just will not completely close and lock into place. That's the big problem with so many of these third party toys that have similar joint and tolerance issues. When the plastic starts to age, that knee is snapping off. That chest panel is cracking. They aren't built to last. They're built to be used once and put on the shelf and never played with again. And that's a real shame for something that looks so nice.
Worst toy I bought all year was Fans Toys Powerglide. He looks fantastic in both modes but, I hate how many sacrifices were made in order to get that fantastic alt mode. Throw in the mess of a transformation sequences and it's enough to make me want to pull my hair out. Emgo316 really helps when it comes to trying to transform him and even then, it's complicated. Sadly, I own 2 of your top 5 worst as I also own Iron Factory Prowl and no, I can't transform him without ball peg joints coming apart. It's so bad that I just parts form him as it's much easier to do. I have DX-9 Blaster and he's good enough that I never wanted or even considered buying Fans Toys Blaster. I might have my friend paint him though as he does a fantastic job. He's currently cleaning up 2 of my Jetfire and turning them into Milia Fallyna Jenius and Roy Focker Veritech fighters.
I didnt get ft blaster bcos i got deformation space blaster and i got deformation space blaster bcos i knew ft's blaster was gonna be plain just like there soundwave so why spend the extra. Both are plain and quite dull but 1 cost 100+ bucks more than the the other with a slightly better paint job
Based on his video (from memory), I think he just doesn’t really like the G1 design and prefers a more modernized version with high metallic paint like KFC released. He thought the FT looked to simple/bland, especially in the crotch/hip area. I get that those area are simple, but that’s just how Blaster looks. It would be like taking Bumblebee and saying a VW Beetle looks dumb and then make him a Camaro…oh wait. To me, the metallic KFC Blaster doesn’t belong in a MP collection, it just doesn’t fit in…but we all have different options on these things which is cool. I don’t always agree with BSF, but it’s cool to hear his opinion.
I wish I would have known you was selling Blaster when you did.. I missed out on the opportunity to get one from showz 😔. On a good note, I was was able to get in on a 2nd run of the Blitzwing.. looking forward to additional ad to my MP collection.
I'm always shocked at how much love Combiner Wars combiners get. They are objectively terrible with brittle plastic, weak joints, poor articulation and excessive mold reuse. Half of the smaller bits don't even have actual feet, just hollow box shapes at the end of their legs that they can stand up on. I have Legacy Menasor and IMO he is a whole like of "just fine" but he is light-years ahead of any Combiner Wars set.
I've heard of some issues with the MS Bruticus but I have been very fortunate and love it. Can't argue with your #1 choices in any category, all solid choices. Just not sure how XTB didn't make disappointing or worst just with their qc on the Omnibot..... Great video

So I wasn’t going to get the ft blaster but then I realized if I want all the tapes I’d have to get him. So are you going with the mmc tapes then? Their birds are too big in my opinion for the sets to work, but I guess blaster doesn’t have any so that’s not a problem with him.
I get blaster. Still have mine, gave him the Iacon 3d labs chest insert and added a few paint highlights to it, it gave it enough life that I'm satisfied. Maybe mmc will surprise us, or we wait forever for TT.
My no. 1 Transformer of the year is Magic Square Bruticus. I have had no issues with it. I enjoy all 5 members as individual figures, the combination process and the stability in combined mode. It is probably my all time favourite combiner from any company. As for other figures, Menasor is my favourite combiner so was really happy with Hasbro Menasor. While there were some design choices I didn't like, the good outweighs the bad.
I feel like FT Blaster is the top shelf best MP Blaster ever made and has better shelf presence than KFC’s. So I really don’t get the disappointment. When I see people display the metallic KFC Blaster, I don’t think it looks like the character at all, or it just doesn’t fit into a modern MP aesthetic. I never bought the KFC because it always looked like a weak placeholder until a good Blaster came out (like many XTB products). Obviously if you don’t like the G1 design, and prefer a different interpretation then maybe KFC is for you. I just don’t think it works with the direction MP has gone over the last 10 years.
Jive X (Toy Jazz) is the top figure of the year for me with Variator (Gears) in the next slot. Worst figure of the year was XTB Bond (Counterpunch) or whatever that turd was officially called. I think this belongs on all “Worst of the Year” lists.

He was pretty clear when he said he liked all the individual figures. The combined mode being a mess is what made it disappointing not bias against the company that made it.

Someone who doesn't like these things, doesn't collect them, doesn't like the company that makes them, calls the plastic gummy, doesn't like the cartoon aesthetic, shouldn't even bother reviewing these figures. He's only doing it to try to increase his subscriber base because he knows these are popular. The title of this video is best/worst Transformers. That Magic Square's combaticons/Bruticus is on the worst list, is silly.

For a Haslab release, Deathsaurus was very low tier, thus disappointing. Unicron, Starsabre, Leo, then, sad trombone... Deathsaurus. Really went downhill in a hurry. Given the Hasbro layoffs and general corporate bs, this toy was built ot a price point rather than being the best it could be.

I think the Predaking is amazing but I've moved on from G1, I prefer updated takes and more IDW (Alex Milne or MMC) designs.

Look, I’m not familiar with your channel. But when your first disappointing figure is Deathsaurus because you think it wasn’t as good a deal as Victory Sabre, then I stop watching. Judge the figure for itself and not against some other figure for its price point.

For a Haslab release, Deathsaurus was very low tier, thus disappointing. Unicron, Starsabre, Leo, then, sad trombone... Deathsaurus. Really went downhill in a hurry. Given the Hasbro layoffs and general corporate bs, this toy was built ot a price point rather than being the best it could be.
