Sometimes the best part of traveling is changing your plans last second and finding yourself in a crazy beautiful place with close to perfect weather conditions for some new adventures!
In Spring of 2018, we were newbie RVers on our way to Alaska and drove our RV up to see this odd looking rock formation jetting up out of the ground in South Dakota. We were only there for a few hours, but every year since, Corey has wanted to go back and stay at the base of Devils Tower to get the full experience in this extraterrestrial place!
We made a split second decision on our way out to the ranch we work at in Wyoming and decided to make a one night deviation from our path. We got a last minute reservation at the KOA right at the entrance of the monument. And what a site it was. We traded one amazing view (Mount Rushmore at Rushmore View RV Resort) for another!
Corey had 2 goals for this trip: 1. Get a Milky Way shot with Devils Tower and 2. Do sunrise and donuts from the hike around the base.
Someone mentioned to Corey a beautiful field with a great view of the formation on the other side of the campground , so he and the girls went out on a little scouting trip to check it out. Corey uses the Stellarium App to see the location of the Milky Way when he is planning on heading out for some night shots.
The next morning, we were up bright and early for a very special edition of #sunriseanddonuts. A few episodes ago, we visited some friends at Hurts Donuts in Bettendorf, Iowa, and got to makes some amazing apple fritters. If you missed that one, you can check it out here: • DISCLAIMER | SHE DIDN’...
We froze a couple fritters that day to bring them along on a special sunrise (this was the perfect option) and were very surprised by how they tasted a couple weeks later.
We were also joined by a special guest for sunrise and enjoyed the lovely hike around the monument! This area has such a cool history as well, so be sure to stop and read all of the signs along the trail when you visit!
Stay tuned for next week as we head off to Wyoming! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new video!

Ok. So I went in June of this year. Got into my campsite, drove the truck up to Devils Tower, hiked around, took lots of photos, got a t-shirt and hiking pole medallion and drove back to my site just in time for the deluge of all deluges to begin. I’d hoped to go back to the Tower the next day, but it rained all day, was misty and foggy and made things super soupy outside. I stayed inside almost all day and, honestly, it was awesome! Turns out I needed a day to rest. My photos may not be as full of Milky Way as yours, but isn’t it great that a photograph really does speak volumes to the person who took it? I look back at my images and I remember exactly where I stood, how I setup the shot and what it felt like to see the size, texture and … weirdness of Devils Tower. It is so excellent. Im glad you got both your Milky Way shot and your donut sunrise. 😁😁👏👏
Never apologize for your beautiful photography and Timelapse. As a disabled person, watching ur videos is as close as I’ll ever be to reaching some of these incredible places. You inspire me to work on my skills in the places I can go on my rv adventures. Safe travels.
Your photography is amazing. It's like being there in person. Can't wait for the next episode.
Such a kind compliment. Thank you so much. It is always our hope that people feel like they are with us on our adventures!
Your photography is always on point. When I first started seeing y'all with LJMJ I was always in awe of your shots that you captured. Now that I'm subscribed I never miss a video. Safe travels.
We went here 2 years ago We camped in the Devils tower campground and we were right at the base of it in our camp next to the prairie dog town We had a perfect view of it right out of our dining window We also went on the trail all the way around The Indians have hung prayer sacks in the trees along the trail It was such a sacred feeling being there
I love all the time lapses, no need to apologize! ☺️
In fact, every time I see your awesome time lapses it reminds me that I always forget to take time lapses. 🤪
There’s a lot of pre-thought and preparation to get them just right. And you’ve got it down Perfect!
There’s no such thing as too many time lapses. 😜
Your Milky Way shot with Devils Tower was amazing was amazing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We LOVE your time lapses. Please keep ‘em coming.
Ok, thank you 🙏 😊
We have been watching your channel for several years. We also watch a few others regularly but we really enjoy your camera work it’s out standing. Thanks for putting out there!
By far one of my families favorite stops on our cross country road trip.
Such an amazing Milky Way photo!
I so enjoy your videos. I am 76 and have limitations. So because you wonderful people I get to visit the awesome places you visit! Thank You!
So we went out west for a month and came back the first week of September and stopped all across Rt80 so disappointed we didn’t cross paths. Enjoy watching every week of your adventures.
The night sky is so clear out there kids.... Thanks Corey, Jess.... Pop's Mr Dink and I remember those!!
Was there last year with the family. It's amazing! I did hike the entire base at age 60 and weighing 75 pounds more than I am now! LOL It was 95 degrees and it was brutal!
Wow! That is amazing! Congratulations on the weight loss! That is a major feat! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
The Black Hills is some of my favorite country. So beautiful there!
That Milky Way shot is absolutely epic!! I was fortunate enough to camp there during last year’s Blood Moon Eclipse. One of the most memorable experiences of my own adventures. That place is just magical. Safe travels, friends!
We went to devils tower, on our way back to the PNW, from a family reunion, at The Palmer Gulch, KOA. At Mt Rushmore. It’s funny that we did our trip in 1999, and they Still are showing Close Encounters. I wonder how many DVDs of the movie they have blown thru all these years.😅 we love your videos. Keep up the great trips. We will miss you off the road now. We were hoping to run into you somewhere. But we understand.
One more follower to say i love the video(s) y'all post! You seem to always capture spectacular images and awesome family togetherness! Please, no apologies ever! Safe travels always! 😊
I don't comment often but watching devil's tower
inspired me tonight. I've followed you guys for at least a couple of years and have enjoyed revisiting so many of the places that you are seeing now. The most of our travels were 15-20 years ago. We live in Michigan and have travel from east to west north to south. Love your home state of Maine. What a great experience for your girls.
I’m honored you took the time to comment, thank you, seriously! Thank you for the encouragement, have a great night 🙏
Yay!!! Glad you got a few shots of the prairie dogs. We were at Devils tower almost a year ago today, so October 2022. We had finished a job filming in Deadwood for a client, and stopped at the tower on the way out. We stayed at the KOA but since it was October, there was our camper and 3 others. However because it was so empty it made the trip to the tower just amazing. To walk alone through all of the prayer ribbons was a spiritual moment. The place really was amazing. We also go out of there just in time, as it was staring to snow as we were hooking up. Great video guys, it brought back some fun memories.
The devils tower KOA is our favorite place ever too! We are tent campers and we had a place right down by the river!! Yes!! I love this place so much too. And devils tower itself is awesome!!
Every adventure gets better !! Keep that time lapse goin it's awesome and inspiring. Love you guys !
Really enjoy our weekly visit you take us on with your family and travels. The video and pics you share are amazing. Memories with family and friends are such treasures today. Thanks and Safe Travel.
Spectacularly beautiful!
LOOKS BEAUTIFUL AT SUNSET
What an interesting rock formation!
I love your night sky photos and time lapse!!! They're epic. Keep them coming 😊
I enjoy the time lapse photos. Enjoy the ranch. I miss those episodes.
Love devils tower
We were there Memorial Weekend. It was awesome during the day and poured down rain in the evening. Great hidden gem.
Wow another awesome video! Thank you Corey and Jess, what a gift you have given the world! Love it love it lov it!😃
so inspiring, thanks for letting us follow your family.
I love the time lapse! Scenery was beautiful ❤
Beautiful views and hike.
I love love love how much y’all love this place because I do too!!
Seems like such a cool place. Definitely on the bucket list. Safe travels!
I've been there but so much has improved and changed. It was in the late 1980s when I was there.
We loved Devil's Tower. When we were there in June of 2022, there was a young man, (I think of Native American descent), that was spreading the ashes of his brother up there
Love the time lapses and all the details you go through to get videos and photos at the right time of day or night. That was a porcupine in the tree. They climb trees when threatened and you may have startled it walking by.
Thanks for taking us around Devils Tower. Fun video and delicious looking fritters. Great Milky Way shot! Love your family and adventures. See you soon at the ranch. Safe travels and God blessings
Very Cool. Great photography. Bucket List!
GODS NATURAL BEAUTY AND MAJESTY
So beautiful. Thank you for your wonderful shots. Now I wanna go there
Last time there were able to secure a spot in the campground there in the park and capture full moon over the tower. Love it! We saw the remains of the ladder.
J love watching all your videos. Not only do you produce the best videos but there is only positive things in your trips. Even when there are sone issues as there always will be you guys keto on going and make the rv experience the best it can be. You guys are real and make me continue to love this lifestyle. That why i live watching your videos snd can never get enough. Thank you for always sharing with us. You have no idea what a difference you make in my life. 😊
wow..just wow.
The one day that we were able to spend at Devil's Tower was the one day that summer that it was socked in by fog. As we were walking around it, some guy coming the other way said it was clear on the other side, so we practically ran around it only to find he was full of it. 😂 We're definitely going back again.
Stunning photography! So cool to meet you in Albuquerque!
We stayed there last year at that KOA . Watched the movie outside. Love that movie. We stayed on the side closest to the tower .
Love Devis tower!! Cool place!!
Great episode, and as always great photography.
May be the best video I have ever seen about Devils Tower. ❤️ the sunrise view photo. I have a photo from that spot but taken in the afternoon. Thanks for the memory!
Wow !! Great pics
We stayed at that KOA a couple of years ago. It was incredible.
I've never been that closet to Devils Tower. I've also been wondering about that KOA. Thanks for being so specific about what you do. Every time you mention going to the ranch, my heart warms. I haven't been to the Big Horns in soo long and I'm so jealous! I know you always have a good time there, so I'm looking forward to your next video. Thanks for your special views and time lapses too! Later!
DEVILS TOWER NEVER BEEN BUT WILL IN MY 5TH WHEEL WHEN I GET IT❤❤❤
Been there n enjoyed the prairie dogs as much as devils tower- there was hundreds of them !😊
We were there in 2013, we rode our Harley out there and walked around the tower as you did. Great views and you capture so much more with the time lapses and of course your still shots too. Thanks for taking us along again to relive the memories.
I always called it Mashed Potato Mountain haha. 70’s-80’s child I was. Great job FOS camera and editing crew !!
We were there this summer, too. We entered through the south to Custer SP, and took the Iron Mountain Road! For the uninitiated, this is a thrill ride of a road - and got the teeshirt! LOL
I loved the red rock outcrops, and Devil's Tower is just amazing.
Fantastic video, I can't wait to make that walk around the tower again, about the 10th time but will spend a day or two next time, great family you have!!
In the late 70s, I was out doing some telephone repair work one night on a country road, saw some strange lights! Not too long after that,I made a huge mess in my living room, and soon found myself compelled to hike this mountain!…….. or maybe it was a movie I don’t know it was the 70s!
Always great photography! Thanks for showing the hike around Devil's Tower. I was there last summer, but it was 100 degrees. Way too hot for hiking. I thought the whole area around Sundance and Devil's Tower WY was gorgeous. I camped at Routte Campground for 4 days. First time I ever had Black Angus wander through a NF campground! It was so weird because there were no other animals or birds. Not even a chipmonk or a crow. Nothing at all. The aliens must have got them all!
Beautiful video. Great job 👍
Thank you 🙌
Once again, great meeting you here. Next time I'll bring the donuts. 😊
ENJOY
Amazing video Corey! Safe travels.
Nice job! Devils Tower was such a cool place to visit. We didn't know about such an awesome campground so close by so thanks for sharing!
Glad you got to stay in Devil's Tower KOA. We did it in August of last year and it was just a phenomenal place to stay...
We have been there. We stayed at the campground at National Momunent. We hiked all around that thing and never found where the Alliens landed!
One of my favorite places to visit 😍
First time I’ve ever seen one was in a tree, Rocky Mts. State Park. Didn’t know they climbed trees
22:07 "The Cone Head Shot"
OMG do you guys have my western wanderlust kicked into high gear, I can't wait to go out there again.
Awesome video ! Thanks for sharing.😊
Love this
I saw a porcupine climb a tree when I lived in Alaska.
Comment #1 -- "Stalking people since 2017" LOL funny
Comment #2 -- Not tired of the time lapses yet. Some beautiful photography in this video.
That was amazing. Thanks for the tour.
Yet another wozas moment , what an awesome country to live in , and so proud with ya flag flying high
Another great episode. I was there on my way home from Mount Rushmore. I wish I stayed at that campground and I enjoy your time lapse photography and your celestial photos. Thank you for all the tips and information and best to you and your wonderful family. Hope to meet you on the road someday safe travels.
I remember when that KOA was part of the prairie dog nation. Lol can't wait to be there again.
Loved this one👍
Stalking people since 2017 - LOL
Thanks for sharing these amazing views.
Our Wyoming life near Gellett has place, harvest host, for rvs. Plus they do you tube. Switch it up was there back awhile ago.
Awesome! We will have to check it out the next time we are in the area! Thanks for joining us!
Love the time lapse.
Thanks for taking me along! Your photography is amazing. You really should start selling your pictures. Count me in for a big order if you do.
When we were there a few years ago we got to watch several climbers in the process of climbing. It was awesome.
Beautiful Astro shots! I do the same thing when we go camping. Get out the apps, and line up that Milky Way. 😂 I also schedule our trips based on the moon phases.
That was fun! We were just there. We wondered if campers could walk from the KOA into the park. BTW, loved the time lapses.
The title on the thumbnail made me hesitate to click this one.. Someday I will have to go there, this Thursday I head down to the Grand Canyon so my fall trip is already in the works but maybe next year.
Love u guys!! All the best 😊
Loved this video and your photography. This place is on my bucket list!
Allen! Allen! Allen!!!!!
Who is Allen?
great place. We were out there this summer. The ladder is still visible if you know where to look.
We stayed at the Devils Tower Koa in 2021. Devils Tower was one place on my husband's bucket list. He did the hike while I stayed back on a bench with the dog. We enjoyed watching the movie. And I even went on a tractor hay ride around the property. Thanks for the video.
I was there April of this year, its a magical place.
Wow 🤩 what an amazing shot 📸
Thank you for sharing.
Definitely trying out that app for my night photography.
Thanks. Safe travels
The most beautiful place on earth 🌎 or shall I say, America 🇺🇸. Thanks 👍 😊 for sharing this with us.
as usual a great video once again.....one of these days ill see it in person i hope.....
Nice review of Devils Tower. We were there about 15 years ago and your Vlog brought back some great memories. Thank you. Also your time lapses are awesome.Mike Kelley
Next time stay at Belle Fourche River Campground there in the park. You can hike from the campground, past the Wind Circle sculpture, through the prairie dog town, across the highway and up the side of the mountain to the "outer" loop trail then to the parking lot area for the main trail you did. It's nice hike with about 650ft of elevation change. If you want more than the paved walk around the Tower, there are more primitive trails to enjoy with some amazing views.
