So for some reason my mic settings were all janky for this video. I ended up fixing it like halfway through recording my s5 tier list, which will be coming out in soon - so keep that in mind. Thanks.
Yo kiwi it would be great to see you review Ray Donovan and to hear your thoughts on the American Gigolo series on showtime
think it made your annoying voice sound better..lol
For episode 2 of each season: Marco told Jimmy in 110 that if he were a lawyer he'd be driving around in a White Caddy. Definitely a big factor in Jimmy choosing one.
Did he say that, Marco? Ha! Nice catch
@@RobinHerzig Yup. When Jimmy tells him he's a lawyer making a living (not rich), Marco replies on how if he's not rich and driving in a white Cadillac he's doing something wrong.
I always figured the woman ashing out a cigarette was Francesca
I never realized 1-10 had the same intros for every season but just more degraded. I always thought it was random.
Same here! We should know by now that nothing is random in this universe.
Not sure about the intros, but I find it so intriguing how much Kim and Walter have in common from a directed point of view. Specifically having the same shot at the airport like you said here, or how they walked towards Gus's house, and more. I suppose one could say that BCS is much more about Kim breaking bad than Jimmy who already did before it started, but it's just such an interesting choice. Especially since she seems like a side character at best for most of the first season
Don’t forget “I like it. I’m good at it”
@@MegaMetal96 I was going to say something about what you commented, but that username made me tear up lmao
@@peterschultz573 Glad you like 👁👅👁
In season 1, Marco makes an even more direct suggestion about the car than Kim's "flashy and American made" - he specifically says a "white caddy".
you know a show is a great if you have a whole video explaining the intro of each season!
Bojack Horseman laughing in the distance
Todd keeping the tarantula was also shown at the end of S5E5 of breaking bad. In his car, after threatened by Mike to not bring a piece to a job w/o telling him
I think it was 506 because the dead freight episode ending after Todd shot drew
There's an interpretation by the channel Ological that the gradual corruption of the video files seen in the opening is not just evocative of Jimmie's corruption, but also his tendency to metaphorically try to "rewind" his life and start on a new "track".
As time goes on, the tape(s) degrade more and more until they don’t work anymore. Thank you for the video man, keep up the great work!
seeing the opening change at the end of the show really blew me away and I was really hoping that someone would make a video dissecting it so thank you. this was very well made. subscribed
This is a long shot, but I tried to tie this one.
5:53 pay phone reminds me of the one Jimmy used to warn the Kettlemen’s in 103, Nacho. The distinctive difference is that the intro/promo was done in daylight and is aluminum, whereas the episode was done late at night and was blue. There was the use of it in other episodes, but that was the earliest one being used.
At 9:44 you forgot that the scene where the old lady finds Jimmy's commercials on her lap top after searching Albuquerque conman
Thanks, this analysis is great.
Yeah always seen the gritty deteriorating openers as metaphor for Saul/Jimmy (later Gene)'s life + career degrading into a less + less recognizable self, as he heads deeper + further away from being Jimmy… till we find him as Gene who literally ran away from everything he ever was or did or achieved
We couldn't know how low he'd go, but we could see it kept getting worse
Then the VHS is like we're already looking back, before we can see what's ahead
Haven’t watched the video yet but I already know this is gonna be fire.
I was still a little bummed we didn’t get to see the final transformation a little more. We spent so much time obsessing over little details, why no replace that with a montage showing Saul acquire each of his iconic symbols and the house? Just one fans humble opinion
thats why you get to watch saul scenes from Breaking Bad just a little bit sadder now :)
in my interpretation of the seasonal VHS degradation (originally elaborated by Ological in his FANTASTIC basement breakdown series), it's symbolic of how Jimmy is a person who keeps trying to reset his life with a blank slate and reinvent himself to escape the troubles of the past - and like re-recording over a VHS tape, the quality will degrade each time, and the original recording will still bleed through. by the end of his story, as Gene, he's done this too many times and the fragile VHS tape is just completely f*cked. this coincides with his realization that he cant keep running from his past, and has to face the consequences of his actions, from every phase of his life, from Slippin Jimmy to Jimmy McGill Esq. to Saul Goodman, and finally to Gene, if he wants to hang onto some fragment of his soul and find any kind of peace in his life.
it's such amazing symbolism to build into a simple effect in just the intro to each episode. bravo vince, bravo peter, etc.
Another banger
Yo man just want to say your vids are super cool when bcs season 6 was still being aired. I would wait for your breakdowns after each episode lol
Leave it to you to do an in-depth study of all the intro sequences. I never knew any of this, and was fascinating to watch. Just like the rest of your quite in-depth videos on the show. I'm sorry to see that they will end but you are adding content even after the fact thank you very much. Kiwi
Hey Kiwi sounds like you got a new microphone?
Had messed up audio settings while recording it
Memento is my favorite film of all time and BCS is the only other film the use cor for the past and black/white for the present. Brilliant. I been watching this series since winter of 2008 when BrBa aired. What an amazing ride.
"tape out stop" and blue screen is newer gen vcr distortion screen
Much like your other videos, this is great. Never a boring moment. But hol’ up. You forgot to mention about the leaked season 7 intro. 😅
I never even noticed this until someone pointed it out
I deadass thought the spider and tie op was recorded at a beach and not the desert- where the whole universe is in
I know the tie wasn't there in the episode but imagine if they'd done that and it was a beach as a foreshadowing of Howard's fate from the beginning
The phone that the phonebook is on looks like the one Walt uses in the BB finale. Out in the middle of the desert with nothing nearby.
I fuckin love this show
kiwi
i ❤️ you
Did your voice get deeper?
It took me until 6 01 to realise that the tapes were degrading
It took somebody pointing out for me
What's the song you used in the very start of the video?
My intro/outro? Belief - silent partner
Are you Canadian vivid kiwi?
He's probably from New Zealand.
who is this where is chase
26th! No Emmy winners from this series after all of the nomination buzz. I didn't watch any of the shows that won, so not sure if BCS was robbed(?)
Can’t believe this show got robbed
You sound different.
0:45 uuhm that's not low budget though.
back in the days even HHM wouldn't have spent that much money on digital effects in their commercials.
before 2010 you could really make some money with simple photoshop work.
wich goes to show how in vaine saul becomes with his image.
The tapes and theme cutting out in the Gene/Viktor episodes could be symbolic of how, now that the Jimmy/Saul story is finished, we are now in uncharted territory, and there's no telling what could happen.
you didn't need to spoil what happens between Kim and jimmy at the last season to talk about the title sequences....
He said there would be spoilers
7th!
ur mic sounds like a webcam mic. the old one is better.
Same mic, settings got mixed up. Fixed for the future.
Calling prostitutes “sex workers” lol
