You can build a tower from your manor and increase retinue size to 24 btw

You can build 2nd farmers house and assign 4 family's from 1st so you'll get 2 ox

Yeah the archers fire from way to far and buildings sould stop also arrows so you can hide behind them. And it would be nice if archers have a high arch fire option!.

The war was really bugged out lol. I think the Baron's Army was trying to get to the Battlefield, but they took the wrong shortcut and couldn't figure out how to navigate through your city. The AI not only spawned the Baron's Army in the wrong spot but also your Mercenaries spawned in the wrong spot. Hopefully this will get patched. If they make the AI a little smarter, you may have lost that war in open ground. You're the best at Manor Lords Entertainment though!!

every time you rally your troops you need to check out the "run to position" option. It seems to be on by default, and means your troops arrive to the fight fatigued.

I think there is a tower that you can add to your castle to increase the retinue size from 12 to 24.
