I think Cahir was messed up mentally after killing the elf that was his friend. I think it resonated with him when Fringilla said it's amazing what you can do when you think for yourself, and he decided to stop trying to grab Ciri for the Emyr.
No, they just straight up wrote him absolutely wrong in the show and didn’t have enough time to fix it. Wait until he’s actually friends with Geralt next season and you’ll be even more confused.
@@KeytarArgonian no, that’s what happened in the show. Let the books go.
Yeah I think he was like “I know now! I will replace Emhyr with his daughter! And she will end me!🥲” lol he’s always been pretty nuts and very intense. He suffered and sacrificed so much (including lots of others!) and was sort of inadvertently cursed via dreams with Ciri’s pain, caused by him - as ordered by her father and his savior.
Emhyr essentially admitted to having Fringilla k!lled, but there she was, as you noted. So either the White Flame was lying or mistaken. It did feel rushed, but I assume he could no longer justify causing Ciri so much real pain for someone who supposedly wanted the best for her. Emhyr said it would be cool, his daughter would be with him, no problem. But Ciri didn’t seem to want any of that. And all her father had done in this search was ruin her life.
@@KeytarArgonian This person provided an explanation. You just didn’t like it and think they shouldn’t have changed it from the books. You’re right they didn’t have as much time. But that isn’t the same as writing him wrong from the beginning. We’ve seen Cahir have his problems through this whole season.
Geralts' necklace will vibrate when magic is being used near him. That is what I heard from a book reader.
Interesting that you didn't like this episode as much. This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire show.
I love that Tessaia got a moment where she was mother.
Fringilla’s scream right before the lightning like she understood they were all royally fucked now.
Maaaaaan Filavandrel got fuckin BODIED
"Is she just going to nuke the place?" Well, people have been saying for all this time how powerful she is - I guess it was time for "Show, don't tell."
The tide rushed in when the tower collapsed.
I'm finding that I hope there's something or someone behind Vilgefortz, because he's just tedious.
I laughed out loud when you quoted the "What happens to a toad?" line.
can agree with the first point , i was waiting for her tissaia to show off her powers
I agree Vilgefortz was suppose to be the most talented sorcerer. And in the show he is a joke of a villian
No one is behind him, he orchestrated it all
I thought this episode was great.
So did I..... there are millions of nerds around the world who pretty much hate everything now. (Rings of Power, Witcher, Marvel) Meanwhile they couldn't write a Haiku much less a hit show
I got so into this, freaking loved this too!!!
@@GingerGeek7567 were in the minority nowadays... the internet has turned on basically everything fantasy and sci-fi
Don’t worry. You weren’t the only one who felt confused or lost. I’m glad you felt the same way.
I'm sorry, I really enjoy and love this show even though I haven't read the book or played the games, so I judge the show on it's own merit and not based on people's opinion who's supposedly "read" the books and not a summary they read online. The show is pretty good and connects really well if people actually paid attention.🤷♀
Wait until next season and you might understand. Can you see Geralt being friends with Cahir and sleeping with Fringilla? Well you’re in for a Ride of well connected writing 😂
Never read the books nor have I played any of the games before starting the show. I've only read the first book after finishing season 1 which is long before Ciri is even introduced into the story. That's still two books away. Still haven't played a single game. Anything I say or feel is completely based on the show and nothing else.
@@Omn1Media you won’t have to wait that long before Geralt and a ciri meet in Brokilon in the second book. Which Netflix, not understanding the entire point of all the books crucially left out.
Mate don't skip the credit scene of next episode. There's a soundtrack and it's probably one of the best songs in the Witcher. It's about one of the short stories
15:17 Who tf let Uncle Ruckus get fire magic 💀
Man, I dont know why but the scene with Stregobor is probably my favorite of all this entire show lol!
He was ultra W Stregobor. I hope he survived.
Loved your reaction lol!.....They story-wise just jump all over! just watched the last 3 episode of The Witcher! Okay entertaining with all the action parts, but it will NEVER EVER BE the authentic Witcher story and you will NEVER EVER meet the real characters written by the Author! Never ever!!! It's a totally different feeling you get of the Witcher world, the characters etc. when reading the books.
This TV-series is "let's-try-earn-money"- action invented Netflix version of their idea of "The Witcher" or A witcher story. I felt kinda empty afterwards and couldn't be carried away at all...despite the great action/battling sequences with Henry! To me it feels that this series are making a mockery of what a witcher really is from the books. READ THE BOOKS....I say: PLEASE READ THE BOOKS!!!
Cahir had too many dreams about Ciri to ignore, maybe?
But yes, it was better in books, his whole character arc.
Really can't comment as I haven't seen the whole episode to understand what your talking about.
Yeah, I didn't know what was going on and why people were reacting the way they did. Also, I have a thing - when a show or a movie turns into a "people are finding each other and hugging"-fest (like Quantumania for example), I just mentally check out and no longer care, and this episode was like that...
Wonder how Kahir so easily defeated Vilgefort in the Sodden Battle in season 1 if he's this master fighter that embarrassed Geralt? I'm guessing that was for show so the other mages would not see his true power. He seems a little OP, but then again, I don't claim to be well-versed in this universe.
In the books vilgefort is super powerful and does easily beat Geralt. I think he hides his power at sodden for two reason one: yennefer was watching him so he held back and two he wanted the mages to lose at sodden or least weaken the brotherhood like it did, yennefer was a wild card last minute save.
@@mariecruz4627 good point. Did things go down like this in the books at all? Is that the problem Henry Cavil had with the writers?
@@carriesmith742 Season 3 actually follows the time of contempt novel closely with some slight changes here and there in the book Vilgefortz beats Geralt in a similar way. I think most of henry cavils problems come from season 2 which was really different than the book and the showrunners treatment of how they saw the source materiel. i don't hate the show like some people but will admit the changes they made in season 2 were really bad. I think thats why this season can be confusing to some because they went back to the source materiel and some things that season 2 should have built up to were rushed here.
@@mariecruz4627 I've enjoyed all the seasons, having no knowledge of the books of the games. I know a lot of people had an issue with the whole Deathless Mother storyline and her joining the Wild Hunt via possession when she's apparently not in the books. That is admittedly an odd way to go when there's such obviously great source material to choose from. I liked it ok, but am really enjoying this season. I'm watching the finale now.
In the books Vilgefortz *IS* the hero of sodden for a reason. Not this weird ‘yaaas Yennefer, but we have to *GIVE* Vilgefortz the credit because patriarchy’ 😂
I own all the books and played the games. It’s not that serious for everyone to be freaking out and the changes made are blown out of proportion
Say you haven't read the books without saying it
Yeah, I had no idea what was going on with Cahir either. WTF
Wait they're giving a reason in the show for the actor change? Or was it given on Twitter or something?
I freaking loved this episode, love this season so far don't care what anyone says !!! And you know what i also loved rings of power, season 3 of mando, book of boba and QUANTUMANIA dammit!!!
A lot of the naysayers are actually just Serah trolls. Had someone tell he this is no how the Thanedd Coup happenes in the bookswhen it’s almost completely accurate save for a few embellishments. 😂
Wtf is this title?Like seriosuly who thought it was a good idea to call it that.
Oh, yes. That would have been a good episode title for Legends of Tomorrow or Harley Quinn (both of which I love, but this show has -- or should have -- a different tone).
The kind of title that reminded me of old school fall out boy & panic song titles lol!!
This was the actual title in the original version?! 😂 Damn... It's like boomers trying too hard connecting with the younger folks...
As a book fan I’m just as confused about what Netflix is doing with Cahir as you are.
Also they killed of Rience two books early and wasted some of the most iconic scenes of the franchise.
Im afraid they will skip Touissaint storyline completely. 1. Rience is dead 2. Fringilla is fat, non atractive witch and I cant imagine her lovestory with Geralt in Toussaint
This was really messy. I thought Vol 1 was a bad version of the "don't be suspicious" Parks and Rec bit, but this mess, oh lawdy. Why did Geralt break the fire guy's arms when he could've done a head chop like he did here in 2 seconds? Lots of convoluted plot. Cahir heard one line from Frangilla about thinking for herself, and off screen decided to support Ciri. The worse part was that I suspected he would, after killing his elf friend, but I had to watch him get off his horse looking very threatening and then putting his sword down later. I feel bad for Henry because I finally got to see some of the game and now I understand how this all could've been gourmet meat and tone.
Stregobor channeling his hate for elves into an all consuming fire of Racism was for some reason my favorite part of the episode XD
I thought it was a good episode, but VERY rushed.. especially the scene where Ciri, Yennefer & Geralt get together again. I don't know.. then Rience's death was the worst way a character's death could ever be done.. I defended this season so far but this episode was not it.
Episode was really good. But i agree with the part about Rience's death. Didn't he drown to death in the books. They should've milked the coup into 2 episodes imo. But they can bring Rience back if they want, since Vilgafortz is powerful af.
@@TD-xo4tg Agreed! It really needed milked in to 2 episodes
She looked like Carry with that blood over her face, mind slamming the doors shut
i wish geralt would’ve let ciri stay when he sensed vilgefortz, they would’ve been able to fight him easier together
wouldn’t have made much of a difference. Geralt got absolutely dismantled in this fight. having ciri would’ve only slowed him down & honestly made things worse
Lol, then Vilge would just have Ciri now too.
It's like they're just cleaning the slate in preparation for season 4. Like wtf was up with fire guy dying like he had no plot.
And why did Yenifur go back? She didn't do anything that anybody else couldn't have done.
I have to say. It was little more book accurate. Cahir is one of the best Geralt helper, because his dedication to Ciri, battle was good. Battle with Vilgerfortz was not good enough, Geralt was much more beaten in book. Rience dead is out of place, in books he will have much more role, I dont know where his death leads the show. They probably skip whole Touissaint storyline from books
What they are doing with Cahir is .. really weird..
In first books, he was quite a mysterious character. For 11-year-old Ciri he was like this monster living under the bed who ruined her life but in reality he was only following orders and.. eventually saved her by helping her escape from burning city where Nilfgaardian army went on quite big killing spree. She defeated him during Thanedd Coup and saw his face for the first time. She didn't see face of a killer in big winged black helmet but rather face of a scared little shit who started begging her for mercy
ngl after watching ATLA for the first time i'm quite disappointed they didn't give him Zuko treatment but instead made him a cold-blooded killer from the start
I have to agree. I've read the books and I was cautiously excited for this episode, thinking it would the best of this season and they couldn't possibly mess it up too much. But they absolutely did. The fight between Geralt and Vilgefortz stood out, as did the moment of Yen and Ciri parting. But the rest? It's a messy, confusing, badly paced episode. I totally get your confusion about Cahir and the problem is that they messed up his character from the beginning and clearly didn't know how to undo it all. They also cut out Geralt and Cahir talking, which was another great moment in the books, but wouldn't make much sense because they changed what happened in Cintra. I also already watched the making of season 3 and twice they comment on how they had to simplify the plot and the politics in this episode and I literally cringed. They clearly OVER-simplified it, instead of fleshing out one of the most important and shocking events of the books. It's a damn shame.
pacing has been all over the place in season 3.
and writing took some noticeable and confusing dips.
This is Netflix reaping the rewards of making Cahir and Fringilla ridiculously evil in season 1 and 2. Cahir becomes Geralts friend and Fringilla and Geralt are sleeping together lmao.
I mean obviously they changed stuff so there’s no reason to think they’re going to do exactly what you think they’re going to do. Also they’re I assume a conglomeration of characters who are more important. Also… “ridiculously evil,” I mean apart from the magic, you do realize that people in real life are far more evil than that right? Especially to do the things they and real people in real life have done? I’m guessing your issue is with using these particular characters. Though one could also argue that it would be “ridiculous” for the emperor to trust people who weren’t as fanatic or ruthless as he is with the tasks he gave for example Cahir in the books.
When did this show become like wheel of time or a crap sci-fi show:)!
Brother nothing makes sense and writers is bad they need to change the name to contains the Witcher 😂
This show Is such a mess, read the Books. They are a lot better
Wow you're the first person to every say that!
Understand why Henry Cavill is leaving the series. A lot of mess.
