  • Which is the healthiest city in the world 2022
We all know Spain is a beautiful country with awesome weather and long life expectancy, but did you know that the healthiest city in the whole world is here?
Yes, and I am lucky to be living in it. Valencia has been crown as the healthiest city two years in a-row. The ranking is based on a very complex formula which includes data from factors such as air pollution, sunny days in the year, quality of local produce, green spaces, mental and physiological health and much more.
I hope you will like my video and please COMMENT below which city in the world do you live in?

Believe it or not I have been following you for a while and so inspired that I decided to make the big leap to move from Los Angeles to Valencia . Yes believe me . I left my job , sold my condo and my car. I am so over this traffic , pollution , high cost , over population , homeless encampments everywhere. This is not where I want to spend the rest of my life . I’m Now just counting down the days until my flight when I come enjoy a much much better life style and good quality of living!

@@vicentelleo6691 I know Spain too well to do that, for me, a large LG TV is everything, not that I can't have that in Spain, I become numb every time I come back to LA and forget how good it is. Valencia is considered one of the ugliest places but so it Bilbao and I would end up there because of family. It has a Costco. Valencia is probably better. What problems we face is taxes, California isn't going to let you go that easily, my friends had to move to Florida for 5 years so they can escape taxes and have to deal with a lawyer that knows california's laws. Sad.. I love this weather too much to leave, but yes, when they bussed over the homeless, they ruined our state, they keep winning in office because there is way too much corruption. DA is put in by Soros, but so is the president of Spain. I dream of Australia, way over priced, not a good idea, but what other option do I have. Spain. Canada too cold, mexico has the cartel. Australia has poisonous bugs and animals. I wish I could find the perfect place, Spain woudl be it of me because of family. US is already sticking their noses in bank accounts Americans have over seas. they really want to know what you have.

I am not in the least bit surprised by this ranking. When I lived in Valencia for three months and went back 10 years later, I was just amazed by the number of people doing outdoor fitness activities in the wonderful Turia gardens (did so myself and I so miss it!) And while not being fitness fanatics, I noticed very few overweight people among the locals. Balanced lifestyles, climate, availability of fresh and locally grown produce, etc. What a difference from Toronto with its cold winters, a public transit infrastructure that has been lagging the population's growth for decades, reliance on cars, etc.
One thing that wasn't mentioned in your video is the impact of affordable housing on general well-being. The housing crisis in Toronto has led to an explosion of homeless people with addiction, physical mental health issues, made worse by COVID. It has become a defining feature of the city.

Valencia looks pretty balanced city. It has beaches, huge parks, fresh food and seems pretty organized. Knowing that is the healthiest city in the world makes more attractive to relocate there.
I'm from L.A, there are nice parks, nice beaches, good restaurants. But I don't trust the food, you have to read the labels to know what you're eating.
An example is when you buy milk or meat, you get warnings that certain hormones may have been used. This is scary and makes you think why so many Americans get sick. My dream is to one day I can move to Spain.

@@Juanfernandez-sm8jlIn Málaga we have more than 300 sunny days per year, protected by many montains all around 1.000, 2.000 and 3.000 meters high (Sierra Nevada in Granada very near). The temperature is really fantastic all the time (except July and August very worm like everywhere). No storms as in Valencia and Alicante because the sea water is cold, it is the only inconvenience, but we don´t suffer "Gotas Frías" like in Levante where the sea water is too warm, because the sea water evaporation is very great and make many storms. The Málaga geograhical situation is really exceptional, very near from the Gibraltar Strait, a very good Airport and many beautiful villages like Ronda, Marbella, Estepona, Fuengirola, Benalmádena, Torremolinos, Nerja (in the East Coast like Vélez-Málaga). Archidona, Antequera in the interior (a monumental village with so many Palaces and Churches). EL TORCAL DE ANTEQUERA, please watch in Internet what is EL TORCAL, (may be you vill not believe it). The situation is South-South (the best with no doubt) and South-East, You can see the África Coast in a clair day very well. We are connected by train to Madrid in two hours and 40 minutes, good haihways, etc. Many important enterprises come to Málaga to instalate like Google, Vodafone and others that I can´t remember. Málaga people are very open and nobody feels a foreigner. We have more than 30 Museums (including The Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg, the only one out side from Russia), etc. etc. The Police and Security is one of the best like in all Spain. I recommend you specially RONDA, an excepeptional village where you can feel like in a Fairy Tale. They say today that Málaga is THE CALIFORNIA OF EUROPE, but with a lot of very Old History since almost 3.000 years.

I'm just outside Downtown L.A. in smaller city 10-15 min in foothills, cleaner mountainous , less smog and car stress, but I don't think a persons body-system, makeup, disposition, health status, is not going to be programmed right away if they've just moved to Spain, and like magic, they're healthier. I believe the person who has been born and raised in Spain and has had it's great environment of the external things and childhood and lifetime exposure such things as sun, diet, food ingredients, exercise and good mood for years to shape him or her growing up as an adult will most likely have a long life expentency there. but a person who lets say, moves from the U.S. at middle age, to Spain, and has a multitude of problems physically that developed out of choice, or neglect, or genetics, like maybe a heart condition or diabetes, may have a longer time to see if a new external environment like this starts changing their physical bodily constitution for the better, .. it's possible though ..

In Europe they don't use hormones or certain chemicals on food production. They even banned meats coming from the UK because they use antibiotics when raising cattle. In the US and UK we are being fed poison.
So that alone explains why people are healthier and live longer in Spain.

Valencia isn't the healthiest city in the world but it's nice to think so, all those little farms in spain are the healthiest, where you get the chicken from your back yard and eggs and you have so many trees, the best fish is not in valencia, but Madrid, where it's shipped everyday by plane from the north of spain. We eat plenty of fish, yet, they also eat plenty of meat, from Lamb, Pork and other and yet, we live a very long life, even if smoking is crazy in Spain. Even today that they cut down drastically, people still smoke like there is no tomorrow. Number one cause of death.

  • @Garcwyn
    @Garcwyn Před 2 lety +3

The crux of the issue is the approach to being healthy which is diametrically different. In Europe, and certainly in the Mediterranean countries, health is a given, like a natural right that you can lose of course. But the default mode is to be healthy and everything is conducive to that. From the urban planning of the cities to the work-life balance and everything in between.
In America health is something that you gain, that you need to pay for, and quite handsomely more often than not. Everything conspires to this: from the quality of the produce, which let’s be honest is not great, to the access to health care. You just need to look at some of the tv ads; they nearly make it desirable to have one of those terrible illnesses so you get amazingly treated in hospital x or y. It’s ridiculous but it’s a business and to be profitable you need to depart from the point that you are not healthy (whether objectively true or not)

I think when you make broad statements of fact like this you need to back it up with actual proof and in my brief research I do not find Valencia as number 1...In fact, Lisbon and even Portugal in general come up before any city in Spain! Besides that Valencia is not a huge city and so to compare it with bigger cities is difficult...Sure it was WHO? Anyhow, you are biased towards Valencia and I am towards Lisbon...ALL OF IT SO GREAT! I actually prefer Andalusia, but honestly it's all fabulous!! wink wink
