      You can. How much money do your parents have? Cornell does SCE, and basically it can be used as a second chance for students who don't qualify as is for acceptance. You will go to Cornell as a student, and gain college credits in all courses you take. You will also get a Cornell transcript which can be worth its weight in gold for UCLA and other top schools which aren't IVY. The reason I ask about money. Cornell 3 credit courses cost $4900 out of pocket, and that's $19,600 for a 12 credit course. You will get Zero scholarship or financial aid. You can definitely 100% buy your acceptance this way, because think about how many students actually do this to get in. 1% or less, so it works with less competition being viewed. Cornell honestly doesn't care about kid stuff, like how this guy said he opened a business using his moms money. Cornell seen that and didn't think Tier 1, they thought O.O money. Cornell mainly looks at an application and does one of two things, can they afford Cornell, or are they worth a scholarship. People buy their ways into IVYS all the time with large parent donations, and it's just a classist school like all IVYS. Kids do earn their way in, but kids also buy their way in. Becoming president of a club or an *executive* is honestly something anyone can do, create a club and you're automatically an executive, invite 3-4 of your friends and then join their clubs and bingo you all have clubs LOL.
      My Toxic trait is making 200k a year without college, and still not being able to afford this schools yearly tuition, so I come here to see what will be running the country and laugh. Unless you play football or some other activity for a Christian private school, you likely wont get a scholarship to attend. I've known zero to go into an IVY, and my wife is from California. Her high school had 5 and they were LOADED besides one. The one who stood out was mixed (black/white), rape baby whose mother didn't want anything to do with her, and white grandma had to raise her with racist relatives on the mothers side who hated her existence, which drove her mother into a nut house. So that effectively with a 3.8 GPA made her a shoe-in on the essay for earning admission the right way with a full ride scholarship. I'd rather not be a rape baby. Ivy now is made out to be something they aren't. Look up Harvard/Yale/Cornell's acceptance rates for the years 1980-1990. You'll be surprised to see most of them were over 30%. Vanderbilt isn't Ivy, but has something like a 10% acceptance rate. Just in 2003 Vanderbilt had a 40% acceptance rate for Art and science, and a whopping 55% acceptance rate for Engineering. You can get a superior education at any school you get, and if you want IVY for your kids then chase the money and put them in private schools their entire upbringing. IVY school doesn't equal better job than anyone else. This guy talking chose Hotel, why the hell would anyone want to work at hotels with a degree? I know Hotel owners who didn't get a college degree lol, 2008 was a great year to borrow money. Anyone that gets an MD license at the bottom tier locations will come out higher than this Cornell student and that's facts. You can do anything you want without an IVY degree, Stop chasing them :D
      The average length of time to finish an undergraduate bachelors at Harvard is 8 years. Let that sink in. You can go to Random University, and get into the job field 4 years earlier than most Harvard students and you'll be their boss by then. This Cornell student is going to have a boss who doesn't hold any IVY degree, and that's going to SUCK to realize. He could have went to a regular Uni and had his parents throw the 30k extra into a bank account. Then started a business once graduated. Some people are Blind.

    I've wanted to go to Cornell for as long as I could remember. I'm currently going into my junior year of highschool with a 92 average. I would love to go for a biomedical major because I love the sciences. I take a rigorous 4 year program offered by our school through PLTW (project lead the way) all about the biomedical sciences. Along with this I am taking math and Spanish until I graduate and have 3 AP classes lined up for Junior year. I also am a part of our towns Junior EMS program and I am on course to becoming a certified EMT within the following year. Being a 3 sport varsity athlete along with being in our schools link crew and student council, would these compensate for my lower average? I plan on getting references from Cornell alumni (My boss and the Mayor of our town). If not, is there any advice you could give me on getting admitted?

      Honestly, I extracurriculars don't necessarily "compensate" for lower gpas.... You sound like a busy person, which is fine, but Ivy's and larger named schools want to see quality over quantity. Zone in on maybe 3-4 extracurriculars you are truly passionate about and demonstrate that you have a field of interest. Colleges want strong applicants in their respective fields of interests, not thousands of students who are just good at extreme multi tasking with a million things that they do, which in all honestly, are most likely things they won't be contributing the the college (for example, I doubt you would be playing 3 Division sports in college on top of grueling classes, jobs, etc). Not to mention, but colleges want the whole well rounded class, so you have to consider that as well.
      Although we are amidst of a pandemic, you can possibly have your personal essay (or even a good test score if you have it) to help your applications stand out more.

      In terms of financial aid, if you're a New York state resident, tuition is about $15,000 less than out-of-state residents. You can learn more about their financial aid program here: admissions.cals.cornell.edu/tuition/

    Hotel Administration has like a 40% acceptance rate. Calm down. Take 4-6 SCE courses over summer fall/winter and you'll likely be accepted with a 3.6+ GPA, if you get 6 A's you will get in as a transfer. Sure it's Pricey, but if you're going into Cornell your parents have money either way.

    • @bryanv.3630
      @bryanv.3630 Před 4 lety

      It depends on if your school offers APs and when they allow you to take them. For example, my school offers around 8-10 APs, but you can't take below junior year and even juniors are restricted to 3 APs (or 4 APs at max which has never been attempted before) so I can't be compared to schools that let underclassmen take APs. You just have to figure out what your circumstances are.

    Is school of engineering more selective or the school of arts and sciences ?

    • @CollegeVine
      @CollegeVine  Před 4 lety

      Hi there, both have similar acceptance rates. This past year the acceptance rate for engineering was around 10.5%, while the acceptance rate for arts and sciences was around 9.9%. You can learn more here: irp.dpb.cornell.edu/university-factbook/undergraduate-admissions

    Since this year the requirements of SAT/ACT scores are optional, will they make any impact on my application if I go ahead without them since the deadline is near. Do I have chances of selection?

    • @kagakai7729
      @kagakai7729 Před 2 lety

      I recommend you absolutely try to submit SATs if you can, as in practice, the overwhelming majority of people accepted are people who gave SAT scores. It's basically one of the best ways for them to assess your level of readiness for their curriculum.

      Hi Kuan-Yu, Cornell's transfer acceptance rate for the School of Hotel Administration isn't readily available online, however, the overall transfer acceptance rate is around 17.89%.

    • @jasonl6537

      @@CollegeVine Transfer acceptance rates are inflated though because of the Transfer Option pathway that Cornell offers to some students at the time of admission, which is a guaranteed transfer.
